“Helpful and enjoyable stay”
Reviewed 11 May 2013

we stayed at Backwaysfarm for an overnight stop during a 5 day walking holiday along Somerset's West Deane Way. Ty and Vanessa looked after us very well, we're very welcoming and helpful, especially with the arrangements for our bag transfer which needing transporting independently from previous location as we were travelling on foot. Large comfortable room in a traditional farmhouse setting at a very reasonable price. We would be very pleased to stay here again.

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review, it's much appreciated. It was enjoyable to have guests full of enthusiasm for the long walk you did and the for the pub stops en route - we think you earned them! Hopefully you'll try some of our other hills, we've got plenty just waiting for you.

Had a lovely overnight stay at Backways Farmhouse whilst on a short walking holiday in the Quantocks. Fantastic scenery.. Delightful and spacious double room with pretty view (it did help that it was beautifully sunny, after all the bad weather), and large ensuite shower. Ty and Venessa were very welcoming and helpful in pointing us in the right direction for afternoon tea in Wellington, and to The Beam Bridge for our evening meal. Full english breakfast (perfectly cooked) kept us going all day. Many thanks to Venessa for steel drum demo and to Ty for transporting our bags from previous nights stay. Would thoroughly recommend this traditional farmhouse bed and breakfast.

Glad to hear you made it to the end of the walk and many thanks for the review. You got the best of the weather but took it away with you. You also win the prize for the heaviest bag so far this year. Hope you enjoyed our local scenery during your long walk and will maybe return again to some more. There's plenty left to do.

Had overnight stay here last weekend, spotless room, everything provided, lovely hosts.

Breakfast can’t be beaten anywhere and we have been in many a Bed and Breakfast over the years.

We can rate Backways as the best B n B we have ever stayed in.

Give them a go, you wont be disappointed.

Lovely old farmhouse a mile outside Wellington in Somerset, just off the main road, enjoying a tranquil location.
Stayed here for two nights, with my husband, for a family "get together" and enjoyed a most comfortable stay. We had the large double bedroom, with roomy ensuite, it was bright, airy and well furnished. A thoughtful touch, was a flask of fresh milk for tea/coffee, in our rooms each day.
A good choice for breakfast; cereals, full English and various combinations of it. I chose the scrambled eggs and salmon, with free range eggs from their own chooks, delicious!
Ty and Vanessa are warm and welcoming hosts, very helpful and friendly, you really feel at home. Despite very inclement weather (5c with easterly gales!) we would love to return, perhaps in summer months!!

Thanks for your review. The inclement weather has no doubt been a negative factor for many businesses but particularly for hospitality for your type of trip - so many thanks for staying with us during such a cold period. Maybe next time 'cold' can be a glass of wine not the weather.

Thank you for your positive review as it's always a pleasure to welcome you back here. We do enjoy your visits and also the visits to the Post Office to return your forgotten items. Perhaps you're trying to move in? The chocolate gifts are the right way to go about it. Many thanks.

This is a charming property in a lovely location- very close to town but also far enough outside the town to feel truly rural. We used the twin room which was lovely- very clean and with lots of space. Breakfast (we chose the full English each day - When in Rome!) was delicious and made fresh at the time of our choosing. The owners, Ty and Vanessa, were charming hosts and made us feel so welcome. Their knowledge of the local area and things to do was also invaluable. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: Only stayed in one room but the house is in such a quiet location i imagine they are all as quiet, c...

Many thanks for your review, it's much appreciated. It was a surprise to find you at the breakfast table each morning after a long day's stag do and a midnight bicycle ride back to us. Quite impressive. It was a pleasure to meet you and hope you can revisit when our temperatures are closer to yours.

Stayed here with my husband for 2 nights whilst visiting friends. This is a lovely farmhouse B&B in a rural setting yet easily accessible from the motorway. We stayed in Room 1 which was big, clean and tastefully decorated, with a very comfortable bed and all the conveniences you need. The en suite is huge and has a fab shower. The breakfast was yummy with plenty of choices of cereals and cooked options, and so nice to have a cooked breakfast served on a piping-hot plate! We both slept like logs which is unusual when away from home. It's a peaceful setting and the owners are very welcoming. There is a separate lounge for guests and they provide lots of information about things to do in the area. It's an ideal location for exploring Somerset and Exmoor, including the delightful West Somerset Railway.
