“Sufficient room, terrible food, great golf course”
Reviewed 12 August 2012

Based here for 4 nights on a fishing trip.

Front desk service nonchalant & lack lustre. There is a LOT of staff there but none seem responsible for any sort of service. Got a 2br beach chalet for the 3 of us which was fine. Clean, large and great air conditioning. Funny little TV with 1 channel only, despite having a cable TV guide. Wifi was available in our chalet though very patchy with moments of high speed and extended periods where it didn't go at all.

Food was absolutely terrible. Quite honestly the worst meal of my life. Do not eat here. We had lunch on the first day. Ordered a hamburger at 2pm to be told 5 mins later that burgers had finished for the day. Got fish & chips. No one knew what type of fish was served but it was muddy and putrid with cysts in it and I ate 1 bite only whose to this day conjurs up a retch. My friend bit into his chicken wings to find it red raw and still bleeding. Disgusting and dangerous. Get a lift into Kuala Rompin town where there are some great restaurants.

Pool was a distinct milky colour and looked like it'd burn your eyes out. Stray cats walking around urinating on all the deck chairs so wasn't keen to hang out pool side.

The beach is fine, you can have a fire and by doing so might help to dispose of all the litter lying around, as is typical with many Malaysian beaches.

Upside was it's location very close to the pier where we met our fishing charter each day and the golf course which was fantastic and virtually all ours. Club & buggy rental available. They're pretty haggard buggy's but a few on the trot electrical repairs saw us through the day.

Best thing was you can juts slip the cleaners a few ringit to wash all your fishy gears and avoid paying any set prices.

Do not expect anything more than 3 stars from this place and aside from toast for breakfast, do NOT eat here!

Room Tip: get a beach chalet! That way the rustic nature of it will feel a little more expected.

This resort has a beautiful entrance from the gate, passing by a row of flags along the golf course. Arriving the resort is a welcoming entrance with pleasant services. No elevator, so you have to carry your bags up the staircase. Rooms are quite difficult to find because the numbering are not obvious. The rooms has two bottle of free drinking water, small old TV with poor reception and limited channels. The rooms are at just acceptable level only. Four of us had two single rooms, one of which has a very low pressure shower, and we had no choice but to go next door for shower. Water pressure was totally low and it takes forever to shower. I showered halfway and went next door's bathroom, which was slightly in better condition. Again, there are spiderwebs at the shower hose and i was so scared that it would drop !! yuck!

The environment of the resort is very good, clean and well maintained. There's a nice swimming pool with children's pool next to it which all resort units can view towards it. the beachside is also within viewing sight. Beautiful sight! White sandy beach. Some people do not recommend to swim in the sea because they said it's kind of polluted, and some said the tide is too high and waves are too strong.. i don't know, maybe they just want to stay in the clean swimming pool. I just don't see anyone swimming in the sea, except my mom.

Breakfast was so so only, do not expect much. The best food on table are just the fruits and bread with jam only. The rest, simple food like noodles, rice, fish.. not so tasty although they are pretty fresh. Lunch time was bad too, i took fruits first because that's the hottest item that's gone fast! haha! At night, we had barbeque meal (pre ordered) because we attended the teambuilding organized there. Food are okay, especially grilled lamb, briyani rice and fruits. The rest of the food, not so good. They had fire dance at the beach too! party during or after meal, very entertaining!

Room Tip: Stay in lower floors, so you do not have to carry your bags up the staircase. Request for 1st floor...

This was our first stop of a series of accommodation for our bike ride of 30+ motorbikes. I was disappointed. We arrived around 630pm and the checkin was relatively prompt. That was where the good things ended for me. I was given a room on the 3rd floor. First the room stank of lack of use! The fan did not work. The aircond worked but just barely. I jumped in the shower to discover the faucet had fallen off. I called maintenance and they came 5 minutes later to fixed the faucet/valve. They said the fan will take some time (it ended up taking 2 hours to fix the fan and it was finally hard-wired to maximum speed as the remote did not work). I requested for a sejadah (prayer rug) which is standard in Malaysian hotels. It took 30 minutes. I had to make do with the towel as a prayer rug. That or I miss prayer time. I went down for dinner at 8pm. The food was absolutely mediocre. I went back to the room and found some bulbs not working. The next day at breakfast, I heard similar complaints from my fellow riders. What a disappointment!

Room Tip: Check shower, lights, fans and AC work before taking the room.

Away from it all, and quiet and tranquil enough to help you reconnect with yourself. Lanjut to me is mysteriously enchanting in that grows on you. The facilities aren't first rate, but lower your expectations a notch or two and resist the urge to complain and suddenly a whole world of experiences and adventures opens itself to you. Get out of your hotel room and stop harping on "things could be better," and you are greeted by sprawling grounds with a long sandy beach that just won't quit! On the other side of the hotel is a forested area that is good for exploration and jungle walks complete with flora and fauna, eg, hornbills, wild pigs, insects and plants. Oh, and did I mention the airstrip / runway (repaved) and iron ingots that are remnants of a past glorious time. The pool is great and the nearby Rompin Town is quaint and amply equipped. There's just something about this place that keeps drawing me back. 3 hrs from Singapore ain't bad. And lastly, the championship golf course ... definitely, an incentive for me. I'll be back!

Room Tip: Bring a camera if you are a nature lover. Rompin Seafood Bahru restaurant in Rompin Town provides g...

The hotel is about 3 hrs drive from Singapore [ using the coastal road, ie: Johor Bahru >Kota Tinggi > Mersing]. The place is quite isolated but the beach is nice. I've asked for a lower floor as my parents have difficulties using the stairs.
The room is reasonably clean & spacious [ 1 king size bed + 1 single bed + balcony] but the furnishing were a little old.
A car is required if you want to visit the local shops serving local food. [ around 6-10 km from the hotel].
