This has been our local for some years now. Good food and good service. Well worth a visit. Duck confit and fish and chips always a good bet. The local beer, Butcombe bitter, is to be recommended. We always book in the bar as this has more atmosphere.

The Stapleton Arms is a reliably good pub and one of my favorites. Large and roomy, with a dinning room for more 'formal' dining or just perch at a beer barrel with a good pint and a pie. Great Sunday lunch pub and Child friendly too.
Great service from a young and friendly staff.
If you are an ale drinker, they regularly change what they have on tap and have a good selection.
This place is well worth a visit if you are in the area.

This is my second review of the Stapleton and it is not often that I go to a restaurant and the food is faultless, i had dinner there last night and loved it. I am a chef and their chef is brilliant. My black lab also enjoyed herself too. Service was excellent. So glad that i only live 5 mins away!

Just gorgeous here..am already planning to come back as enjoyed it so much. Reasonable priced rooms, friendly pub, great food, excellent staff...it really is a gem and I am so pleased we found it. Our room was on the right up the stairs and was a bit noisy as the kitchen is underneath. We weren't planning a very early night though so it wasn't a problem for us. Would be nice to have hot chocolate available in the room as we had to buy in the bar. Had to have the pork pie and scotch egg as a starter and was so so glad we did!
The room we were in was huge but not decorated the same as the other rooms. Bathroom a bit cold so maybe some disposable spa slippers would be a nice non expensive touch in the rooms.

Lovely meal, well cooked, good price, attentive service. The rib eye steak, as recommended was cooked to perfection. Good bar area. I am fairly local to the area and will come to this pub again on the strength of this meal.

We stayed at The Stapleton Arms for a cold winter night. It is the most charming village pub I have ever come across. Our rooms were delightful; bed comfortable; shower excellent. But it is the pub itself that is outstanding. The bar is done with wonderful laid-back style and is for lounging around in; heavenly open fire. Very sadly we were not able to eat there due to other commitments, but the menu looked terrific, as did the dining area. The pork pies on the bar counter are mouth watering. The breakfast was sensational (best black pudding, etc.), delicious coffee - both espresso and cappuccinos were first class. The bloody mary's were also top rate, ditto the olives. This place is run by the sort of people that you wish ran your local. I was very impressed.

Despite it not being on our route, we detoured to spend another night here. Standards still good, though focus seemed a little less customer-oriented/distracted.

Experience spoiled by an extractor fan, or something similar, somewhere, which switched on and off throughout the night, thereby 'murdering sleep'.
bedroom was to right at top of stairs.
