Rancho e Cuero is without a doubt the best place I've ever stayed in the most beautiful setting I could ever imagine. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights on our honeymoon in August 2011. Due to a large snowfall a few days previously, we nearly didn't make it as the private, four wheel drive road, was blocked. Luckily, the weather eased and Juan, our host, was able to meet us to take us the final stretch, confidently navigating the steep, snow covered road. As we rounded the final corner, the property came into view, nestled in a stunning valley in the foothills of the Andes.
The moment we set foot in the ranch there was an huge fire, empanadas and drinks waiting for us. The food was amazing from start to end, and the wine was quality and plentiful. Nothing was too much trouble for Juan and we were made to feel so welcome, it became our home away from home. The ranch itself was well equipped and tastefully decorated, and the huge beds are so comfy!
Having ridden in many locations across the world, I can confidently say that the horses were the happiest, best behaved horses I've ever ridden. The riding was exhilirating, climbing snow covered mountains in search of guanacos and other wildlife. The scenery had my husband and I in awe. I loved watching the horses being released each evening into the mountains to roam free and Pedro, the resident Gaucho, would round them up every morning.
Whilst it is not budget accommodation, value for money is excellent as everything is included and the quality of food and wine could be found in fine dining restaurants.
Juan was the perfect host and we came away feeling like we had made a new friend. Thanks for making our honeymoon so memorable - we'll definitely be back!
