We had spent 3 days at Villa Cortine Palace, Sirmione, before travelling by public ferry to Gargnano and Villa Giulia.
Entering through the main gates we were impressed by the beautiful grounds but, upon stepping foot inside, we were awed by the elegance of this beautifully furnished old building.
Villa Giulia has different types of accomodation to suit your style and budget. I believe some is quite new and close to the pool and lawned area which leads directly to the lake.
We chose an antique style of room, housed in the main building and with superb lake views. The room was spacious with a huge antique bed and marvellous high wooden ceiling. There was also air conditioning which was very welcome after a hot day.
Breakfast was very nice, served either in the dining room overlooking the lake or outside again, overlooking the lake.
The staff made us feel very welcome; they were all professional and helpful and, having stayed at some very upmarket boutique hotels around the world, this is up with the best of them.

We stayed at Villa Giulia for 2 days as a stop on our tour of Venice and the Veneto and it was one of the most beautiful and sophisticated places we have ever stayed. The Villa itself is immaculately refurbished and kept, and the grounds, directly overlooking Lake Garda, could not be more beautiful. There is a beautiful pool, grassy area, and sun terrace, where you can while away the sunny day...or you can take a 5 minute walk into the town of Gargnano to catch a ferry for a wonderful trip to any number of other charming towns along the lake. We went to Malcesine and it was fabulous!
The service was outstanding and the staff were so polite that it was almost embarassing...I felt like telling them to relax a little. But they were so accomodating. The breakfast was so plentiful and it was absolutely magnificent eating it on a sunny morning on the terrace overlooking the lake and breathtaking scenery.

One minor drawback...the Villa was a little difficult to find...even when you are already in Gargnano...and it was frustrating. We finally found it...but I think quite by accident.

You will not regret a peaceful stay at Villa Giulia on Lake Garda. This is a very classy, sophisticated hotel...and worth the money.

Sometimes words are not sufficient to describe a perfect place - Villa Giulia is such a perfect place.

There is really only one tiny little thing: if the menu offered more choices specifically concerning main dishes ... however, the food we had was extremely delicious.

A small, high quality, boutique hotel in the best village on the western lake. There a range of rooms from the restored Villa to the garden tower. We stayed in the Villa and had a lovley room overlooking the lake and garden. The rooms are spacious and highly specified; the service throughout was exemplary. The food is very good with a full evening retaurant. The hotel has immaculate gardens for siting out and a pool and private facilities.

Access to the village and its facilties, including the impressive Michelin starred La Tortuga (go there but booking essential), restaurant is 5 mins walk.

A good base for the Lake and surroundings but avoiding the most 'touristy', down market towns.

You do pay for the privilege - up to 300 euros a night - but it is worth it. This is a rare hotel of real quality.
