I stayed with friends who had a room here the first day I was in Gargnano, but then had to move on to my pre-arranged lodgings in the Casa Bertollini. I would have loved to spend my whole stay here and actually to have stayed forever! John, the proprietor is one of the kindest and most helpful people I have ever met. The hotel is very attractive and includes an internet cafe. The room was nice, with all the amenities one would want and a fabulous view of Lake Garda.

Room Tip: Ask for one overlooking the lake.

Great location in a small, peaceful village by the lake. Unspoiled. The owner who speaks perfect English could not have been more helpful. The room was comfortable and the whole stay (4 nights) was lovely. A gem.

The hotel is really nice and the owner so nice. He speaks excellent english and loves to make the guests feel at home. Although the hotel is old and is right on the lake and in the middle of the village, which is very small. The views of snow capped mountains are spectacular. The town is sparkling clean, a pity we stayed only one night. There are only one room with views, which is great pity. The wi-fi is free and they have a little bar/internet cafe that is lovely to sit and chat in. I stay there again, gladly. The breakfast is really nice, excellent coffee and can sit on the veranda with views of the lake.

Room Tip: Only one (or two) rooms with a view.

Me and my husband stayed at the hotel
for 4 nights in July. We stayed in the best room in the hotel, room 22 which had a balcony that has beautiful views of Lake Garda and Gargnano. It was superb, we enjoyed sitting on the balcony on an evening enjoying the views. (The only room with a balcony). This was a fantastic hotel especially as its 2 star.
The room itself was large with a tv, desk, plenty of space to store your things. The bathroom had a great shower and side window.
The room itself had double doors that lead to the balcony and two other double windows that open. The room also had a ceiling fan, which needed to be faster to work well. Ideally air conditioning would be best in the rooms to cope with heat. It was 34 degrees when we were in Gargnano.
The breakfast had a good selection, cornflakes, bread rolls, yoghurt, croissants, tea, coffee etc. It was lovely having breakfast on the hotels terrace with the wonderful viewd if the lske each morning. Shades were on the terrace to keep you cool.
The hosts cannot be faulted, they were wonderful. They were always happy to help and always willing to chat. They provided information on anything we needed restsurants, places to visit, local shops etc.
Gargnano itself is a wonderful place to visit. It has beautiful views of Lake Garda, its not full of tourists, which was ideal. There are lovely cafes to sit and have lunch or dinner and admire the views of the lake, great restsurants too.
To summarise we had a wonderful stsy at the hotel and were looked after by the fantastic hosts. Thankyou

Dear Sirs,
your reporton our hotel fill us with satisfation. Unfortunately, you arrived during the hottest days and I can understand that you felt a bit too hot. Well, as we reached the maximun allowed electricity power, (so we cannot have AC), I will switch the ceiling fan to the higher speed.....
Thanks again.... hope to welcome you again....

We are leaving Garni Riviera today after spending 5 nights here. The Hotel is ideally placed in the very relaxing and pretty village of Gargnano. We stayed on the top floor in the Limone room, this room has 3 pairs of French doors letting in heaps of light and with fantastic views onto lake and mountains, the hotel is right on lakeside with a very quiet village road to rear. The room was well furnished and has a king size bed and a single, all very comfortable, no aches or pains. The shower works well, and no complaints for the bathroom. The room and hotel are tastefully decorated, breakfast served on beautifully placed and shaded verandah. The custard croissants and bread rolls were super, as was the coffee. All of the staff were kind and helpful, the owner Gian has a nice sense of humour and enjoys a chat if you want. The village has plenty of restaurants and bars, all were good. Car parking beneath the bus terminus was excellent at 3 euros a day, and just a minutes walk along the lake front walkway, a real bonus if you have a car, but ferries and busses make indepenent travel easy and relaxing. We visited most of the resorts around Garda, the east shore resorts were very busy and overcrowded even in early July. The west side was much more relaxing, the drive from Riva down to Salo is easy on quiet road. All in all a great hotel and very good value. We will be back!

Dear Customers,
I agree with you, when you write that this is one of the best spots in Garda Lake ( no chauvinism: I was not born here). Thanks a lot for your good report which fill us with pride, also if we must say that you had one of the nicest rooms. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay and, of course, my great sense of humour.....See you soon

We come to the Hotel Garni Riviera every year and it's so nice to stay there. The stuff are so friendly and give a lot of suggestions what you can do at lake garda. The rooms are nice and very clean, we loved the breakfast and you have a very nice view over the lake. We recommend a room with direct lake view. You can have a glass of wine in the evening at the nice terrace. The small village is nice and there are some good Restaurants there. It is not as crowded like "east side" of the lake.

Room Tip: room with direct lake view

Right from the first minute, it was clear this was a hotel with soul. As in how I should get the car to the car park and then walk back - "it is not New York - you won't get lost!" When I asked why he'd picked New York, he said he could have picked Cairo - then a long discussion followed about driving in Cairo. Interesting paintings and prints on the walls - none that you'll ever see except in a private house. The room we had was complete with balcony (worth the extra I'd say); wonderful to arrive after a longish journey and be able to emerge onto the balcony, sit in the warm September sunshine and look at L Garda and the mountains opposite. How could you not love that? The room itself had a few shortcomings - lack of storage space for example, the minute plastic 'glasses' in the bathroom, the one comfy chair. Breakfast is adequate rather than glorious. But the view from the breakfast terrace over the lake is worth more than all but the very best breakfast you've ever had. There are various entertainments including sitting and not doing much - to exploration. I took my road bike and had a great 17 mile ride up to Passo San Marco (on the way to Idro) - and then an even greater 17 mile descent including some lovely sweeping bends. Gargnano itself is just lovely. We took an overpriced boat trip over to Malcesine - found it to be full of tourists eating pizza - and were very happy to come back to easy, relaxed Gargnano. There are better hotels, probably some of them are in Gargnano - but if I go back there (and I will) then I want nowhere other than the Hotel Garni Riviera to enjoy the hosts, conversations about anything and everything, the views, and just the pleasant sensation of a place that suits.

Room Tip: Lake view.

Wow.... what a good review.....
True, you had one of the best rooms - others are not as large and well positioned - but what surprises is that you remember even the particular of Cairo.....
I't's a pleasure that you enjoy every small thing. By the way: thank you for your suggestions. We will try to improve the things you mentioned.
Breakfast: - not easy: we cannot have kitchen fires, on the room's floor,
Plastic glasses - they are really sad, I knopw, but glass cups are difficult to " handle". We are already looking for a better solution.
Comfy seats- At the time, we didn't want to "overload" the rooms, but it's true: one is not enough. Maybe two, smaller, ......
We hope to have the chance to welcome you again. Elisa and Gian
