After coming through a high tunnel hugging Lake Garda on a misty June evening Hotel La Terrazzina came into view. It's pretty yellow facade and beautiful flowers beckoned us in. My husband was shown the room by one of the owners and came out to the car and told me I would love it here. he was right! The room was decorated very simply, but very comfortable. The bathroom was modern and spotless. But the real draw here is the balcony hugging the hill with a million dollar view of Lake Garda. Even on a misty evening I was captivated by the long views in 3 directions. Besides the lake, there was a grove of olive trees below our balcony and below our side window (we were in a corner room) with a flower box overflowing with pink flowers, were a group of sheep grazing the hillside. It was idyllic. Dinner in the glass walled dining room was delicious. I had a fresh Lake Garda whitefish and green beans which had a light white cheese on them...suberb! Out waitress was a young woman who was so sweet, despite the language barrier. Breakfast which was included in the room price was also excellent. Upon checkout, we found out this is a family owned hotel. The gentleman who checked us in was the brother of the two women who took care of us at breakfast. The waitress who served us at dinner was the daughter of one of the woman. This family knows what excellent service entails. The only negative I could mention would be you must get in the car to visit other towns, not walkable to anywhere but that was not bothersome. The Lake Garda area was an unplanned stop for us due to rainy weather north of the Alps and because of La Hotel La Terrazina it has become a favorite.

Room Tip: Our room off a hallway behind the kitchen. Mentioned in some of the other reviews ts was a noise problem. We did not feel this way at all. The kitchen closed down before most people would go to bed and in the morning we heard no noise. Also, there is no pool, the Tripadvisor site did not let me change that in the review.

We have stayed at the Terrazzina on a number of occassions over the last five years, usually 2/3 times a year. A very good selection of meals are availlable, all prepared by umberto, one of the family. highly recommended.. His two sisters tend to your needs as if you were one of the family. Last but by no means least is the brother sergio who rules the roost and tends again to your wishes.the views are magnificent, the rooms very comfortableand the hospitality is the best i have experienced in all of my 70 years.A car is required as the hotel is a good distance from .Gargnano. A beutiful little harbour village on lakeside. There is many beutiful place to go on the area.

Room Tip: The terraces are very nice, but we prefer being on our own little balcony. I wont tell you the best room in case you are going in september and your there before us.

We have eaten at La Terrazzina at least twice on every trip to Lake Garda, since our first visit some years ago.The food, the people who run it,the view and the restuarant itself are all equally magnificent.Always greeted with smiles and warmth it's a quality of service that is top class. Our two,now teenage, girls have loved it since the first morning we dropped in for coffee and cake,it was a wonderful welcome to Lake Garda for all of us.As much as we are looking forward to this years trip to Tuscany our only regret is not being able to drop by to our very special La Terrazzina but never fear we will return another day.

This is a small family run hotel between Limone and Gargnano, just before the town of Gargnano on the main road. They have about 18 rooms, which were all renovated about five years ago. Typical of a 3* italian hotel, rooms are bright and clean, bathrooms also newly decorated, good water pressure in the showers, all rooms overlook the lake. Only the restaurant, with its balcony and sun terrace, is on the ground floor, the rooms go down below in three tiers overlooking the lake. As the hotel is situated up on top of the cliffs, there is no access to the lake. All rooms on the first tier have balconies, go down a floor lower and the rooms each have a small private patio. There are more rooms on a third level which are only accessable from the outside via their patios.
There´s a big tiered olive grove below the patios, extending to the cliff edge.
Breakfast is very good, fresh rolls, fruit, cheese ,ham ,salami, yoghurts, often homemade cake if there´s some leftover from the day before ( we had apple cake one day and a delicious dense nutty almond tart the next). Fruit juice and whatever you like to drink - no extra price for latte machiato for example, which I´ve often experienced in other hotels. Breakfast is served at the table individually (not buffet) and replenished as required. At one time they would also serve you breakfast outside on your patio at no extra charge, not sure if they still do.
Nice restaurant, serves pastas (homemade sauces) meat and fish dishes, various antipastis. No pizza. Can recommend the bressoala carpaccio and the gnocchi with gorgonzola which is served in a grilled cheese basket. One of the brothers cooks, the other brother and two sisters are occupied in the restaurant and reception. They seem to have a lot of local families for lunch at weekends and on bank holidays, always a good sign.
We´ve been coming here for 17 years and have always had a pleasant experience.
The only negative point is that it can be noisy if your room is under the restaurant (stools scraping on the floor), and also the sound of people passing your room in the corridor can be quite loud if they´re not considerate enough to keep their voices down.
Also to point out is that the hotel stands alone on the roadside, 2 or 3 km outside the town of Gargnano, if you go anywhere you really do have to take the car.
A room for three people (with double bed and sofa bed to sleep 1 or 2) costs €90 with breakfast or €70 without.
You can pay by visa, they now have a machine.

here are pictures of the hotel, howeer the site belongs to an italian tour company, bookings made here will incurr an agents fee.

Really nice place with great view over the Lake of Garda. The rooms are modern, clean and with balcony. The staff is very friendly, dinner and breakfast are a good value. Also the price is well! We felt very comfortable to stay there and can suggest this hotel.
