Perfect perfect holiday

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 8 Jul 2017via mobile
Just back from a two week break at Piantelle. We've been to many campsites across France normally using Eurocamp and this is the first time using the Dutch company Go4camp. I would recommend without a doubt. Mobile homes much newer with more space and more reasonably priced too. The Go4camp reps Fred and Janny were great - so friendly and helpful. The campsite was lovely and compact - we've normally gone for a larger full on one and decided to downsize this year and so glad we did. The kids ages 10 and 6 were able to dot about the site with no danger of getting lost etc. Great wee park, pool and the restaurant was probably the best campsite restaurant we've been to. Great food but still very informal and relaxed and again reasonably priced. Everyone on site was so friendly and approachable. The kids club was good. Initially I thought it was slightly repetitive with the same songs every day and night but our kids adored it and we actually grew to love them too! After all if they are happy we are! They were just great with the kids and because we were there at a relatively quiet time were able to pop in & out of the
Mini club when it suited. An all round perfect holiday. Thank you Piantelle- we will definitely be seeing you again.

My wife and I stayed for 2 weeks at the end of May 2017,returning again after 8 years, it was still the best campsite ever.
With plenty of amenities (spotless), a shop, resteraunt, etc on site,(and we must recommend the resteraunt too) , fantastic food/service, we stayed on lakeside pitch with a campervan, and it was just bliss.
Also supermarket close, and moniga with its markets etc all at hand.
Thanks to all the staff, and owner, who were always at hand for info etc.
    See you again next year,

We stayed in a Canvas holiday mobile home in August 2016 at Camping Piantelle. The campsite was compact, quiet, clean and the staff were very friendly. The restaurant serves decent pizzas and pastas but we experienced better quality food elsewhere. Fantastic pool, very clean, and there were always lots of sunbeds. It was a bit deep (4ft) for my son who is not a strong swimmer but it actually forced him to swim out of his depth which he had never done before. Fellow guests were lovely and well-behaved, lots of Dutch and Germans. Great little shop on site for delicious breakfast pastries and bread. Entertainment in the evening for little ones was a bit repetitive. We loved walking along the beautifully lit lake path in the evening to go for gelateria and limoncello at the Darsena restaurant at Moniga port. Great lake for swimming in, with a beach at the campsite, but bring your beach shoes!

We had a car and made the most of the entire lake, visiting Malcesine, which we reached by boat from Salo, getting the cable car up the mountain for some amazing views. We also saw Sirmione, Torre del Benaco, Gargano, and had a day out in Verona. We also went to Gardaland, which was a great theme park with some thrilling rides. We went there in the evening, which was not only cheaper but much more bearable than going during the day. Great places for lake swimming were Gargano and Torri del Benaco. On a couple of occasions, we got stuck in lakeside traffic and decided to go off the beaten track to charming and rustic mountainside restaurants, including Hosteria da Lidia, above the beautiful town of Salo. Would love to go back to this area, simply stunning!

As someone who usually stays in hotels and hasn't had a chalet holiday in a long time, my expectations were of a fairly basic site and minimal facilities. However, Piantelle was a hit from the moment we arrived until our final fab dinner of the holiday. We booked through Roan/Go4Camp, who were great (along with the onsite Piantelle reception team) and they were excellent (and cheaper than booking through a UK operator for the same product). Chalet was spotlessly clean and well equipped and in a fab location at the back of the overall site - so it was extremely quiet (surprisingly). The pool was also very clean and the landscaped sunbathing area well tended. The best surprise was the onsite restaurant - no fries and crappy burgers here, they served AMAZING Italian cuisine from prosciutto platters and spicy mussels to the most exquisite pizza and giant bowls of pasta. All super fresh, utterly delicious, ridiculously affordable and huge portions. And the must-drink cocktail of the summer was the Aperol Spritz, which they do very well! The site is also very handily located for access to other great spots around the lake. Only downside (as I am always working when I travel sadly) is that the wifi is only in public areas, but that's no biggie. Would definitely recommend.

Room tip: Opt for a chalet towards the back of the site for a quieter experience

    Dear CuriousTravellerDXB

Thank you for your kind words and review. We are very glad you had a good time. We agree about the restaurant - most of us eat there on a very regular basis... delicious. Happy to have possibly converted you from hotels! We will take on board the Wifi suggestions. As it is free we have had to limit it to four areas however we will look into the feasibility of extending this.

We hope you come back soon,

    Giuliana

We booked with Roan the Dutch company as it was cheaper than booking with a UK provider. Excellent management couple who helped every step of the way and really great mobile home (Go4Camp.com Casa Royal mobile home).

We hadn't done this kind of holiday as a family before so we were unsure of what to expect but it was really easy. The site is quite small (apparently) and the part we stayed on (Roan and Go4Camp area) was grassy. The pool area was great (lovely grass!) and the pool was clean.

The most impressive thing we found was the campsite restaurant. Excellent prices (despite the Euro situation) and the quality was outstanding.

The staff in all areas of the campsite are friendly and helpful and all speak English.

I can't comment on the other areas of camping and the shower blocks etc as we didn't use them. If you aren't sure about this kind of holiday i would recommend a mobile home as it's a good interim step between a hotel and a tent!!!

Our kids LOVED this campsite - it's small enough to walk everywhere, has a great pool and kids entertainment in the daytime and evenings.
We thought it was good too - it was very clean, the staff were very friendly, and it is in a great location next to the lake. The food was pretty good too.
The downsides are that it is in a very busy part of Lake Garda, and it's quite noisy in the evening - so don't go here if you want a relaxing time!

    Dear Dan,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are happy you had a good time and your children enjoyed it too. The period you were in the area is indeed quite busy around Moniga. It is a popular destination. However we are with you on wanting peace and quiet so after 11pm, at least in Piantelle, everything is switched off for some good rest. If you want to see the lake when there are less people around come back in June, July or September (school holidays permitting). It is just as beautiful but slightly less people.

We hope to welcome you back soon, and happy first day back at school to the children!
