Agriturismo Cascina Crocelle
Reviewed 14 August 2013

We, a family of 4 visited Cascina Crocelle earlier this summer and had a great time. The appartment was very clean and of a nice standard. The garden and the pool were great, and the view breathtaking. Really great to be able to sit with a view in the evening enjoying a nice glass of wine from the winebar.

Padenghe itself is a quiet village, with only few restaurants. However, it does not take long by car to get to other villages in the area.

Definately a place to go back to if we ever visit the area again.

We were one of two families staying for a week at Cascina Crocelle. Our apartment was 'Baldo' which is on the ground floor.
I was so struck by this place that I would happily return here year on year. It is gorgeous; we all loved Cascina Crocelle and our stay in Padenghe.
The climate is fantastic, we saw temperatures of about 30 degrees C, which was made comfortable by the almost constant breeze at Lake Garda.
Our hosts were very pleasant and generally there if needed, even outside 'reception times', but were not intrusive. It is apparent that this is their home as well as a business, and from the general appearance of Cascina Crocelle to the décor it shows!
The whole building has been impressively renovated to a high standard and retains much of its original structure. It provides a number of apartments over 3 floors, and retention of the cellar. This includes one occupied by the owners. There is a lift to all floors. The whole place gives stunning views over the town and Lake Garda. Photos do not do it justice.
The grounds have been landscaped to include an upper grassed terrace, which has sun loungers, tables, chairs and parasols. The lower terrace is also grassed and has a pool too. There is a charcoal BBQ available for use too.
Cleaning/ linen/ towel change is once a week. There are bathing as well as domestic towels though.
Our apartment had a double bedroom (the bed was very comfortable), kitchen with lounge area, which had a sofa bed, table and chairs. The kitchen was fully equipped with electric oven, gas hob, sink, fitted fridge and freezer. there is also an LCD TV. These rooms both had air conditioning, and a wood burning room heater in the lounge- don't know if this is a feature or is functional, and at 30 degrees C outside I wasn't about to light it and find out. The bathroom had shower, bidet, toilet and fitted hair dryer. The doors and windows have multiple seals and are double glazed, and I would say with solar control glass, helping to keep solar gain to a minimum (there are no shutters on the windows). Outside we had a covered terracotta tiled patio, which had a table and chair set- great for breakfast and getting out of the midday sun!
We stayed on a room only basis; however breakfast can be taken at Euro 8 per person extra. It was very well presented, but I can't comment further. There is no provision for other meals but there is a wine bar that is open during the evenings which sells local wines, soft drinks and ice cream.
The pool is heated to about 28 degrees C. There are steps at the shallow end and access ladder at the other which is deeper. At a guess the pool is about 5 feet deep at its deepest and about 3 feet at its shallowest- not including the stepped access. It is a figure 8 shape and is big enough for a leisurely swim.
There is a large swing and sand pit for children to play on. House rules are that children have to be supervised near the pool, which might be wise anyway due to its depth and the fence which allows a great view from the pool, but little to prevent straying down the steep bank below.
One previous review says it is noisy here however how noisy or quite your stay here is dependent on the other guests, as with any other accommodation, but the double glazing does help keep any noise out. There are also house rules with quite times between 13:00 to 15:00 and after 23:00.
If you are staying here you need your own transport to make the most of the area. The town is just a short walk/ cycle down the hill where there are shops able to supply you with groceries for the week, as well as a handful of bars and restaurants.
There is plenty to see and do in the area, depending on what you want out of your holiday. Having had a week in the mountains further North we were happy to spend our time lounging, taking in the view and the sun!
If you stay here I hope your stay is as great as ours was.

Room Tip: Baldo has a great aspect, but some of the upper floors might be better, but won't have the cover...

This agriturismo looks nice, but we were disappointed when we stayed there. There is little space for children to enjoy. The swimming pool is small en dangerous because of the bad fence. The owners are very commercial and you have to check your bill. The wine bar is noisy and hinders you in playing around there. Our apartment was not cleaned very properly.
