Really enjoyed our weekend break at this charming hotel. Rooms were lovely and the staff were really friendy and helpfull. A wonderful town too with lots to do in the area and of course Lake Maggiore is simply stunning. Will definately recommend and go again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a balcony that overlooks Lake Maggiore - stunning views!

My wife and I stayed here for three nights. From the beginning to the end of our visit we were impressed by the quiet calm efficiency of this hotel and all members of its staff. There is a vast amount of public space for relaxing and the breakfast buffet was comprehensive and very tasty.

Arrived in Cannobio in huge storm in early evening, my satnav did not have Marconi street the hotel's address, and nearest street turned out to be pedestrians only. From Milan take the right turn just before the cobbles start into Petronelli, and 100 metres down is the hotel's parking garage. It has an electronic gate, so we parked temporarily in the entrance and walked the 200 metres to the hotel down cobbled streets. Reception will give you the gate opener for your stay and parking is free. We have room 4 and I am writing this review from the balcony with views down the Lake. The hotel is small and intimate with a lovely breakfast room with a fresco'd ceiling and antique furniture.

The rooms are comfortable and the mattress and pillows very good. There are steps everywhere, even from the bathroom down to the sleeping area in our room.

Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Obviously try and get a lake view

Very helpful staff . Free bikes too for cycling around the town and up the valley. Rooms furnished in antiques which help to set a romantic mood . Almond tort was hard to resist at breakfast which was served in another delightful room

Room Tip: We stayed in room 2: a bit small, but with lovely balcony overlooking the lake

One hundred and thirty-two ”Excellent” TripAdvisor citations, and not a single negative review (as at 25 September), speak for themselves, and we can only whole-heartedly endorse what other reviewers have said about the Pironi. This is a jewel of a small hotel, housed in a 15th century palazzo, a Franciscan monastery at one time, beautifully restored, furnished with old antiques, and with frescoes adorning the walls. On the first floor, and open to all guests, there is a splendid salon with a lovely fireplace, ideal for relaxing, reading, or working (if you must! …. a PC and printer is available). The Pironi is one of the most charming hotels we have stayed in for a long time.

Apparently all rooms are different. Ours was very comfortable and had a very high ceiling, with a ladder leading to a platform with a spare bed and sitting area. There was a good modern bathroom. The welcome was warm and highly efficient.

An excellent and rich buffet breakfast is served in another splendid room, with frescoed walls and ceilings and with an original terracotta floor.

The Pironi has a small bar and tavern in a cellar room, but has no restaurant. However, there are plenty of restaurant choices nearby.

We came by train/bus and so didn’t require the free car parking facilities.

Tip, or perhaps of word of caution rather: Speaking of buses – and this has nothing to do with the Pironi – the bus stop is a short distance away from the hotel, where there are frequent buses to either Stresa-Verbania railway station or the short hop across the border to Brissago (where you change/connect to a Swiss bus) and the Swiss town of Locarno. Timetables are available, but don’t seem to be too rigorously adhered to on the Italian side. In our experience – and reportedly that of other tourists to the region – buses were either running significantly late, or, worse, departed from Brissago a minute or two before scheduled departure time! In contrast buses on the Swiss side are usually very punctual. From Cannobio you can also reach Stresa or Locarno by boat on Lago Maggiore, which is an enjoyable experience, although frequency of services are fairly limited.

From the moment we arrived until it was time to leave we loved this place. We took a package of accommodation, dinner, drinks, breakfast and ferry to islands and everything was perfect. The rooms are clean, with modern bathrooms, the restaurant is downstairs or a short walk away on the promenade. Reception was most helpful and other staff lovely. On Sunday there were markets on the promenade with great shopping and lots of atmosphere, during the week it was much quieter and very relaxing. We stayed 3 nights but could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: The room above the restaurant is lovely but could be noisy if busy. However with double glazing it...

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Pironi last week.It is difficult to add to the already glowing Reports this hotel receives. We found it a delightful, classy, very well managed hotel full of charm. The rooms are well furnished and very comfortable. The breakfast maybe one of the best with plenty of choice.
