“Fantastic place and strategic location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 September 2013 via mobile

We are a family of 5 who stayed in Erbaluna for 3 nights. The location is in the small village of Oggebio. It is located between Stresa in the south (30 minutes) and Switzerland in the north (30 minutes), thus giving flexibility to anyone who wishes to cover these areas of Lago Maggiore. Perfect.
The view from the apartment can be only described as unbelivable. It has aterrace overlooking the lake, its quite, clean, well equipped, comfortable and it gives the feeling of a place you want to come back to after a long day of travelling.
The owner is super nice and helpful. I highly recommend it

We stayed for 4 days at this wonderful place, Fantastic view of Lake Maggiore. Peace and tranquility. Fully equipped apartments with a small garden. Owners are marvelous and breakfasts on the patio overlooking the sparkling lake unforgettable. Very easy travelling to Stresa and the islands and Locarno Switzerland.

We got a very nice room with terrace and great seaview. It was very clean, large, with a nice bathroom shower, a large bedroom with sitting area with cable TV and kitchenette, complete with stove, refrigerator, and all the kitchen stuff (toaster, coffeemashine) you would need if you wanted to cook. Nice small hotel runs by a very nice and friendly couple! well done!!!

Room Tip: all the rooms are nice.

My husband and I had stayed for 6 nights. We went the first week of may 2012 and it is still not high season. We had the room with garden so we took breakfast outside and then move to read in a "shell" bed in the balcony with a magnificent view. The young couple that runs the 6 bedroom hotel is very nice and helpful. They give you all information about sightseeing upfront so you can relax and decide what is best for you. Oggebio is a great place to stay because you are "in the middle" of many other towns and attractions.

Room Tip: The best room is the one with garden which also has a sort of balcon-view, the others have less priv...

My wife and I stayed at an apartment of a great B&B in la Morra from June 3 to June 5 2006. We had a wonderful stay there. Erbaluna is a small family run organic vineyard that operates a bed and breakfast on the site of their vineyard and has a couple of apartments right outside of Barolo. We found the family who runs it super friendly (they spoke English quite well too). The breakfast was great, homemade cakes, home-made jams, home-made cheese, prosciutto, fruit, juice, yogurt. They packed a basket full of breakfast stuff for us to take to the apartment in case we didn't want to come back to the B&B for breakfast.

They gave us maps, made great restaurant recommendations (and even offered to make the reservations for us), and provided free wine-tasting and tours of their cantina. We called to make a reservation in their B&B but it was booked, so we opted for one of their apartments (we paid 75 Euros a night).

The apartment was very clean, large, with a nice bathroom shower, a large bedroom, a medium sized sitting area with cable TV and a small kitchen (complete with stove, refrigerator, and all the kitchen stuff you would need if you wanted to cook). From our apartment, it was a 10 minute walk to downtown Barolo. We rented a car so we could travel among all the really cute towns. The food in the region is among the best we found in Italy (and we've been living in Turin for the year and travelling around quite a bit).

I would highly recommend Erbaluna as a base to explore the Barolo region.

Two eating recommendations that I have for the area are a great wine bar in Alba called VinCafe (great cheese and meat plates), and a restaurant in a very small town of Verduno called Trattoria "Dai Bercau" (which served up a 7 course meal) including three apetizers, two first dishes, a second course, and a desert (27 euros). Also, if you go there try the Pelaverga, it is a grape that they only grow in this town in Italy...
