“Wholesome mountain style food”
Reviewed 30 June 2013

We had been recommended this restaurant for its good value food. It is situated about 3km up the hill from central Argengo. Try the pocinni polenta and veal casserole - fab!

“Don't Pay Bellagio Cooking Class Prices”
Reviewed 16 June 2013

Why pay for cooking classes in Bellagio, when just across the lake at Locanda Sant'Anna Restaurant is waiting for you to have the best cooking experience ever. A party of 4 made a reservation. We had one of the dining rooms to ourselves and the owner's (brother and sister) Lino and Bruna accomodated us. First we got a tour and the history of the restaurant by Lino while Bruna was getting prepared for us to sit down and make ourselves at home. Bruna is the chef, a great chef I may add. She prepared in front of us while we sat comfortably drinking the chosen wine by Lino, a Sommelier. He instructed us on wine, while Bruna instructed us on every detail of the meal. Questions were easily answered as both spoke excellent english and communicated very well. She wants the meal to be a meal that when you leave you can stop by the grocery and pick up the ingredients and go home and make it. She succeeded, in my opinion. Don't forget your camera as the building and little area, complete with it's own church, are worth the photos. I would recommend a video camera with a tripod to get the whole experience. BTW: 1/2 the cost of Bellagio cooking experiences. We left very full. It took about 2-1/2 to 3 hours. Most enjoyable thing we did in our two months in Menaggio. Prior to leaving we will be going back for a dinner or lunch. I believe they are closed on Thursdays to the public for their cooking classes. For dining, it has a great outdoor seating area, too.

“Lovely food in a great location”
Reviewed 17 August 2012

Just a few minutes drive up the hill from the busy road around Lake Como is the village with two hotel / restaurants side by side. We went here and had a late lunch following a morning in Como. It was a lovely quiet location with extensive gardens. Food was very good with some interesting choices on the menu. On reflection we decided that this was the meal we most enjoyed whilst we were in Italy.

“Great food in a relaxed setting”
Reviewed 6 August 2012

Food was excellent local cuisine (fresh pastas, homemade boar sausage, etc). The waiter made an excellent recommendation without trying to up sell from the (surprisingly extensive) wine list. The terrace was cleverly engineered to provide an outdoor experience, even if it rains. Well worth the drive up the mountain to escape the crowded lakeside scene.
