Como and the lake of Como is a very touristy area, as you have to go the extra mile to find a place that is not overrun by tourists and a rip-off. We drove along Lago di Como took the ferry from Bellaggio to Varenna and then south a few miles down to Lierna to find place which felt a bit off the beaten track – at last we felt that it was at that time of the day (using the Michelin app we had filtered for restaurant with two or three “cutleries”). We were the only guests calling in on this hot midsummer Friday noon. We sat on the terrace where the owner met us and we relaxed a bit before ordering. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. We ordered our starts and mains (secondi) which arrived and were prepared with sophistication. It was actually very good value for money (80 Euros including a glass of wine and prosecco) which is excellent value as the as the quality was really very good, scenery was priceless and we have considered that the Como area does come with a “supplement” generally. We don’t know how this would be in the evening but I guess this would make an attractive, elegant place for a romantic dinner.
Overall, we liked it although there was some extra spark missing. We would come again but probably would try for a dinner which will make a better atmosphere.
