“Total relaxation!”
Reviewed 14 March 2013

Our second stay in La Montana at Casa la Ventana was as wonderful as the first stay last year. This time we stayed 10 wonderful days in early March 2013. Temperatures were perfect - cool in the morning and evening (perfect for sleeping) and warm, sunny and breezy during the day. Coffee delivered first thing to our room was a treat, followed by amazing, healthy breakfasts in the Tree House. Spectacular views from there and our private veranda right off our room greeted us 24/7. Christina was the ultimate host, willing to arrange our dinner reservations at Le Kliff and the quaint Ocean Grill, located a half hour hike through the jungle (on a marked trail) to a beautiful little beach at Colomitos. We were delivered back to Boca by boat after the meal. The massages with Cesar in the Tree House were heavenly - be sure to book this for your stay! This Casa is up 100 steps, so we used that as our cardio workout each day. Evening meals were at local Boca restaurants, all the food lovingly prepared and at very reasonable prices!
I cannot say enough about how relaxing our vacation was. We could be busy or do nothing. If you want a shot of city-life or to shop for souvenirs at the Flea Market, Puerto Vallarta was a quick 30 min. bus ride, for only 7 pesos.
New this year is a lovely chlorine-free pool and palapa lounge area. The pool is solar heated and was a perfect 78F. We used it every day.
If you are looking for a place to relax that is not a resort, THIS is the place!
Casa La Ventana gets 5 STARS!

We originally booked just 3 nights at Casa La Ventana but were lucky to be able to extend for an entire week when we discovered how comfortable we were there. Breakfasts were amazing and the local choices for other meals were plentiful. There is so much available to do nearby and Christina is a wealth of knowledge on the area. A true Mexican village experience without sacrificing luxurious comforts.

I spent only a few days in this little paradise. Christina is the most wonderful, gracious host; a quality which greatly enhances the experience in this already peaceful and beautiful setting. Casa La Ventana boasts a beautiful, secluded pool, clean and large quarters with a full patio, and views of the mountain, oceans and jungle. Christina cooks a delicious breakfast every morning, and fresh coffee is served at your door each morning. You can receive a personal massage in the open air top terrace, or go to the neighboring islands to explore all kinds of natural wonders. If you are an experienced horseback rider (or if you just like horses), be sure to schedule a one-of-a-kind horseback tour with Boca's own talented local, Pippo. Did I mention the amazing, fresh Mexican food? And the lovely, welcoming people? What a special place. I can't wait to go back!

We spent a week as guests at the fabulous Casa La Ventana in Boca de Tomatlan, Mexico. We found ourselves surrounded by peaceful beauty, interspersed with the sounds of village life. Christina, the Inn Keeper, makes Casa La Ventana so much more than a bed-and-breakfast. Her warmth, charm, intelligence and care for the community made us feel a part of the life around us. Great birding from the many levels and verandas. If you want to spend some time in Mexico, not in a generic international resort, this is the place. In addition, its' proximity to the wonderful Puerto Vallarta Botanical Garden is an added bonus. If you are anywhere near Puerto Vallarta the Botanical Garden is not to be missed. Absolutely beautiful with a great restaurant.

Great scenery, colourful birds, nightly songs from the geckos, wonderful breakfasts and a fascinating and attentive hostess. What more could you want. Perhaps the occasional kayak out into the Bay and nighlty feasts of shrimp or fish of the day out on the beach. We will be back.

I had 5 magic days staying at Christina's Casa. Apart from the delicious breakfasts. Christina organised sea kayaking trips, yoga and massage, special dinners in Boca and just anything that guests wanted to do.I loved it all and we were lucky with the warm winter weather. Thank you again Christina - as well as Chuppa and Xochiel, your friendly and supportive staff. I'll be back!!

My wife and I decided to spend our anniversary at Casa La Ventana this past October. It is easily one of the most enjoyable places we've stayed. Christina is an excellent hostess, and went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. Our first night at CLV had that certain magical quality that good vacations produce.

I'm a birder, so I got up early the first morning and let my wife sleep in. It was pretty great watching the sun come up. It was quiet at first, but suddenly all the insects took off as soon as the sun came over the mountain, and that's when the activity began. White collared and chestnut collared swifts appeared in the sky above. Golden cheeked woodpeckers, Mexican cacique, social flycatchers, rufous backed robins, masked tityra, and orange fronted parakeet were easily viewed from my balcony.

Breakfast was delivered to us after all this excitement and was excellent. As we ate, an iguana dropped by to say hello in a tree next to the balcony. A West Mexican Chachalaca later briefly appeared right outside our front door.

We later took a suggested hike through the jungle along the coast to a restaurant that most tourists get to by boat. Christina said to keep an eye out for Military Macaws as we hiked. This suggestion proved accurate, as they flew overhead a number of times, but comically just as any view of the sky was blocked by trees.

I later saw the Military Macaws from my balcony. It was a pretty big rush. I'm very pleased with my stay there. If we ever visit PV again, we will definitely be staying here. Boca is far enough outside of PV that it is pretty tranquil, and there are a lot of birds. I'm glad we decided to spend most of our trip here, instead of San Blas, as our time at Casa La Ventana was much more enjoyable than our time up at San Blas. I also recommend hiring Alejandro Martinez Rodriguez as a guide. He got me almost everything I was looking for, including rosy thrush tanager.

I should warn those that do not like to walk that it is a bit a of trek up to the hotel, which is what makes it so special. You have to cross a bridge and hike for about 10 minutes up the hill to get to CLV. We were there at the end of the rainy season, so we also had to cross through a small stream. If you are looking for a mega hotel that could be found in Florida, look elsewhere. Casa La Ventana is for those who are looking for a more authentic experience, and the rewards that such an experience provides.

Thank you for this informative birder's perspective on Casa La Ventana. I am so happy to hear that it meets a professional birder's expectations. Return soon! Return often. I always love the new insights of our birder friends and find my eye being trained under your tutelage.
