OK, let it be known, I am only rating the restaurant here. My GF and I were motorcycling by here and decided to stop for lunch.
First, let me say, the ambiance and presentation of the overall hotel is very nice: seems cushy and well-taken care of, at least on the surface.
And the beachside restaurant is very nice, with lots of wooden floors, bamboo and antique Filipino furniture.
We sat at a table oceanside and had a great view of the beautiful white-sand beach and sparkling water, as we looked in the distance at Apo Island and Oriental Negros island. Very charming indeed.
Then we come to the 'not so good' stuff, namely the waitress and the food. Our waitress was very cold, unsmiling and not at all welcoming. OK, I can accept that. However, when she served our food ~ my German bratwurst and mushroom soup and my girlfriend's ham steak, any smiles we had left, evaporated.
My GF found her ham steak very unappealing. I tried it to give a second opinion and must say, it certainly tasted like a pre-packaged steak, likley unfrozen and cooked. Very untasty.
My mushroom soup was equally tastless. Well, actually, it tasted like too much flour and dairy, and way too little mushroom taste.
The German bratwurst was perhaps the best part of the meal. I'd give it a solid 7/10. However, the side of fried potatoes and vegetables (peas, cabbage, and carrots) was quite unappealing both from a presentation and taste perspective.
For almost 800 pesos ~ about USD 20 ~, I felt very ripped off.
The only redeeming feature was the great atmosphere and seaside views.
Would I return? Certainly not to eat. Perhaps as a day guest to use the beautiful and well-kept facilities, but absolutely not to once again suffer through the food they served us.
