We stayed mid March '14 for a week in Ocean View Condo #9. Generally, the hotel, staff, & beach are as nice as most reviews have described. Snorkeling ranged from good to excellent depending on the conditions. A rental car is highly recommended.
The rooms are very clean and as well maintained as can be expected in a tropical environment (sliding patio doors never seem to work well). The washer & dryer plus full kitchen were very nice to have. There were more than enough beach towels & extra linens provided. The room layout was ok. There is a thick screen of vegetation between the patios and the neighboring lot which added to a sense of privacy.
We gave 4 out of 5 because we thought some of the structural designs for the Ocean View Condos could have been better:
--The road next to the hotel is very busy during the day, and there is a lot of road noise while sitting on the patio.
--The patios should have been terraced to give a better view for all the Ocean View units.
--The parking lot is unattractive, landscaping would probably help.
--The showers for rinsing from the beach are not convenient for the Ocean View units.
--The high intensity security motion lights were obnoxious. Dimmer lighting would do the job just as well.
We thought the positives outweighed the negatives, however, and we'd stay in the Ocean View condo's again.
