We went to this resort in March, 2014. This place was much better than my expectation. Rooms are clean and comfortable. They also have a fridge in the room. The food was really good. We tried the special fish items like king fish, pomfret and squid. All were very tasty and cheap. The rooms have 2 balconies. The rear-side balcony opens up to a nice backward followed by a small lake. One can really relax here. There are activities like boating and fishing available in the lake that too for free. The beach is just a stone's throw from the resort. Very nice calm beach. Really enjoyable. The manager and the other people were very courteous and helpful. They even cleaned our car without asking. Overall nice big property, good food and relaxation. What else one can ask for an awesome holiday.

Room Tip: We look AC cottage. It was very good

I am writing this update in order to inform future travelers about this place, a bit in detail. My wife and I wanted break from corporate life and we decided to visit this place for 2night 3 day visit. Initially we were thinking of Jungle Lodges but we felt that overpriced. Majali beach is 9km from Karwar town. The mode of transport is not bad.

Avoid going there during summer. We went during March second week and we were sweating continuously. Night is little better, but yet the humidity will irk you. The resort has AC cottage, non-ac cottage, tree house and standard rooms. We stayed in a tree house. The place was clean. They have a pond (man made, salt water) behind the rooms. Its shallow water and safe. One can do kayaking for free. The view from any room will not let you watch sunset from room (not a big deal). The beach is not 'private', as fishermen and other local people often visit/travel around it.

We are vegetarians and food was bad. We had very less option to eat from. The food was bland. So, overall, restaurant is over priced, but there is no alternative to eat outside. One has to depend on the in house restaurant. They have hammock and beach wooden reclining bench to relax. The resort doesn't have any water sport facility, absolutely nothing. The activity must be done at Karwar beach, which needs travel and need to be planned by us independently. Avoid this place if you are visiting beach for some adventure. Staff members are courteous. One can visit to Tilmatti beach (5km ride/walk followed by 20min mild trek - each side). This place is surprisingly very clean. One can hire an auto for 300 Rs and the driver will ferry you in the vehicle, guide you along the trek to reach the beach and back. Its good experience.

Room Tip: Avoid non-AC rooms if going in summer.

Stayed at the resort in a standard room with the full family of parents, wife n kids and our pet!!
Enjoyed every bit of the stay
Best thing about the resort – sunset view from the beach just outside the resort and the fantastic service of the staff right from the minute you step in. The beach is literally endless – 2- 3 kms of pristine clean, sapphire blue beach
Took a standard room which was cooled by a ceiling fan and a table fan. Options available include tree house, wood house and an air-conditioned room. Only the tree house has a direct view of the sea….but we can feel the sea. Resort is just100 meters away from Majali beach.
Rooms are spacious and toilets are clean. We found it to be a bit hot in the afternoon inside the rooms – so would suggest an air-con for those bothered by hot & humid weather. Then again lazing in the hammocks is equally cool.
Just don’t forget a strong insect repellant while moving around. Good Knight/Electric mosquito repellant is provided in every room.
The place is 100 kms from Panaji or 550 km from Bangalore and is very very cost-effective! The landmark to look around the road is arrow markings for Ramnath temple/Devasthan along NH-17. Turn left off NH-17 if coming from Karwar beach/bus stand. The turn off is roughly 4-5 kms from Sadashivgadh or 10 kms from Karwar city.
Things to see at Karwar – Karwar beach, Sadashiv gadh, Warship museum, Gokarna temple ( 75kms – south), Goa – ( Panaji – 90 kms north)
Bookings are done on-line or through phone – no walk-ins are allowed.
Please beware – ALCOHOL is strictly prohibited on the resort site.
Activities include kayaking, pedal boats, free of charge use of facilities such as a carom board, table soccer, volley balls, badminton racquets, cricket set (tennis balls).
The resort serves a very good breakfast (included in the booking) of both Indian & continental dishes between 0900 -1000 hrs.
Fish dishes especially kingfish, pomfret & prawns are good. Taste could be better with the curries though. Variety of snacks is limited to 5-7 items – the Onion Vadas (a fatter version of the Kanda Bhajji/pakoda from Mumbai) is worth a mention
Travelling in & out of the resort would require some form transport (an auto rickshaw). The resort helps in this regards. But one can easily spend 3 nights straight lodged in at the place. In that case – please take some snacks to keep munching on

Room Tip: select the tree house which has a sea view!

I visited this place on 31st Jan 2014. This place is really awesome and value for money. The other option we had was devbagh beach resort which was priced at 8.5k per day . We paid 3k per day for an awesome cottage . They have a huge property with a private lake. One can do boating ,kayaking in the lake for free. You can stay in a wooden cottage or tree house for the experience but i would recommend the AC delux rooms which have two balconies . one facing the sea and the other facing the lake. It has got a fridge and clean rooms. The food at the resort is really awesome . Do try the prawns saale ,kingfish and pompfret .The beach is almost secluded. If you are lucky you visit could coinincide with a low tide when you can walk through shallow water to a small island . sit relax and enjoy the sunset.
It is close to the tilmatti beach (recommended for young folks as it invoves a trek). There is nothing to see in Majali but for those who want some time off partying and wish to relax this place is a must do . They have indoor game (carron ,froos ball, volleyball, kayaking, football, cricket ) . For foodies do try the snapper at Hotel Amrut in Karwar.

Do book you accomodation in advance and follow up once before check in . They do not allow walk in .This place is not flaunted by tourists so you could have the entire resort to yourself . Service is good and the property is worth staying .

We stayed in this resort during Christmas and really enjoyed our stay. Since this was the only resort on the beach, the beach was not at all crowded. It was quite peaceful indeed.
About the resort - Rooms were new and clean but due to peak season we found them a little overpriced. The staff was courteous. There aren't any restaurants nearby so one will be forced to have all the meals in the resort. Also the taste of the food was okay.Overall, we had a comfortable and a relaxed vacation.

We stayed in Majali Beach Resort for the new year 2013. Its location is excellent with private lake and a beach. Rooms are spacious and clean. Has a nice sit out as well.
They can improve on Room service (currently there is no room service which was bit disappointing) and Food options in the restaurant. We also observed that breakfast timings were just 8 - 10 am and they informed this around 9 am. So we had to rush for the breakfast.
But they arranged campfire, music and crackers on 31st night which was a pleasant surprise.

Overall, with bit of a improvment, its excellently located quite place to relax & unwind!

Room Tip: All rooms have good view, but rooms facing lake are better.

Yes this was the best beach I ever went,After reading the bad reviews,I had second thoughts to book this place, but due to last minute changes I booked one beach facing room.
The room was very clean, quite close to the beach and had a balcony facing a small lake.
I like the resort policy of no alcohol as I was able to relax completely without watching tv or having a drink- a complete relaxation with nature.
This was my first visit to Karwar and hopefully will come again. I suggest every tourist to experience this kind of peaceful beach holiday.

Room Tip: Request the beach facing rooms, they are just a minute walk to the beach
