We arrived at the Regina in the afternoon to be met by the assistant Manager Anastasia and a porter as we stepped off the coach. When ever you go on holiday you always drive past hotels and hear others say 'I wouldnt want to stop there' as you go about the various hotel stops, but you would never hear one person say that about the Regina as it looks the best within Skala.
We were escorted to the Hotel Reception to check in and given drinks and cakes as we booked in before being escorted to our room by Anatasia. Anatasia was very helpful, freindly and really went out of her way to make your stay special.
We were allocated a lovely room with a superb sea view. The rooms are superb, modern and well equipped. Our room had a balcony looking onto the beach/sea and a jacuzzi bath. The room has air con, mini bar/fridge, TV and the room was cleaned daily with fresh towels.
The pool bar serves snacks and meals to a very good standard. We didnt eat in the restaurant in the evening and we regret this as it was very popular with many diners coming from other hotels. Breakfast starts at 07.00 as there is a big variety of hot and cold breakfast buffet style with greek style bacon, egg and sausage.
The swimming pool is lovely and there are plenty of sunbeds and sunshades for everyone as well as having your own Regina sunloungers and sunshades on the beach.
There is Wi-Fi around the pool and bar however it appears that only one person could log on at any one time so you may have to wait to log on.
There is a supermarket next door to the hotel which is open until about 10pm.
To get the most out of your holiday we can't recommend anything more than hiring your own speed boat. I will say it is expensive, but so so worth it. It costs 95 euros for the day and you have to pay extra for the fuel (approx (40 euros). Now I know this is alot but can you put a price on speeding along the coast to various beaches that are not accessable by road and dropping anchor and spending aslong as you want on your own beach with not a sole in sight or snorkling over the bluest of blue water. You dont need any special licence to hire these and your given a quick lesson what to do, they are so easy to use believe me. Whilst cruising back we saw two dolphins swimming along which just topped off a superb trip. The company can be found on the beach and its where you can do a number of watersports and you usually have to book two days in advance. The company even supply a cool box so all you need to do is fill it up. The only problem i found with the trip is I couldnt get my wife off the steering wheel as she just hogged the driving.
All in all Skala is a great place for a quiet relaxing time, dont go here if you want to party the night in loud bars and nightclubs as all is relaxed here. But do visit Captains Bar for the best cocktails and its happy hour 7pm-9pm.
I would certainly come back to Skala and wouldnt go anywhere else than the Regina Del Aqua Resort.
