We arrived at the Regina in the afternoon to be met by the assistant Manager Anastasia and a porter as we stepped off the coach. When ever you go on holiday you always drive past hotels and hear others say 'I wouldnt want to stop there' as you go about the various hotel stops, but you would never hear one person say that about the Regina as it looks the best within Skala.
We were escorted to the Hotel Reception to check in and given drinks and cakes as we booked in before being escorted to our room by Anatasia. Anatasia was very helpful, freindly and really went out of her way to make your stay special.
We were allocated a lovely room with a superb sea view. The rooms are superb, modern and well equipped. Our room had a balcony looking onto the beach/sea and a jacuzzi bath. The room has air con, mini bar/fridge, TV and the room was cleaned daily with fresh towels.
The pool bar serves snacks and meals to a very good standard. We didnt eat in the restaurant in the evening and we regret this as it was very popular with many diners coming from other hotels. Breakfast starts at 07.00 as there is a big variety of hot and cold breakfast buffet style with greek style bacon, egg and sausage.

The swimming pool is lovely and there are plenty of sunbeds and sunshades for everyone as well as having your own Regina sunloungers and sunshades on the beach.
There is Wi-Fi around the pool and bar however it appears that only one person could log on at any one time so you may have to wait to log on.
There is a supermarket next door to the hotel which is open until about 10pm.

To get the most out of your holiday we can't recommend anything more than hiring your own speed boat. I will say it is expensive, but so so worth it. It costs 95 euros for the day and you have to pay extra for the fuel (approx (40 euros). Now I know this is alot but can you put a price on speeding along the coast to various beaches that are not accessable by road and dropping anchor and spending aslong as you want on your own beach with not a sole in sight or snorkling over the bluest of blue water. You dont need any special licence to hire these and your given a quick lesson what to do, they are so easy to use believe me. Whilst cruising back we saw two dolphins swimming along which just topped off a superb trip. The company can be found on the beach and its where you can do a number of watersports and you usually have to book two days in advance. The company even supply a cool box so all you need to do is fill it up. The only problem i found with the trip is I couldnt get my wife off the steering wheel as she just hogged the driving.

All in all Skala is a great place for a quiet relaxing time, dont go here if you want to party the night in loud bars and nightclubs as all is relaxed here. But do visit Captains Bar for the best cocktails and its happy hour 7pm-9pm.

I would certainly come back to Skala and wouldnt go anywhere else than the Regina Del Aqua Resort.

We have just returned from a week at the hotel and enjoyed it very much. The staff were very attentive and friendly with the manager meeting at the bottom of the hotel. I say the bottom as it rises 6 floors above with things on every level, swimming pool and restaurant/bar on 2, reception and breakfast room on 4, rooms on 2,3,4,5 & 6.It is a maze of steps and balconies and has real character. Bad points, breakfast is repetitive and sometimes on the cool side, the basin taps, if not turned completely off drip, not in the sink but directly on the surround. We got up on our last morning to find water all over the bathroom floor and out as far as the room door itself, it is a bad design. The spa bath is very effective however, if somewhat noisy but all the rooms have them. General room cleanliness is good but attention to details, like cleaning behind the shower door, under cupboards and cutains isn't that great. The pool is excellent and the area around it is always kept clean and tidy. Umbrellas and beds belonging to the hotel are on the beach which is literally a few steps across the road and free to those staying in the hotel. Small fridges and safe in every room but NO kettles. Drinks are only available from the pool bar during the day including tea and coffee. All in all a good hotel we did enjoy ourselves.

When you see Regina Dell Acqua, your jaw will drop. It is a stunning hotel located right across the street from beautiful Skala beach. Not only is it the nicest hotel in Skala, I would argue that it's the nicest hotel in all of Kefalonia. In fact, I love this hotel so much that my husband and I decided to get married there. We were married on June 26, 2010. The night was perfect. The hotel staff was friendly, professional and very attentive. All of our guests were amazed and said that it was the best wedding they had ever attended. The food was delicious and the home made sangria was fabulous! We danced the night away around the gorgeous pool side, under a sky of starts and a full moon! Our night was made especially perfect thanks to the help of Evaggelos and Natasia. They both did everything in their power to make sure that my husband and I had the perfect wedding. They met with us multiple times before the wedding to make sure that every detail was planned and perfectly executed. We had a food tasting to ensure that the menu was to our liking. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the two of them. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. I recommend you stay there on holiday, I recommend that you hang out by the gorgeous pool and I recommend that you have your dream wedding there - just like my husband and I had ours. Thank you, Regina Dell Acqua, for making our fairy tale wedding come true. You are the best!

This is a perfect relaxing place to say especially for couples without children, everything is relaxed with no rush to secure sun beds round the pool.
Free Wi-Fi in reception and pool area
Watching the sun rise over Skala beach is recommended for any early rises.
Rooms are cleaned every day with fresh linen, beach towels are changed every other day.
Most rooms have 2 single beds.
Breakfast facilities do include a toaster for those still concerned from earlier reviews
Totally agree with previous review especially regarding the pool and being careful with the Jacuzzi!!!
Skala centre is a pleasant 10-15 minute amble along the beach road.
Car hire or a trip to see the island is recommended as Kefalonia is simply stunning and beautiful with some hidden gems either ancient ruins or views.

Perfect location, just outside of Skala. Near enough to make use of the extensive bars/restaurants, but far enough away so they don't intrude on your peace and quiet. In fact its a lovely walk after your meal. The hotel is a striking building as you approach, especially at night. Lifts take you from the entrance at road level if you can't do steps. The pool area is plenty big enough to accomodate the 38 rooms. When we were there the pool beds were empty till 1100 in the morning. No fighting for beds here. Everything seems geared to be at a more sedate pace, just what you need to unwind and get into relaxed mood. Food at the hotel, both from the pool and at breakfast is of a high quality. Have dinner overlooking the sea from the pool terrace, just a little bit special, and no more than you pay in Skala. Rooms are spotless, well maintained daily. Plenty of fresh towels etc. Jacuzzi needs care or you end up flooding the bathroom with bubbles...The island is not massive so a car for a day was plenty. If you really wanted to see everything then perhaps 2. Drive up to the top of Mount Enos, is a bit of an off road trek but well worth it. As is Assoss, beautiful. Would recommend Captain Vangelis and his glass bottomed boat (just along from the hotel towards Skala) , we took the trip to Fiskardo, good full day, excellent value. So in conclusion, a near perfect way to spend 2 weeks de-stressing from good old wet blighty. Love the greek way of living made all the better by the superb staff at this place. Thumbs up from us.

We had a week in Skala staying at the Regina Dell Acqua and in general we were very happy with the hotel and its amenities. The hotel is about a year and half old so the decor and fittings are all still near new. The room was a top floor sea-view (some rooms have obstructed views lower down) The room was clean, spacious and comfortable with a good little balcony..not private but didn’t really bother us. The bathroom was a good size with a bath/jacuzzi and separate shower, plenty of towels so all good there.. Nice pool area, which was never overly busy, lovely views of the surrounding beach areas. There is free internet in the public areas and rooms ..not particularly fast but it works OK for holiday use.
The staff are friendly and helpful doing there best to accommodate any requests you may have ..the service around the pool and outdoor café isn’t exactly speedy which is where things start to irritate but you adjust to island time after a few days.
The village of Skala (10 min walk) has a few small supermarkets – one that is right next door to the hotel (closes at 11pm) very handy for all your extra bits and pieces. The tavernas in the village all pretty much serve the same menus give or take but there a few gems worth going to. I’d recommend Old Times which is out of town a little. Bars - The Captains Bar was a good vibe and good cocktails also Pikioni for a more chilled experience, nice outdoor setting across from the beach with a great pool. Get yourself a hire car and head off to Poros and Sami not forgetting Myrthos Beach which is fabulous ..we drove around the entire island in about 6 hours plus lunch at Assos.
The niggles:
Breakfast is the big let down..Keeping the ever present wasps and bugs out of the open serving bowls was a big problem, the hot food wasn’t kept hot and the cold food not kept chilled. The selection was limited you couldn’t order freshly cooked food of any kind. I maybe wrong but most things weren’t fresh they were either tinned or frozen and re constituted..but I guess the logistics of a small island and road transport may have something to do with it. It may sound like a whinge but its certainly not up to standard of any 4 or 5 star hotel that I’ve experienced and that’s what we paid for! Having said this the few times we ate lunch at the café it was fine !!
The other minor niggle was the AC which cut out every time you opened a door or window – I understand the energy saving aspect but after coming and going several times a day in 35c+ heat you couldn’t return to a cool room ..again it sounds like moaning but try it for a few days and see how you go !
Overall I would stay here again, you can’t fault the position or general ambiance, it could do with some small improvements and the staff need some training in expedience. If your expecting a 5 star experience like a Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton ..your not going to get it though.

Visited Greece for the first time in June 2010 and had a wonderful time at the Regina dell'Acqua. Hotel is modern, attractive, comfortable, clean and the staff could not hve been more helpful. We found it to be a perfect location - just along the beach from Skala central but only a 5-ish minute pleasant walk into the town and the various tavernas etc. We generally took it pretty easy - with a nice pool at the hotel and the beach across the road - but also hired a car for 4 days to explore a bit more of the island which i'd definitely recommend. It is a beautiful island and there's a limit to how much one can do in Skala itself. For a relaxing holiday in nice surroundings (which we were after given that my wife was 5 months pregnant) would certainly recommend the Regina. From what i saw of other hotels in Skala we were certainly very pleased with our choice.
