I stayed at the Paspalis in August with my husband and daughter. The hotel was spotless - room tidied and bed made up every day plus regular change of towels. We diidn't have a particularly 'outstanding view' from our room - we faced the side road, however, it was pleasant to sit there in the shade and we have no complaints. Pool large and clean with plenty of sunbeds available throughout the day. The Paspalis is in the most stunning spot - directly oposite the beach - we made good use of both the pool and the beach. We hired a car for a week and would thoroughly recommend this - there is a lovely sandy beach just outside Skala which you will need a car to access. Skala itself is small and takes less than five minutes to walk to. We ate in a number of different tavernas - the Paspalis itself is very good ( we ate there 3 times) as is the Ta Pytharia, the Flamingo and Gourgouris ( be prepared to wait here) we also ate at the Pines - one meal was good the other not so! Meals at the Village and Symposium whilst not terrible were not as good as the others and were more expensive. Meals are generally less than 10 euro's so we usually ate for less than 45 euro's including beer and wine. Would I return to Kefalonia and/or Paspalis? I've never returned to a destination before, however, I will be tempted to return to both in the next couple of years.

Visited the Paspalis again in August, always a pleasure to go there as it's like going home. We were never ones to visit a place more than once until we found Kefalonia and over the last 20 years have been back 8 times. Since we discovered the Paspalis we have stayed there the last 5 times. Skala is our favourite resort. The location between the hotel and the sea couldn't be better. It's a nice quiet little town comprising of gift shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars and a church. There are some lovely restaurants along the sea front to try but if you don't want to leave the hotel all week Paspalis does the most amazing home cooked food. Evening dinner on the terrace is really lovely looking out on to the sea where the reflection of the moon meets the waters edge. It is really beautiful. The hotel is run by Nicos and his wife Sia, a lovely couple. Really helpful and kind. A wonderful place to relax and forget the real world. I would happily return every year. It's a little piece of paradise.

This may not be a 5* hotel but you get 5* friendliness, 5*value and 5*cleanliness. This small family run hotel is just across the road from the beach of Skala and roughly 400metres from the centre of Skala. Nikos and his staff look after you from the minute you arrive. The rooms are clean with tv fridge bathroom and balcony. There is a bar and a fabulous taverna, which is spotlessly clean, a lovely pool with sunbeds and parasols every thing you need for a relaxing holiday.

The staff at the paspalis are great, very helpful. Our room was a bit small and on ground level room 5 got no sun. Bathroom very small, but clean and tidy. However bit of shade good when so hot.

The location is brill, just roll out of bed go for breakfast then beach on doorstep. Also there are boat trips that can be booked and they pick up almost outside of hotel straight into boat and off you go and its cheaper than the tour operators prices.

Skala is a good resort to stay in plenty of choice in restaurants. We hired a car and travelled around the island too good to miss some great places....

Nickos is really laid back....however if you need anything he sorts it

Having been to the Paspalis on 7 occasions, we have got to know the resort, the hotel and the staff there very well. The hotel is in a great position, with the beach across the road and a nice 10 minute stroll from the town centre. There are many good restaurants within walking distance. However we think the Paspalis' restaurant is one of the best, with reasonable prices and a large and varied menu. The staff are absolutely brilliant, and incredibly friendly, and the owner, Nikos, is extremely helpful.

I'm a little suprised by the comments people have made regarding room allocation. If you have requested a particular room, DO NOT expect to get that room. Many reviewers on trip advisor complain about not getting the room they want. This IS NOT the fault of the hotel but the resposibility of the tour operators. The rooms themselves are very good, cleaned daily and towels changed on a regular basis.

For anyone wishing for a relaxed and stress free holiday the Paspalis is the place for you!

We can't wait to see Nikos and staff next year!

I have visited this hotel 1 week ago with my parents and the location is absolutely ideal. You go down 5 steps then cross the road and you are on the beach. Lots of sunloungers are available. The service is very good and the staff are kind and friendly. There are computers there to use if you want to use the internet. The rooms and basic and cleaned every day by the maids and clean bed sheets and towels are changed twice per week. The menu is not just Greek food there is a good selection of sandwiches and other food. The food and drinks are not expensive and tabs can be set up to a room. The price of the food isn't the only thing that is good the food is exceptionally cooked and tastes gorgeous. Overall a stunning hotel. Staying at the same hotel next year for the fourth time.

The Paspalis hotel is a very good 3 star and I would definately recommend it. The accommodation is good and the pool is lovely. I would recommend paying the extra for a balcony room as we had a lovely sea view and the ground floor terraces seemed quite dark.
Breakfast is your basic toast (lovely peach jam!), croissant, ham & cheese, cereals etc. It's a perfectly adequate start to your day and the view of the sea from the restaurant is so lovely.
As a previous reviewer stated, the bin men do wake you up at around 6 but it didn't bother us and we went straight back to sleep. Don't let it put you off going as you would miss a treat.
The owner, Nikos, is friendly and helpful, as are the staff in the taverna at lunchtime. The greek salad is lovely and my husband thoroughly recommends the sardines - freshly caught, we watched them being delivered at breakfast!
Skala is a lovely village. The local children come out to play in the square at night and we watched the locals celebrating a saints day with greek dancing. There are too many restaurants to choose from and we didn't manage to visit them all. We would definately recommend visiting Kavila taverna, Ta Pitharia taverna and The manor house. In all three the food was delicious. I particularly liked the fish of the day at Kavila and the atmosphere there is fab! The manor house is near the square and is nice and cool on a very hot day. We wouldn't recommend The old village restaurant as the service was slow and it wasn't really value for money.
It's worth visiting Captain's bar for a long cocktail before dinner and to soak up the good atmosphere. Two other bars we liked were Venue and Amerta. You need to walk up the main street towards the top to find Amerta but it's lovely and it's usually cooler up there.
We hired a car for 7 days and found plenty of nice beaches. There's a lovely pebbly one in between Skala and Poros with good snorkling. We also liked Anti-Samos beach, very pretty but get there early to avoid the crowds. Sami and Poros have lovely harbourside tavernas. We had nice food in Adonis in Sami and Captain Jerrys in Katelios. We did find petrol quite expensive, it was around 1.75 euros.
We had a fabulous holiday and would thoroughly reccommend staying at the Paspalis hotel and the island itself it beautiful. We will be going back!
