Thompson have done it again. Just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Aeolos hotel Skala.
Can you believe all the excellent reviews on this hotel? Simply yes!! Absolutely everywhere is kept spotless, The pool is exellent and the poolside sunbed area looks out over the sea towards Zante. The bathroom shower is the best Greek shower ever experienced:- eat your heart out power shower!!

Our holiday included breakfast which comprised fresh fruit salad with greek yoghurt and honey, toasts, fruit juice, coffee (plus cold meats/cheese) made for a great start to every day. Not to your liking, then order a full English breakfast for just £3.75! Just ask and the poolside bar will provide lunch or an evening meal if you cannot be bothered to go out for the day. Be assured that Chris, Angela and Michael will make your stay very memorable.

Skala (means steps) has a one mile sandy beach with numerous bars and tavernas stretched
out along the adjacent road (pedestrian pavement most of the way) so some walking is on the cards. The Aeolos hotel is situated at the North end of this beach set back 100 metres up the hill. This secluded location gives you the best of both worlds:- peaceful and yet no more than a few hundred metres from a good supermarket and tavernas. Do visit the Paspoulis (right out of the hotel) and the Nautilis (left out of the hotel), their food and ambiance is great.

Skala is quite a small resort but can provide plenty of 'trips' to see the island:- round the island
day trip, visit Zante or Icatha or an evening in Argostoli the capital (have a meal at the Kalafatis
taverna and watch the turtles swim by).

A really great holiday and hotel.

Had a great time a very chilled out place , not much to do (unless you go on excursions or hire a car) makes it very relaxing, this is a very hilly place and a beautiful Island, beach was ok stones and sand, you need shoes to walk on properly, the hotel bed and breakfast was basic could do with the rooms being a bit more upgraded, not really suitable for children under 5 as there is no children's pool, Angela, Chris and family the owners were great, very helpful and could not do enough for you, Michael the barman makes great drinks, if you turn left from the hotel road there is a fantastic Cake shop which is open most nights till 11pm, also along this road the restaurant called Old times, great food. If you turn right from the hotel road this takes you past a supermarket and some restaurants, but further on up the hill (turn upward where the horse and cart is) this takes you to Skala main strip, very good restaurants and great food. overall we had a relaxing 2 week break.

Room Tip: we had room 101 its on the ground floor, not too far up the hill , this room was on the end with a l...

We returned to the Aeolos Beach last month (June 2014) after visiting about a year ago. This is a really excellent small Greek hotel and certainly lives up to its description in the Thomson brochure of "Small and Friendly". The owners, Chris and Angela make you welcome from the moment you arrive until you regretfully have to leave. Together with Michael the barman they work extremenly hard to ensure all guests have as enjoyable a stay as possible. We cannot fault the cleanliness of the place of the efficiency with which it is run. The hotel is located on raised land about 100m behind the Skala/Poros road with views across the Ionian sea to the mainland. It is about a 15 minutes walk to the centre of Skala although there are hotels and tavernas within shorter walking distance, most of which serve good food at reasonable prices. If you don't feel like walking the Aeolos itself also serves a range of "snacks" through the day and into the evening. Some of the snacks are really full sized meals and are cooked as well as anything we had in the several other tavernas we visited in Skala.

Chris and Angela have built up a formidable reputation and obviously get a lot of repeat business but everyone is welcomed and Michael has a gift for entertaining people around the bar. We are seriously thinking about going again next year if other commitments permit.

Room Tip: We were actullay self catering although our catering only extended to making rough sandwiches and a...

Myself and my boyfriend have just returned from wonderful week in Kefalonia. The island itself is beautiful and we hope to return. When we do we will definitely be staying at aeolos beach hotel.

The whole hotel (rooms, pool, bar, reception and grounds) is immaculate and very well presented. The rooms are relatively basic which we expected, but were to a much higher standard than anywhere else I have stayed in greece. Things I thought were particularly good were that the bathroom has a proper cubical rather than just a curtain to pull around and the shower was also very powerful. In addition the balcony door and bathroom window have an additional mesh screen to prevent mosquitos getting in.

I think we stayed just before the school holidays so maybe will get a little busier, but there was always plenty of room on the loungers around the pool where we spent most days.

We ate breakfast and lunch at the hotel every day and was all to a good standard. Our favourites were the pork chop, chicken souvlaki and club sandwich. The bar serves a wealth of drinks. Michael makes some yummy ice cream and fresh fruit cocktails.

Chris, Angela and family put on a great bbq night which was good value for money and a fun evening. We also enjoyed quiz night...even if we didn't win!

I had seen older reviews mentioning that there is no wifi here, so just to mention if that is important for anyone thinking of visiting, there IS a free wifi connection.

Chris, Angela and family, Michael and the rest of the staff at aeolos are so welcoming and friendly and could not do more for their guests. I don't have a bad word to say about aeolos. We were sad to leave and hope to return again in the future.

We have now visited 5 times and are due to go back again this year!
Beautifully clean rooms, reception area, bar and pool area.
Very friendly staff who can not do enough to help you, nothing is too much for them.
Chris, Angela and Michael know every visitor by name and make you feel very welcome. They all work hard to make your stay the best possible.
The hotel is small and friendly with enough sun loungers for all, we have never had an issue getting one.
The rooms are exactly what you need for a comfortable stay. We always pay extra for the air conditioning as we take the children, but know of others who are perfectly happy without it. There is a safe in the room, a mini fridge and tea/coffee facilities.
Angela has a small shop with souvenirs, postcards and a very handy book exchange so you don't need to worry about weighing down your luggage with extra books.
The bar meals are great for a snack during the day or a light evening meal. We like to visit the bakery nearby a few times for their amazing pastries and lovely ice cream.
There is also a small supermarket at the bottom of the drive for any essentials.
Placed at the far end of Skala, but close enough to walk to the many restaurants and bars located there.
The weekly barbecue is good entertainment and maybe one year we will actually win the quiz. Happy Hour at the Aeolos is a must, I work my way through the cocktail menu every year!
It is easy to see why so many of the visitors are there year after year, and we have joined that number.
We have recommended the Aeolos to friends and they have not been disappointed.

First time at the Aeolos Beach Hotel staying with family. What an amazing place!!! Could not have asked for anything better. Nothing is to much bother, its quiet, beautiful, clean and you get to really see the Greek culture. Chris and Angela made our stay perfect, they work very hard and always have a smile on their face.
I cannot recommend this place any higher! We will be back to stay here again that's for sure.

Having stayed at the Aeolos Beach two years ago we knew what to expect and sure enough, we weren`t disappointed. Chris and Angela certainly know and understand their business and ensure that everybody gets the maximum out of their holiday.
The hotel is spotlessly clean, the food excellent and Michael is the champion cocktail mixer bar none.
I can`t remember having a holiday when I have made friends with as many people as this - the atmosphere is really relaxed and laid back. It was so nice to return to the bar after an evening in the town and have a quiet chat with other guests. The barbeque evenings certainly encouraged interaction and were thoroughly entertaining with most folk joining in.
Thanks Chris, Angela and team - we`ll be back!
