We recently had a very pleasant stay at the Anassa. The hotel is on the front at Skala, and it's an easy 5 or 10 minute stroll in to the main street. The hotel itself is small and family run. The staff and service were excellent, from the welcoming drink to the goodbye hugs!

We stayed in a maisonette room. This was nicely furnished with an additional sofa bed. There was also a sink, kettle and fridge. The bathroom was of adequate size with a shower and two sinks, as well as a hairdryer. The air conditioning was included (though not the cost of the safe (at €12 a week I think) - it seems a bit stingy not to provide this free of charge). The towels were changed three times during our one week stay. Beach towels are not provided.

The hotel has a small indoor bar area leading to a larger seating area and a pool (which was rather chilly in September!). Although the weather wasn't always too great during our stay, I didn't get the impression that the pool area would ever get too crowded. A simple but sufficient continetal breakfast is provided, but you can also order off the menu at additional cost. There is a library with a good range of books left by previous visitors.

There are a couple of nice restaurants and bars which are very close. In particular, we had our best meals of the holiday at Avra at the 9 Muses hotel next door. The cocktails at happy hour were also excellent. Boat trips, with Captain Vangelis, leave from outside the hotel. We took a trip to Ithica which I would recommend.

All-in-all a very pleasant stay and definitely recommended. There seem to be a large number of repeat visitors, which is testament to the hotel's popularity. Skala isn't a place for the party crowd, but is perfect for a relaxing, chilled, break in the sun.

This is our 10th year coming to Skala and our second time this year as we came in June, as well but stayed at the 9 Muses, which we will never do again as we are not yet ready to die. We decided to try Anassa this time around because it was where we ended up going for our nights out because 9 Muses was for the elderly and the sleepy.
Hercules and his staff were simply amazing and we cannot say enough about the atmophere, the drinks or the food served at the bar or at the pool, which is also lovely. `
The rooms are very clean and cozy and the entire hotel has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The one thing that did annoy us was that we chose Anassa because of the entertainment we saw there in June an amazing American fellow who had the place jumping so much that we have not stopped talking about it. However, this time around he was cancelled because the people at 9 Muses threatened the owners? What is that about? Why are George and Effi and Hercules allowing themselves to be bullied?
Skala needs some life. It's a beautiful place but it can be very boring. Anassa used to have something different but while we loved our stay we were sorely disappointed that Anassa is now a place for Pensioners as well. Get the entertainment back and stop letting yourselves be pushed around!
