“Best stay in Greece ever...”
Reviewed 17 August 2013

My husband and I stayed at the Makis Studios for two week in August and found it great value. The rooms were clean and had aircondition, free wi-fi, a hair dryer, kettle, fridge and cooking facilities.Plenty of space to store clothes. Nice bathroom with a window and always enough hot water. All the windows had a net when open so insects isn't any problem. Rooms were cleaned daily and we had a balcony which overlooked the pool. It felt private to sit on the balcony to enjoy mornings or evenings. Makis Studios are kept spotless clean inside and outside. The staff are friendly and work hard too keep everything in top shape. You can also park your car for free at the Studios. The apartments are close enough to be in the Main Street in 3 minuts but they are very quiet and peaceful. From the studios the beach is a 7 minuts walk mostly downhill. The beach are going fore kilometres and tavernas, showers and toilets are in reach. Set of 2 sunbeds and embrella costs 5-6 Euro per day. After walking back from the beach you can enjoy a nice cool swim in the Studios pool. The pool was clean and there were enough sunbeds for everyone. The snack bar is reasonably priced and serves great toasties. You can also buy nice breakfast if you want for 5 Euro each. All in all great value! We will come back :)

My husband and I stayed at the Makis Studios for a week in August and found it great value. The rooms were clean and had a hair dryer, kettle, fridge and cooking facilities. The shower facilities were typically Greek, as we expected, you need to hold the shower head, this isn't a five star hotel but it doesn't claim to be! Rooms were cleaned daily and we had a balcony which overlooked the pool. The apartments are close enough to be in the Main Street in 5 mins but they are very quiet and peaceful. The pool was clean and their were enough sunbeds for everyone. The snack bar is reasonably priced and serves great toasties. Be aware you need to pay extra if you want air conditioning. All in all great value.

We went to the Makis Studios in May/June this year as a family group of six adults. This is a lovely little studio block at the end and to the left of the busy little high street in Skala. There are two or three little supermarkets near to the studios, and then a few more down the hill in Skala high street. It takes about 10/15 minutes to walk from the lovely beach at Skala to the studios (if you don't stop to browse the shops or be tempted to eat/drink in any of the nice tavernas along the way!). The walk is a bit uphill but my Mum, who was with us, is 84 and she managed a slow stroll up the hill. The studios themselves are basic but kept very clean, as are the pool and surrounding gardens. Most of the balconies are very private, although on the small side but there are other areas to sit too. In the mornings when the sun was on the front of the property we sat and had our breakfast overlooking the nice garden. There are a few stairs up and down to the pool area and younger children would need to be well supervised, but this is the same in a lot of accommodation abroad. Although Skala is a busy little resort the studios are well away from the high street and we didn't get any noise at night. There's only a small parking area in front of the studios but an overflow parking area behind the studios. All in all a very good, clean reasonably priced accommodation.

Room Tip: The balconies on the lower floor rooms are a bit on show from people walking to the pool but when we...

Wonderful Studios-nice rooms-with kettle and fridge-hairdryer. Cooking facilities available. Very clean-plenty of sunbeds and a lovely pool. Bar prices at pool are good. 5 Minute walk to the main shopping/restaurants and beach. Rooms cleaned daily. Excellent.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are not as private.

We thought we would write this review whilst sitting by the side of the pool on our last day here at the Makis Studios. Our experience at the Makis Studios has been very relaxed and so chilled out and to a very high standard.
The accommodation is clean, tidy, well maintained and above average for Greek Studio Apartments. The studios are ideally situated to the bars/restaurants in town, approx five min stroll to all the facilities.
We wanted quiet and rest and we got exactly that, the studios are ideal for people who want less hustle & bustle on their holiday. So having no T.V. or phone suited us down to the ground. Whilst air-con is €65 for two weeks we did not use it and found the studios breezy and cool. Bedding was immaculate and the beds were hard to get out of due to them being very comfortable. The pool area is very clean and also the pool itself very clean and so refreshing when baking all day on the sun loungers. The studios are surrounded by bushes and so inevitably you do get the odd bug or two in the pool, but again we found this not a problem they are removed quickly by the filters which are on constantly. The food is good and the Mythos is served very cold, what more could you want! All in all our time at the Makis with the family that own it has been a pleasure and if we did come back to Kefolonia in the future, we will be booking in here again.

Very surprised by this review - we stayed at The Makis Studios 2 weeks ago and had studied what was available before we paid - hence the lack of TV and phone wasn't a surprise - but all rooms had 'fenced off' verandas, we found beds were very comfortable, air con quiet enough to be left on all night, blankets were in the wardrobes and inroom literature clearly said if you want more ask!. Yes showers did have to be 'hand held' but probably a good thing in a hot location where water is precious.

We found the pool spotless, the gravel road was actually a car park (so no passing traffic!) and as for the most expensive drinks in Skala (with a 'K') we must have been unlucky as every bar we went into were charging far more for drinks than the Makis

I guess we all have our views but lets at least try to be accurate

Rita & Makis own the Makis Studios (Not to be confused with the Makis Hotel)
This is a small studio complex off the main high street on a back road, Because it is surrounded ny studios, the bar and trees this is a very quite laid back place with the lovely pool in its own unique suntrap.
Great welcome, shown to our bigger than usual greek room. There is a charge for air con & a safe Key. Fridge is included. All rooms face onto the small but very clean pool. The bar is open early til 7pm. You can have your breakfast & snacks next to the bar.
A great place to unwind & relax but just a 5 min walk to the main street with many bars & restaurants to choose from.
In a nutshell, idyllic, clean, friendly and in the sunshine.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.
