“What a Great Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2014

Wanting to have an "easy" holiday with someone else doing the arranging, we booked for myself, my wife and 2 boys through Thomson, being recommended the Melidron by their shop in Bath. Never has a recommendation been so accurate and well deserved.

On arrival we were greeted by Zefie who runs the place and shown up to our rooms. We had a family apartment at the back of the hotel overlooking the garden with 2 balconies. The rooms were quiet and provided us with our own sanctuary. There was minimal noise from any other rooms and we were well away from the main road which is about 50 meters from the pool area at the front of the plot the hotel is based on. The road in fact has minimal noise anyway. Air conditioning is the best I have come across pretty well in any hotel I have ever stayed in. It was both quiet and efficient meaning we had a good night's sleep.

Reflecting the comments from other reviews, I have never come across any group of people who work so hard and who are so committed to ensuring their guests have everything they want and need. The rooms were absolutely spotless and cleaned/tidied every day with some lovely pyjama and towel sculptures left each day (have a look at the pictures!). It was just a lovely touch. They concentrated also on getting to know you and your family, again a nice touch as it felt more that you were staying with friends rather than as a hotel guest. The same attitude comes from every member of staff who are friendly and welcoming.

The breakfast was limited but plentiful and well cooked. Importantly the coffee was good! We also ate at the hotel on quite a few lunchtimes whilst being around the pool, concentrating on the Greek specials of the day which were simply excellent! Theo behind the bar was great. If he recommends something with one of the dishes, believe him. Grilled sardines with a salad and iced Ouzo is one of the great meals!

The pool area is smart and although the pool not the biggest (having said that it's not small either) but it's well kept and has plenty of sun beds and tables. There is shade if you want it as well. It is a "family" hotel but there were plenty of couples staying as well and the pool was never noisy when we were there.

There is free wifi in the pool, bar and reception areas as well as on the beach near to the hotel as well! That kept the kids happy!

In and around the hotel, the beach is just 50 meters away a mixture of coarse sand and very small stones. It has plenty of sun beds from a variety of tavernas and hotels on the main road. We had no problem getting more than one no matter what time we went down. Also just 50 meters away is the nearest Taverna and there is a huge variety of eating out options down the road to the village as well as in the village centre.

The Melidron is number one in Skala and this is well deserved. In some ways I don't want others to know about it as it felt like "our" special place. Having looked at other reviews, that is a common theme. Fully and highly recommended and a credit to Zefie and the rest of the guys.

Room Tip: If you need a quiet room try one at the back of the hotel. The view is not really compromised in tha...

Great hotel, the owners could not have tried harder to look after us and obviously work really hard to keep the place looking clean and freshly painted. It is in a great, quiet, location just a few metres the beach and a short walk from central Skala, it has a lovely smallish pool and large bedrooms. Breakfast is pretty basic but we had some lovely lunches. We would definitely return here.

This was the best holiday in Greece we have ever had. The hotel is beautiful, really well kept and looked after and really clean. We were in the separate annex which was really quiet and gave onto the pool. All the staff are really friendly, the food is fab and Zefi and Theo are lovely, and there is a really nice atmosphere. The beach is literally across the road and the centre of Skala is about 10 minutes walk away - there are loads of restaurants and shops there - we ate in a different restaurant every night and all the meals we had were really nice. We will definitely be going back to the Melidron and were sad to leave, it is the nicest place we have stayed in Greece. Just wish we had booked for 2 weeks now!

Just spent 2 weeks at this little gem of a hotel. Zephie,Theo and all other staff just can't do enough to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The rooms, pool and gardens are very well looked after and their buffet breakfast is the best I have had in any Greek hotel. From the time we arrived and greeted by Zephie personally we felt as if we were being treated as family and as we were there celebrating a 'special' birthday she went out of her way to make it so memorable by decorating the room with garlands, balloons and flowers. The hotel is quite small (around 24 rooms) so you get to meet others around the pool and bar area and where tasty meals can be ordered throughout the day. This was our fifth visit to Skala having stayed elsewhere previously (9 Muses) but we certainly wouldn't hesitate in booking The Melidron again, in fact it's a certainty.

Room Tip: We had B4 overflooking the pool and bar area.

We had a fantastic week's stay. Perfect place to relax. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Theo does a good job on the cocktails and Roula's cooking is not to be missed! The Sunday night BBQ was excellent. We will definitively be going back.

The staff are so welcoming and friendly. We were really impressed by how clean everything was and well cared for. They take a lot of pride in their lovely little hotel. The room was nice and spacious, the air con kept it nice and cool and we found it very comfortable. All the guests seemed nice and considerate, it was a very civilised place to stay! The location was perfect, right near the lovely beach and the town of Skala was just up the road. Skala was the perfect amount of busy-ness for us!! Some wonderful restaurants and bars to choose from - we went somewhere different for dinner every night and still had so many places we didn't get to try! We found the food surpassed our expectations - we had such great meals. Every menu had so much choice and we were very impressed by the food. We would thoroughly recommend the Melidron Hotel and Skala resort to anyone.

I can't believe after nearly 15 visits to Skala how I've missed the magnificent Melidron!!
I've always stayed close by at the 9 muses but its grown too big and busy, the Melidron is smaller and far more intimate but by far superior.
An absolute delight, lovely staff and spotlessly clean...Ive already booked for next June. Well done zephie and staff x
