“HAD A GREAT TIME CLEAN AND TIDY”
Reviewed 2 November 2011

staff were very friendly, we booked a 3 star but on arrival noticed this was only a 2 star, walked around other hotels and a 4* we saw was diabolical. we had clean towels everyday and bed changed once on request.plenty of loo roll. mossies were everywhere but thats the hotels fault maybe other guests were just not prepared.entertainment was minimal but ELVIS was funny and the free booze helped , he mimed . very clean and tidy we were in room 133 and we got the evening sun till the sun went down , had no problems at all. the shower was very high and our balcony chair had a nail sticking out of it but was sorted out promptly. Also for £149 all inclusive was a great girly weeks holiday the biggest bonus was the beach ( sandy) was 3 minute walk away. for all those reviews moaning i suggest you spend more money for a hotel you are accustomed too. it was cheap AI what did they expect! clean, tidy and friendly . would definatley go back with the girls, got a wicked tan in a week . worth every penny.

Room Tip: room 133 gets the evening sun

We booked 3 self catering apartments for 6 people - and got great value for money - you get what you pay for!! Basic but large clean rooms with private balcony, seperate good sized bedroom, and bathroom with plenty of towels, soap and loo roll!! (not expected for the price paid!) In our apartment we had a few oddities.. a shower hose that didnt reach to the holder, but you can get round that, a couple of lights that didnt work, and no kettle. The apartment was serviced 3 times in the 5 days we were there. GREAT location, very close to the beach and local bars and restaurants. 2 pools that were occupied most of the day with loud kids, Germans (who really did get out early with their towels on the loungers) and Brits who choose to stay put and drink all day.. (probably on all inclusive) when the beautiful beaches were a stones throw away. A fine base in a really nice Spanish location - I would definatley go back for a short break or long weekend!!

Room Tip: We booked apartment with pool view, which was probably better than the others in the group whos apar...

i have recently returned from staying in the Playamar, when reading reviews after booking i got a little worried to say the least, thought i was going to some hell hole that i may not return from. so i just want to set the record straight...i arrived in the morning about 11am, check out is at 12 so i know a few people had a problem with there room not being ready but they were taken to the bar to get a drink and all staff where very apologetic and accommodating. i however requested and early check in on booking so was given the key and told where my room was..i was in the main building so there was a lift and it wasnt too much of a walk. the room was small but clean and to be honest just what i expect from overseas..outdated but functional. i did get a few mosquito bites but if u put repellent on properly then you wont! the food was average continental stuff really nothing to write home about but always something edible always fresh bread which i found helpful. only really complaint about the food is its never hot and is repetitive but there are many places a few minutes away that you can eat if you wish. theres a big enough variety of drinks available from 10-10 house spirits and local beer etc after 10 you have to pay for drinks or go elsewhere, there are a few bars etc very close and not too expensive. the pool was cold but clean and everyone in it seemed to have a good enough time. yes there is the odd tile broken and the odd chair a bit worse for wear but nothing dangerous and they are all marked off etc. the staff did speak basic English and thats all i personally expect (i could order a drink and get what i asked for) the entertainment was hilarious, probably for the wrong reasons but everyone seemed to have a laugh with karaoke and bingo etc and for the money you pay you really cant expect to be entertained! theres a beautiful beach on your door step and sillot is a lovely place. i didnt have any problems with my room etc but i know that anyone that did just had to tell reception and they would sort it out or get moved , so you cant fault them really!! to some up i think if you are looking for something to complain about you will find it .. if you want a nice low cost holiday in a clean room in a beautiful location book here! your holiday is what you make it!

I had read the reviews on here before going so I knew what to expect. We arrived just before midnight, the bar was still open, but all inclusive is between 10am and 10pm so we had to pay for drink or have water. The room, 212, was ok, clean but small. The beds were comfortable and clean. The toilet door lock was on the outside, weird! It was right by the lift and stairs and right above the main entrance, so it was noisy, and some people have no consideration for others sleeping, running down the corridors and shouting. The room was cleaned every day. The food was basic and unimaginative but plentiful. It was more or less the same every day just a variation on a theme. What was left at dinner was there again next day for lunch! It was ok if you're not fussy, if you are there was plenty of chips! No there was no toaster at breakfast but I could live without that for 5 days, there was cooked breakfast, cereal and bread, meats and cheese. Yes drinks served in plastic cups, not environmentally friendly, but saves them washing glasses. No fancy food, no nice puddings, but lots of fruit and salad. And yes there were mozzies, we got a ton of bites and had to buy cream, we got bitten every day and had to kill them before we could sleep. For me this was what was worse than anything else. On the plus side the hotel is right by the beach and that was clean, the weather was lovely and we sat around and read alot. I wouldn't have liked to be there for a fortnight 5 days was enough, the area wasn't that great. Overall it was a clean hotel, the staff weren't chatty at all but I wouldn't say miserable.I wouldn't go there again, but if you do take mozzie cream, citronella candles and long sleeves and trousers. I guess it was a cheap holiday and so you get what you pay for.

got back last night from our stay at playamar and I think hit and miss would about sum it up. Looking at the latest reviews on this site, I have to agree with certain aspects of the comments made but i have to strongly disagree with others. For example, we found the staff there willing to help and the DID speak english (it would help if you could speak some basic spanish but you could understand them and they could understand you most of the time). On the whole our room was relatively clean (we were in building 2 rather than the main apartments) but the shower was a few drops of water and luke warm. We had an issue on the 2nd when our key didn't work but that was down to the fact that the hotel had given us a bent key, but once we notified the immediately changed the key, no problem. But one long standing issue was the rock hard beds and the one crumpled up pillow but we just made do. The food was very inconsistant in temperature and flavour. In the same meal, they had made a homemade cottage pie which was piping hot but the other food brought out at the same time was near enough stone cold which was disappointing- luckily, there is an excellent Irish bar down the road (Kenna's) and the food there is a hell of a lot better and at a reasonable price (including a 2 for 10 euro deal which was more than value for money). The location is very good with 2 nearby beaches but the main road could do with a better range of shops as it is all the same tat in most of them. Despite going at the tailend of october, the weather was still pretty good with one day the temperature topped 30 degrees. The Brittish guests we spoke to were more than friendily but some that we chose not to get into too much contact with made frank gallagher look like a tee total duke (but they did tend to keep themselves for themselves- enjoy them they last, at the rate they were going, they won't be round much longer) But for 4 people all inclusive, we paid no more than a grand and we felt that the value was there. (plus i came back more satisfied than my previous 2 holidays, madrid and bulgaria, as they were much more expensive and had worse conditions). If you were to come here, I would recommend self catering as our apartment had large facilities to cater that plus a selection of bars and restuarants- a lot of germans though!

Please listen to all the bad reviews. they are true. Arrived late and put in the most awful room you can imagine. ROOM 215, bath unusable, shower head broken. furniture broken, above the reception, heard all the noise off buses coming and going, and then all the drunk people coming in late, with no respect for anyone else. Move to new room next day, probably one of the better ones, above pool, ROOM 139. You need to remember to take all the mosquito things that you can buy. But also not sure if it was just them or were fleas involved to. Food is so cold that it really puts you off going for it. Daughter never ate anything, as the chips were always the coldest, even at the begining of the of the service. Reception staff were all really good and helpful, so were most of the bar staff, all except the woman on the pool bar, who was the most grumpiest person I have ever met. It is a shame about the hotel, as the area is really nice. Had a good time with friends, if it hadn't been for them, my daughter and I would have wanted to come home, they were better than any entertainment, by the way this is bad. Thanks Chrissy and Colin for making it better for us, from Annette and Amy the scottish ones.. xxx

Room Tip: Please don't accept room 215, it is not fit for an animal

We are here now !!, Please don't come. Full of Mozzies ,lots of bites. Spending £ on anti moz things. The food is sustainable, prison food must be better!, it's warm not hot! No microwave to warm food up in, no toaster for breakfast. Staff are miserable apart from reception staff. All drinks are served in plastic cups even hot drinks! Read reviews before we came , but didn't think anywhere could be this bad , IT IS !!! outside area dirty.
Only thing great about this hotel is you can get out and about, the location is spot on, bus stops just around corner, O and it has free wi-fi, only works in reception, hence this pre warning. Beach is nice. PLEASE DON'T COME HERE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Everybody thinks the same, so we're not just being "Stick in the MUDs".
READ ALL REVIEWS THE BAD ONES ARE SPOT ON !! I PROMISE.

Room Tip: Don't come there isn't any
