We have just returned after 7 nights A/I and, after reading the reviews on this site, I was dreading it. However, it was not as bad as people were making out. We had 2 rooms and asked for them to be located together which they were. One faced the river, which my daughter had, and the other faced the pool which me and my other half had. I have given an overall rating of 'Average' because the rooms were very basic, one didn't even have a tv and the other room didn't have a remote so tv was unusable. Although the rooms were serviced every day, clean towels were only given if you put soiled ones in the bath. Our bed linen wasn't changed the entire week we were there which I found rather bad.
Yes, the food was very basic and repetative...but none of us went hungry. Turning the drinks machines off during the evening meal was a bit tight!...so was not turning on the air-con to save a bit of money. Overall, this hotel is only a 2* and I think some people need to lower their expectations...you pay for 2*...you get 2*.
We found the staff to be very friendly and the hotel was value for money. The only thing to spoil it for us was the inconsiderate behaviour of other guests who think it is their duty to make as much noise as possible in the early hours, like the ones who played music full blast at 2am and then banged as many doors as possible when they checked out in the early hours of the morning...T*SS*RS!!!!

Was very worried after reading reviews on here and thought it couldn't be as bad as they say but if you understand what 2 star rating is and you don't expect much for the cheap prices you are paying, then you will except this place for what it is.
Yes there is only one 2 slice toaster for the whole restaurant, (unbelieveable) and the amount of people who don't know how to use one is mad, people instead of pressing to stop button for the toast to pop up where risking shocks by putting fingers and forks in to get the toast out?? (Crazy).
There is no air con so do what I did and take 2 desk fans with universal plugs.
There is a canal at the back of the hotel and some people had some very bad bites from mosquitoes to the point it looked like a leper colony so bring lots of deet based mosquito wipes and body sprays to protect yourselves.
The food is boring and of poor quality although you would not starve, we ate out alot ,because the menu was the same for lunch and tea with the last tray of food being the only difference, the food ran like this everyday salad, pasta, chips, rice and the last tray might be fish or pork or chicken the others remained the same.
There is no Diet drinks and we had a diabetic with us and couldn't find anything to drink at fully inclusive.
The hotel room was for 3 adults it was large and basic with 3 beds in.
The maid service in the hotel part of the complex was everyday with fresh towels if you place the wet ones in the bath and the maids were very polite and smiling.
The main desk staff that we spoke to also were very polite and helpful.
We never experienced rudeness from anyone but we spoke to these people nicely so for those who say they were very rude should maybe look at the way they speak to others, I believe you reep what you sow if you talk nastily to people.
The complex itself needs a makeover but you don't have to stay around this one because they have a sister hotel called Playa Blanca across the road and there pool is better its quiter and not as busy, you can eat and drink here and they have diet pop too so we just slept at the playamar but went for drinks and some meals and a swim at Playa Blanca although their food is pretty much the same.
S'illot has a very small beach that is close to the canal just a strip of sand separates them.
Sa Coma is a short walk away and has a large white sandy beach and light blue waters infact looks like the caribbean, lovely.
To sum up playamar is cheap cheerful and worth the money £500 each 2 weeks all inclusive even though the food lets it down badly.

One word sums it up 'BASIC', needed a fan for the room, our room was at the front,we could hear the buses stopping to collect & drop off the holiday makers @ all hours of the night. Food OK, sometimes ate out. No entertainment to speak of. No snacks between breakfast, lunch & dinner. AI stopped & 10pm for drinks after that you had to pay, then you got a proper glass! Had to go to pool bar. Hotel bar only opened an hour for lunch and an hour for dinner or if weather bad.Beside river so lots of mosquito bites, still itching. Clean sheets & towels daily though.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner suite, couple we met got one and said it was far better

We booked a weeks holiday 5th to the 12th of September 2012 and stayed in room139 on an all inclusive basis. The room was basic and yes there was a small amouint of mold just above the bath but nothing to drastic and the room was serviced every day but that was spasmodic listening to other guest. The food was edible BUT BORING and some of the other guest comments started withe the letter S.....T I did eat in the Irish bar down the road alot The pool was just below our room and at night we could get young children playing in the pool until 10.30 pm because their parents were having a drink in the only bar which was around the bottom pool area All inclusive guest were treated to drinking tea, coffee and red wine from plastic glasses and if you had a pool side room you had to listen to all the noise and any discos at night that went on but these were few and far between in the week we stayed there. I woiuld never book a holiday in this hotel again the staff were helpful at times but they did help german clients more readily.

Room Tip: don't have a pool side room

Me and my friend stayed from the 7th sept to 17th sept and had no complaints! On arrival we got shown 3 rooms to choose from, all pretty much the same studios with one main room with beds in the middle, with these not having a fridge in we simply asked for one with one in and no questions asked got shown a 4th room! A one bedroom apt. We took this straight away. And it had air con and a pool view. It was clean and maid service ever other day. Reception staff were lovely and helpful. Good location for s'illot beach and shops and only a 2 min walk to sa coma which is where we went every night to Britannia Bar and Kings Head. Would deffinatly go back and stay at playamar.
