“Excellent holiday at Playa Mar hotel”
Reviewed 7 July 2014 via mobile

Read some reviews just before going away and was worried sick what we were going to.

Arrived 6 hours late due to the French air traffic control strike, and arrived at Playamar at 5am! The man on reception checked us in and offered us tea/coffee/juice but we just wanted to go to bed.

Our room was in the main hotel, and was amazed at the room size, huge with 2 sets of beds, 2 balconys and it was also spotlessly clean.

The rest of the holiday...this was our first all inclusive holiday, and I wasn't disappointed. Food was great, varied too, having read reviews about lack of choice I was so shocked at the many choices but was never hungry!

The bar was great, friendly staff, pool cleaned each morning, sun loungers plentiful (yes a little dated) a fantastic atmosphere with a mix of couples, families, old and young.

Entertainment was on a few nights a week, not the best entertainment in the world but entertainment none the less, but we hadn't booked the holiday for entertainment.

Local amenities were fab, we visited the local safari zoo, had a great time, sa coma a short walk away and lots of gift shops, and the beach so close and gorgeous.

In summary, this is a 2 star hotel, in areas it is dated, light shades in the bedroom, sun loungers, but this is being so picky, we had a brilliant holiday and would recommend Playamar, not only that, we'd go again!

We were worried about tge negative reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. The only bad thing being on the top floor the water pressure was none existant. We became adept at showering with very little water. The location was fabulous and the lady behind reception was extremely helpful. Would definitely go again loved the resort.

We came on our honeymoon to this hotel and when we got here found we had to wait an hour and a half for our room (we had booked for early check in) we also booked a sea view apartment (we got a building in front if us) we had to plunge the bath every time we used it. Air conditioning did not work and the food was awful (we paid for all inclusive) the only good things were the pool and the cleanliness I would never stay again ruined our honeymoon

Its a basic hotel and it really depends on personal preference if its enough or not. During our stay I would say 50% were enjoying their stay and 50% were not so happy. It was clean and tidy. The showers and toilet flush could be improved but this is a 2 star hotel. We were all inclusive and had three good meals a day with plenty to drink and no stomach upsets. I think a better hot counter for the food might be a good move but food I'd give 3 out of 5. The pools are really clean and tended to daily. Staff lovely and helpful. The beeches are wonderful and swimming in the sea was just delightful. There was a variety of ages and a mix of families and couples. We had a few nice walks and all in all a good holiday. Its worth giving it ago if your looking for a good low cost holiday. But don't choose a 2 star hotel if you are fussy or want 4 star. Bars - The little welsh bar and the one opposite beginning with 'T'. For food - Faulty Towers, food fresh and can't be faulted! The poor man running it gets a little stressed even when its not that busy so I hope it has extra hands during peak season.

Room Tip: Stay in main building if possible and you are less likely to be bitten. I just had two small bites t...

Booked this holiday last September for ten days,we arrived and booked in immediately, then left standing for 15 minutes while the elderly receptionist decided to talk to anyone passing, when she realised we where getting fed up she came from behind the counter and waved for us to follow,we weren't going to be in the hotel but some apartments they have taken over two streets away, she took us up to room B,opened the door and said "OH",the room looked as if it had been trashed, curtains on the floor, beds pulled out with dirty bedding stacked on them, table overturned, bin bags and carrier bags scattered around the room and plaster on the floor,I asked for another room but was told they where fully booked, but to put our cases in the room and it would be ready in an hour, she sent us back to the hotel and told us to get something to eat and drink, nothing looked recognisable so we just had a beaker of very weak juice and went for a walk,an hour later we went to the room to get something from our bags and found the room untouched,a cleaner came from the next apartment and told us ours wasn't being done,I went back round to the hotel and told the receptionist who phoned someone and calmly told me the room was nearly ready,I told her it wasn't,I insisted she come around and see,all the way there she insisted it was nearly done,we got to the room, when she saw it she started screaming for the cleaner, she then told us to wait downstairs and it would be done in 30 minutes, she then just walked away,no apology or anything,we sat downstairs, four cleaners went up,new mattresses went up,allsorts went up,40 minutes later the room was ready. To be fair if we had walked in to this we would have been more than pleased,it was a very large room, lovely and light with an extra bedroom,(we had booked a studio)so all seemed fine,we later noticed no shower curtain just the pole in the corner,I reported it but no one ever came.Sleepwise the first few day weren't so bad, woken about five in the morning by screaming and shouting from the music bar almost opposite which is open until four every morning as is the burger bar next to it,as the holiday wore on the noise got worse, unless i'd had a few drinks myself I couldn't get to sleep, but I'd I was woken every night. The resort itself is a lovely place and I'd go there again but never to the Playamar

Room Tip: If you booked this place make sure it is in main hotel though I don't know if thats any better

Just back from a week all inclusive and cant complain.
Im a vegetarian so the choice was limited for me - but im used to that. What was served was hot and edible.
Pool area clean - though the sunbeds are old and uncomfortable.
Close to beach (3 mins max) and Sa Coma is just 7 mins walk.
Hotel is dated but clean.
Would definitely go back.

It was clean enough (few hairs on bedding when we arrived) in all visible places and room changed daily and fresh towels if necessary. Very thin walls however, but close to good restaurants (BiBaBo) pools were ok except it should be seperated in to kids and adults pool as the deeper rectangular one was often filled with inflatables and children splashing about and the bigger, shallower pool (more kiddy friendly) had more room but not right for swimming.
Definitely not a place to go if you want a good night out dancing etc. VERY family/older orientated but we had a nice enough time.
Got mucked about going to the water park - is 2hrs away so stay closer if this is something you want to do.
Overall very satisfactory you get what you pay for at the end of the day, we had a room with twin beds but this was fine as it was too hot to share a bathroom and a big balcony, it did the job so why spend triple the amount for somewhere else that does exactly the same thing with a slightly bigger room that you're not even in most of the time? save your money to spend on doing things like hiring bikes and cycling to porto cristo - very easy for any ability and only takes around 30 minutes or going on a pony trek - for more confident riders though!!

The location is great for shops and beach!! but not for attractions etc.
