“Wouldn't recomend for a family holiday”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

We stayed at The Blue Sea Callao Garden 2 adults, 2 children, We knew when we booked the hotel that it was not in a tourist area so we wern't expecting much as far as a holiday experience goes, We were there to research the local area with a view to moving over there so it suited our purpose, It is a large complex and the apartments are very spacious but very tired and have problems with ants, It was quiet during our stay so not a lot was open just one bar & restaurant but all 4 of the pools were open with most of the guests gathering around the pool that was right by the open bar and restaurant, We stayed all inclusive as it wasnt much different in price to self catering but the food is not good, It is brought out of the kitchen cold and there was hardly any choice and nothing at all for children, None of the food is protected from flies and the staff can be very rude with the exception of two really nice ladies in the restaurant, A young lady with long dark hair and glasses & a slightly older lady who were both lovely, I wish I knew their names to give them a mention, There was also a lovely male receptionist who was very polite upon check in, For us it was ok but I would not recomend this complex to anyone going away for a family holiday as it is not a tourist area and not a lot going on, It is mainly residential, There is a bus that will take you to the main areas such as Las Americas, Los Christianos and Adeje where there is lots to do but do you really want the hassle of getting a bus there and back everyday? There is a small beach in Callao but its very quiet, It may be a completely different experience for someone visiting the complex in the school holidays when its a lot busier as I imagine there would be more of an atmosphere but I wouldnt recomend going all inclusive unless you get a really good deal where you can benefit from the all inc drinks because you may find yourself needing to go out to eat and therefore spending all your holiday money on food.

We arrived in the evening: the room was on a ground floor and had a very strong smell of damp. The television was there, but unfortunately you had to pay 1 Euro for an hour to turn it on, if not money was not inserted into the coin machine the television would show ‘No Signal’. In the evening as we sat down for dinner we were told that ice cream finished so my 3 years old ended up in tears. Next morning we got ready to spend some time by the pools, but there were no sun beds available as hotel due to the fact that it was packed so we had no choice but to put our towels on the ground to enjoy our day by the pool. The beach bar was closed all that week, so there were no snacks in between meals which lead us to go and purchase our own snacks in order for my children to have something to eat in case they got hungry in between meals. Later that day we were told that the beach bar had a kid’s play area but it was unfortunately closed. The playground by the pool was in a terrible condition. There was nothing for kids to apart cold swimming pool. Ladies toilet at the pool area was closed so women had no choice but to use the men’s toilet until it got flooded became very slippery which was dangerous for both adults and children, but staff ignored this issue and did not do anything about it. Food was poor and same all the time. Some evenings there was not enough food prepared for the guests at the hotel, so people were forced to wait for more food to be cooked and wait longer than expected for their dinner. Few days later we went to get some ice cream from the bar and we were told that there were no plastic spoons and they cannot provide us with metal spoons. The staffs were extremely miserable during our whole stay.
Our room had only been cleaned twice during our stay at the hotel; this meant that we were left with dirty towel, dirty bed sheets (they were not changed once), dirty dishes and no toilet paper. We only had towels changed twice, found somebody’s socks under the sofa, broken socket after ‘cleaning’, which luckily was fixed same evening. We left an orange in the kitchen during the day and when we got back to the apartment it was covered in pharaoh ants. We then immediately took the plate to reception and they explained to us that we should not leave food on the kitchen surface during the day. But they are treatable! It all made our stay highly disgusting.
Area is very pretty, but only for them who wants to stay in a quite and peaceful area as there is nothing to do and quite far from any busy centers
Stayed in a tree star hotels before, but believe me this is not worth it at all

Don't look for more star at the hotels just enjoy for your holliday. Cheap price but good time. Don't spend time on offers go to Tony's tickets office and get advise for the best trips around Tenerife, search on Low cost hollidays and get the amazing fly and hotel offer for your family. When you stay at Blue Sea Callao Garden Hotel ask for beach view and if you are lucky you can have a nice view over the ocean. The rooms are older furniture but very warm and quiet. Just relax and if you look for something nice ask for a trip to Teide, Masca and Puerto de la Cruz. If you have a hired car don't lose the chance to go arround the island, you can see amazing things.

Visited here in April 2014 and honestly cannot fault it!
Great value for money.
Staff were absolutely amazing and really went the extra mile! Bar staff, Entertainment girls and the lifeguard Ernesto made us very welcome, nothing was too much trouble ever!
We went 'all inclusive' and not at any point did we not manage to find something that was appealing or enjoyable to eat.
Apartments are very spacious, clean and have all you need for a family stay.
A choice of four pools, hard working entertainment staff and close proximity to the beach and shops ensured our whole family were happy throughout our stay.
We would not hesitate to return!

It seems many of the poor reviews are for All Inclusive stays. We stayed for one week self catering and found the accommodation to be very good and just what we needed. There is no air conditioning so can imagine in the summer the apartments would get warm at night. We did find we got bitten by insects loads and it was really difficult to find insect repellent in the shops so bring it with you.

Yes it is hilly there are many steps and it is also in a quieter resort but we knew all of these things before we went. We hired a car to get out and about and had no trouble finding parking spaces.

I would recommend this resort if you are looking for a week to chill out and relax in the sun or use as a base to explore the island further.

Just back from a week in this hotel. I don't understand why anyone would recommend this hotel it's the worse hotel I've ever stayed in.Having to pay for international channels 1euros for 1h.!.All inclusive very limited, the vast majority of the food came out of the kitchen cold this included eggs either fried or scrambled bacon there seemed to be a total disregard for peoples health where food was concerned the other meal times were no better this was why so many people were eating out (odd for all inclusive)The food was abysmal. It was cold, extremely poor quality food that was covered in flies. It consisted of deep fried fish sticks, chicken nuggets and chips, chips.chips and chips....No potatoes or vegetables. the volume of food was ridiculously low and it was an inconvenience for the staff to replenish the trays. We had the breakfast the following morning which was burnt, cold and again very poorly protected from the flies. As a result we spent the rest of our stay having to pay for food in restaurants which is unacceptable when you have paid for All Inclusive. Having spoken with four other families of different nationalities we found that they had the same complaints regarding the food and cleanliness and they also had been ill which I doubt is coincidence. This hotel would be best sold as a self catering one as they clearly do not know how to produce all inclusive food.
This is not for someone who is looking for things to see and do nearby because it is very small quiet village and the beach is nothing special. The pool area does need some attention, badly worn. The steps up to your room and up and down to the pool wears you out. Entertainment not too good. The two good things about our stay was the very pleasant staff and the sea view. The best part was leaving.
Very busy pool areas, very noisy and busy with nowhere to sit.
The snack bar is closed.
One staff member only that was at all friendly, very tired looking apartments, tiles missing all over the pool to the extent that people were cutting thier feet whilst swimming. The cleaning staff in the morning from 7am made lots of noise and argued amongst themselves constantly. maps of the apartments are terrible, easy to get lost on site, lots of stairs and a very hilly location.Very quiet and not much going on at night. The hot water was all used up before 6pm at night as well!I would not return to these apartments.
The drinks are being dispensed in ever smaller containers so, you need to frequently be at the bar, which was under manned, by very hardworking staff.
PLEASE DON´T GO. Never written a bad report until now, but this is it.......!!!!!!

After reading reviews arrived a little apprehensive, however on arrival we first thought we'd be dropped at the wrong hotel as first impression was good, once checked in we arrived in our apartment 117. The smell of must greeted us, we didn't want to let this get to us so just opened all windows to try air apartment out. Hotel very busy and pool areas very noisy and busy with nowhere to sit. We found ourselves paying to use the facilities of tropical park hotel next door just to get a sun bed and avoid the business. The food, where do I start!! So previous reviews made reference to food being cold, cold was just one issue, food being edible was our main concern, the food was so bad that all we managed was fruit and ice cream for breakfast, lunch was chips and bread rolls (only bothered with that the once) and dinner, well we went down for dinner 3/4 nights but never managed to eat anything as it was either raw, cheapest straggly bits of meat (if it was meat) cold. Now I'm not fussy eater but seriously the restaurant was to be avoided. In all our cheap deal turned out to be not so cheap due to having to pay to eat outside of hotel for all meals. I wish we had booked just self catering as the difference in cost a) you get choice of eating proper food b) you don't feel cheated. I guess lesson learnt is that 3 star in Europe is probably a 2 star in Uk and don't think your saving money by going all inclusive. My biggest tip is, don't waste your money with this hotel look at tropical park, it's next door, staff lovely, decent entertainment, very child friendly and from what I understand it's cheaper.
