We stayed at this hotel for a week for our skiing trip. The hotel and staff were great. Breakfasts were good and with a very good selection. We ate at the hotel in the evenings and I would say again, there was a good selection, something for everyone. We went as a family of 4 and paid a little more for a one level suite (as opposed to a duplex suite) and it was worth the extra for the space you got.

Room Tip: One word of advice.... try to get a room on a floor not too high up so you can use the stairs if the lifts take a while (which we found they did). Floor -1 is the main exit floor to the ski lift, 0 reception/lobby, 1 breakfast, so I think floors 1-3 are ideal for a room.

Stayed 4 nights in mid Feb 2013. Very much liked the hotel. Staff were very helpful throughout, in particular with our 2 young kids who tend to cause chaos. We had a booking for a room for 2 adults and 2 kids but one of the beds was a sofa bed and we asked to change to a similar room with a proper bed, which we were able to do without hassle (paying the difference). Hotel is very well located for the lift up to the main ski area. Food was excellent. Would definitely return.

The Himalaia in Baqueira is sold as a 4 star hotel. It looks very nice although follows the mould of most modern hotels in design and decor. It is a little way from the centre of the resort and if you want to visit any of the bars or other restaurants in the resort it is a bit of a trek with a LOT of steps to climb. There is not much around the hotel itself and it is located in what appears to be an unfinished or run down shopping mall and is in fact the entrance to the resort car park.

It is fairly close to the gondola and they have lockers in the building adjacent to the gondola so there is no need to carry skis etc to and from every day.

We had booked and paid for a higher standard room, it appeared a little bigger than other rooms but most of this seemed to be taken up with bathroom.

Our room had a bathroom with glass walls. The glass is not completely opaque so may present privacy problems for some. The main problem is if anyone gets up at night and switches on the light in the bathroom it illuminates the rest of the room. The bathroom is large but with a lot of wasted space.

At night the heating/air conditioning was very noisy so to sleep we turned it off, this could make it uncomfortable in respect of climate.

The hotel generally was quite noisy with plumbing and noise from people from other rooms.

The food is not good. Much of it is cold except for the section where they cook to order, this is just meat or fish. The vegetables, pasta and other specials were just warm at best. As vegetarians this made mealtimes fairly unpleasant. There is a large choice of low to average quality food. We did complain and after that they offered to reheat anything we wanted and were very attentive but this didn't solve the problem.

However, staff at the hotel are excellent and stop the hotel getting a lower score from us, especially the free ski guide service, great people.

Overall we would not go back to this hotel despite loving the resort. There is better value and locations to be had in the resort.

This is my second visit at the Himalaia at Baqueira Beret.
Everthing is as good as I remembered or even slightly better.
My choice for this hotel is due to its exceptional location; very close to the gondola that takes you direct to 1.800m.
Also, it is a good value for money taking into account its competition close by which are far more expensive.
The rooms are small but clean. The food is excellent. And the people are very helpful and nice.

Definitely my choice for next year.

At the bottom of Baqueira, this ultra-modern hotel does not live up to its expectations: rooms are confortable but service is very poor. Although this is supposed to be an international resort, very few staff seem to be able or want to converse in French or English.
Rooms are modern with good quality beds, nice bathrooms and overall quiet. We stayed 4 nights with 3 children and one of the reason why we chose this hotel is because it had a kids club. This is in fact a tiny room with no window, where a cartoon is played loudly for 3 hours. The person in charge there is a young girl who is a waitress in the evening, she does not organise any games and does not even greet children coming in, appaling. My children popped in and wanted to leave immediately.

Foodwise, they are obviously trying to cut corners, buffets are served mornings and evenings and the quality is not there: tinned carrots and beetroot, cheap cuts of meat, industrial puddings. Good fuit selection in the morning and good Spanish cured ham are the highlights. Dinner is served at 8.30 which is far too late for tired children and parents. I asked if I could have some boiled pasta or a soup for my 2 year old earlier but I was told to order room service or try the snack bar. Avoid the snack bar at all cost, the barman is rude and does not want to serve customers. Long queues sometimes form at the entrance of the restaurant as the maitre d'hotel is taking each family to a table and taking drinks order, very inefficient procedure.
Overall a disappointing experience, I was expecting better food and certainly better service from a 4 star hotel.
