The positives, great location second line back from the marina and a short walk from Talamanca beach. Plenty of restaurants in area even though out of season. Generally the apartment looks nice and has enough room for a family and good facilities. Two large bedrooms with great storage and plenty of space for hanging, drawers etc. Ironing board and hairdryers which are always handy. Dishwasher and washing machine, airer for the balcony for hanging out clothes. The apartment is on the third floor but there is a small lift if you don't feel like walking. The pool is small but the area is quite pleasant with sunbeds facing towards views of the old town. In summer I think this area would be very busy but the beach is nicer anyway.
The negatives were that the plates, cups and glasses needed upgrading. Most plates and bowls were chipped. Only small glasses provided, no wine or beer glasses, only small tumblers. No dish clothes provided so if you didn't use the dishwasher you had nothing to dry plates with. (We took some with us so were ok).
There was not really enough of anything so everything needed to be washed by hand or you would have run out of plates etc.
Arrival could have been better with a few small tweaks by the owners. Our plane was a night flight and then got delayed so we didn't arrive until the early hours (which we were going to do anyway). Having checked with the owner beforehand about booking a taxi I was told that there are always plenty of taxis at the airport. Stupidly knowing that the car hire places were going to be shut, I took his advice and didn't book a taxi. (My mistake of course) But upon arrival we came out of the airport to a queue of about 100 people (and another 100 behind us!), So make sure you book if arriving on a night flight! It took us 45 minutes to finally get a taxi. We let our contact know that we were in a long queue and confirmed to her when we were on our way. When we arrived we texted her to confirm that we had arrived and was told that she would be there is about 10 minutes. We were then left to stand in the street in the cold with our suitcases while she arrived (another 15 minutes). This was particularly annoying as it was extremely late, we were with small children, we were paying an extra £50.00 for a late arrival and she knew how long it took for a taxi to come from the airport. Given that we had confirmed that we were in a taxi and she knew it took 15 minutes to get to the apartment, I would have expected her to have left and to be waiting for us at the apartment. Instead she waited until we arrived and then left her flat. This is not very considerate to guests who are arriving in a strange location, are not totally sure they are in the right place and who are paying for the privilege of being greeted. A few things would have helped. 1) a map showing the extra location of the apartment (the taxi driver didn't know it so there was a bit of confusion upon arrival). 2) Being greeted at the apartment instead of letting guests stand on the street or alternatively using a key box at the apartment on occasions of late arrival.
Other things that would have been helpful would have been instructions on how to use the oven (there was a switch on the front that needed turning on but it wasn't obvious). A list of useful local places i.e. where the local taxi rank is, closest supermarket, how to get to the beach, how to get to the swimming pool, where to put the rubbish and recycling. These are just helpful to orientate guests upon arrival and help them settle in.
The sofa on the balcony needs replacing as is falling apart. An additional coffee table in the lounge would have also been helpful as we had to keep using the one from the balcony.
The other thing to bear in mind is that the building overlooks some waste ground which is used as an ad hoc car park. During summer I would imagine that this is a large car park given the limited parking in the area. There are nice distant views of the hills to the right. To the left you look at the back of two apartment blocks and if you are really lucky between 6.00 and 6.30 you might get 10 minutes of sun in October as the sun moves between the 2 buildings. So don't take this apartment if you are looking for a sunny balcony with great views as I can't imagine it is much better in the summer. Also bear in mind that no parking space provided with the apartment but we managed to park outside the building on most days and if not around the corner on the main road. It may be harded to park during the summer.
All in all we were happy but want to give an honest review which really reflects the facilities and location. We would probably return out of season. If you want good value in a great location (Pacha is a short walk away) then this is it.
We stayed in this comfortable apartment for a week beetwen April and May and we had a really nice time. The apartment is in perfect area, 15 min walk to old town and not far from a beautiful Talamanca beach. The owner is nice, and a wi-fi worked perfectly. Maybe more towels and dishcloths would be perfect.
