“Good location”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

We spent one night at the Royal Plaza, because we were en route to Formentera. The location is very good, because you can walk to the ferry, to good restaurants, and to the old city.
The room was clean and comfortable and had a balcony. That said, the balcony overlooked an apartment building across the street with laundry hanging out, and a strip club at street level. We were facing the side; if you stay there for long you might want to request a room that faces front toward the water.
The staff were helpful and polite.
Tip for others using this as an easy access to the ferry: if you are dragging wheeled luggage, go through the municipal parking lot opposite the hotel and you'll end up at the ferry.

Spent 1 night here and found it to be the perfect base for exploring Ibiza Town. Everything was in walking distance. The hotel has a great area on the rooftop with a little pool and great beds and sofas for relaxing with a few drinks! Great breakfast the following day too. Only one slight issue is getting a drink just before the bar closes. The bar was due to close at midnight - 15 minutes before we went for a drink and had a tough time getting a drink out of the staff who had already started closing down. No last orders had been called so there was no reason, other than laziness, why we had to spend the best part of 5 minutes trying to get a drink out of the bartender. We got one in the end but very begrudgingly. Customer service is a key part of the holiday for me and unfortunately this hotel left a little to be desired in this area...

Firstly I booked this hotel because it is gay Friendly and offers a single room option with a double bed. This in itself is commendable, because it represents good value for money if travelling as an individual. The location is fantastic for connecting easily to all parts of the island and is very handy for people looking to visit Pacha, Amnesia (by discobus) and Privilage (disco bus) nightclubs. Rooms are a little dated, but clean and well maintained. I should point out i decided to book this hotel even though there are some reviews on the internet highlighting sometimes rude and unhelpful staff. Particular reference was made to management being rude to customers in past reviews (which a the time of booking I found hard to believe!). The general staff are actually very helpful. However, the management are abrupt and rude to guests and for this reason I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

The staff were friendly and helpful. They helped us every time we had any questions with directions, getting to fromentera, getting a cab to the clubs in the other town, and a cab to the airport. They held our bags all day on departure day.
The pool and roof terrace are pretty nice- they definitely make an effort to add privacy to the area. The hotel was walking distance to the shopping in Ibiza town, but this town is about a 20 minute cab ride to all of the famous clubs. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean.

Room Tip: just fyi the hotel is across from an apartment building, so you see people hanging out on their terr...

I made a last minute booking to stay here last week and although I know Ibiza well, I had never heard of the Royal Plaza.

Although it is a little dated, and in a secondary location next to the car park, it is spotless, well run, and has some great facilities including a roof top, bar, restaurant, and pool.

The staff were incredibly helpful and it was real value for money.

Room Tip: Get a room high up the building to avoid street level noise.

Rarely am I blown away by hotels nowadays. Unfortunately, this circumstance was no different.
Food: standard breakfast fare. Hot and cold foods. 2 Nespresso machines and a hot milk machine, which was nice. Good fruits and breads. I did not try any other meals in their restaurants, so I cannot comment on those.
Room: clean, but standard. Nice balcony, but my room looked out on an apartment complex. So if you want to see how the locals live I guess it can be good. Thin walls, so that unfortunately I could hear conversations taking place in the halls. They give you slippers, though! Can't complain about that.
Staff: very helpful. They had maps at the ready to show us the best places to go to enjoy the city and the best ways to get to those places.
Business center/lounge area: one computer for everyone to use. There are lots of cloth and leather chairs to relax in.
Pool: Rooftop (nice touch). Lounge chairs in addition to cabana areas with couches.
Restaurant: Rooftop. Poolside service.

Take note: There is a staircase that you must use to get your bags into the lobby of the hotel. THERE IS NO RAMP! The people at the front desk are nice about helping you get it, but goodness! That's one thing they could stand to introduce. It doesn't have to be fancy...they could put a piece of board down on the steps and secure it!

A fantastic place to stay. The whole hotel was very clean; lobby, pool and bedroom. The room was spacious, with balcony and very comfortable. The pool area on the roof was beautiful and never felt busy. I always had the pool to myself. Breakfast was of a good quality. We had a full board package and lunch and dinner was exceptionally good. We were able to choose from the rooftop restaurant menu and everything we ate was excellent. If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable and up market place to crash in Ibiza Town, look no further.
