First of all, compliments to the very attentive and friendly service! Well done!
The food, if you expect an amazing culinary experience of authentic Spanish tapas, then you might want to go elsewhere. The food is still tasty, don't get me wrong, but the menu displays a wide variety of tapas dishes, and involves non-Spanish dishes too.
As for myself, having lived in Spain, and still eating tapas regularly I set the standards pretty high. So if I expect eating Spanish tapas, I don't set for a menu which has other things like spring rolls on it, and the tapas should to be very good.
On the other hand, if you are interested in some tapas complemented with other non-Spanish tapas (finger foods) then 43 Tapas is the place to be. The menu will definitely meet your expectations, adding to that the very welcoming and warm service and the decent prices, and you'll have a good night out. This explains why some are disappointed, while others are raving about the restaurant, it's all about the expectations you have.
Despite that to me the food was average (I expected more/better Spanish), the prices and the outstanding service have lifted the rating to very good.
So to summarize: Truly authentic Spanish tapas? Go elsewhere.
All kinds of tapas / finger foods, decent prices, and welcoming service? 43 Tapas Bar.
