“Best Hotel I have been too yet!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2011

Just arrived back in the UK after 2 nights in the gran with my wife - first time we stayed here the experience was great, we stayed in a junior suite which is the standard room type and very spacious with a large semi covered terrace area with seating - rooms have a jacuzzi bath in the room along with the sinks which is different but quite nice!
It is located across the road from Pacha but you dont hear the noise at all and actually all the rooms are very quiet.
The guest services team were very helpful in booking us a table for dinner in the Pacha restaurant and a great Tapas "La Bodega" in Ibiza Town.
Pool was lovely the upstairs pool area actually had the pool heated slightly which was nice, pool area food was good and we were pleasantly surprised at the cost, thinking it may be over the top in such a high end hotel but for the setting it was very reasonable - the pool side waiters and sunbed guys couldn't help you enough.
The only downside was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room but that is minor you could always order room service.
The price is expensive but reflective of most 5 stars in the area maybe slightly lower.
Considering I work for a global travel provider and stay in many hotels with work I was very impressed with the Gran and will be back there next year I am sure!.

stayed for 3 nights

Liked

1. Room - all rooms are suites. basic suites have bath actually in the room next to your bed and separate shower and loo. All bathroom fixtures are modern and sleek. Each room has a nice private terrace overlooking swimming pools. We got sun from first thing in the morning. Great place to read and laze after breakfast. ( had been tempted to book Terrace Suite - but glad we hadn't as outside area, tho' bigger, was not that private)

2. Location - short walk to marina botafoch in one direction and to port/old town in the other. Not that we visited, but Pacha nightclub is within staggering distance. And despite the noise around Ibiza - rooms were very well soundproofed

3. Breakfast - fabulous buffet. Not a big eater at breakfast time but, had I been, I could happily have grazed for hours on wonderful selection of food

4. Very cool, hip hotel - if you like that sort of thing (shame that a crowd of british employees -on-a-work-do arrived and felt the need to shout very very loudly to each other despite the fact they were standing next to each other in the pool.). But until they arrived, hotel area and clientele seemed very chilled and discreet.

5. Swimming pools. Great main pool and adults only pool one level up. We stayed around adults only pool where large 2 seater loungers were.. Fortunately hotel not full whilst we were there so had no problem getting a lounger. Good pool service for food and drink (tho' at 5 star prices eg 8 euros for a bottle of mineral water but not out of line with Ibiza prices)

NOT GOOD

1. housekeeping - in 3 nights we had turn down service only once. Morning housekeeping was done on our first full day (ie day 2) - but not at all on the second (day 3) so we had to phone at 4pm as noone had been in whilst we had been out to make bed etc. Noone came and there was no turn down service that night

2. lack of blackout blinds. Really surprised that there were no black out blinds. room was flooded in light early morning through curtains. Not so much an issue for us but if you had staggered in from Pacha at 7am I would have thought it would have been nice to have a darkened room to snooze off in

3. No coffee/tea making facilities. In a modern 5 star hotel these days I would expect a coffee machine if not a kettle at least. And no red or white wine in mini bar in room which I thought was strange.

4. service at breakfast was a little strange. for our first 2 mornings it was ok but on last morning we were there, staff seemed obsessed with endlessly folding napkins with their backs to all the guests. we saw numerous guests going up to staff to ask for coffee or something else that they wanted for breakfast. As soon as that guest had been served, staff went back to focused task of folding napkins without looking at who was coming in, sitting down or wanting served! quite amusing to watch but far short of 5 star service!

But overall a nice hotel and one I would definitely recommend. As in any hotel, you are at the mercy of the loudness of other guests - but apart from the few loud-and-on-expenses-UK guests the rest of the hotel guests kept themselves to themselves. Staff were generally polite and efficient

we booked directly with hotel on a non refundable pre-paid basis which offered a reasonable rate.

I have just had 3 nights in the Ibza Gran, with a friend. It was our first time in Ibiza. The hotel was lovely - really relaxing, with super friendly and helpful staff. Lourdes, on the guset relations desk, totally sorted us out - she booked us restaurants, car hire and she put us on the guest list at Pasha. She really made our holiday and undoubtedly without her we would have had a very different trip.
Although I was warned Ibiza is expensive, it has to be seen to be believed - so take lots of money!

The Ibiza Gran Hotel is beautiful and definately classy. Best hotel out of the three we've stayed at and would definately recommend it. Had a celebrity staying a room away from us...

Beautiful grounds and the staff was extremely helpful. The location is the only thing that was a little difficult. It is right across the street from Pacha, which if you're partying is great, only there aren't many restaurants or ATM's nearby. You might have to taxi it to the marina. Privilege and Amnesia are less then ten minutes away and Space is about 15 in Playa Den Bossa.

Large room with comfortable bed, and great balcony. As with anything in Ibiza it is expensive, but you know what you're getting. Can't wait to go back.

I do not need to say much about the partying heaven ibiza but this hotel packs quiet a wholla situated just footsteps away from the world famous CLUB PACHA on whose opening party we had been and coincidently caught up with DAVID GUETTA the world famous DJ making his mixes at the lobby of this hotel and we managed to make friends with him. now backkt he hotel and room. well we were in a standard room which stll put a hole in our pocket by 350 euros(quiet expensive) but it was neat room overlooking the swimming pool and the sea with a bathtub inside the room, overall it was a spcious room and the amneties were quiet good as compared to other hotels around. ibiza does not have brand hotels like marriott or hyatt or starwood( atleast i remember that) and as per local news this was the best hotel in town them. the business centre was at the top floor with rather slow internet connectivity and the spa located adjacent to the swimming pool which offered a descent service again at a veryhigh price( over 80 euros for a descent massage). we did not have time to visit the restaurant or the coffee shop as we were very pre occupied with our activities throught the day and managed to return only late night.

overall i would say that the hotel is nice and considering the fact that its the only 5 star hotel in town the price factor blows a hole in your pocket.

Ideally located; Great veiws towards the Old town, Pacha just around the corner, up and coming marina area being developed with some nice restaurants.
Modern clean room with a great balcony, day bed, outside jacuzzi et al. Adults only pool area and bar. Great Spa facilities, gym etc - book on arrival for massages.
Will return.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner suite with double balcony.

This is one of those hotels that I would love to recommend. It has almost everything that I look for in a hotel including its location, spacious clean room, large balcony, great breakfast, friendly staff, lively pool scene and free wifi.

However, the lasting impression I have of this hotel is the policy it operates of ripping off guests by imposing a hidden charge for use of its spa facilities. One of the hotel´s amenities that is displayed prominently on its website is its extensive spa facilities. It has a large sauna/jacuzzi/steam section that is an oasis of calm behind the hectic pool. However, rather than inform guests that they have to pay €45 to use these facilities, they wait until after you have used them to inform you that the fee of €45 will be added to your bill!! When this charge was added to our bill at the end of the stay we demanded to speak to the manager who, after much persusaion, agreed to remove the charge from our bill.

It is a shame that the hotel charges guests to use its facilities and in particular the manner in which it is not upfront about the charges. As a result of this policy, I would not recommend this hotel this hotel to fellow travellers.

Ibiza Gran Hotel has “a la carte” services at our guest´s disposal, and our staff is here to give them all detailed information they may need. The sauna, like any other service in our Open Spa, cannot be isolated from the rest. That is why, we have created a group called Open Aqua that includes, among others, cool water poll, sauna, Kneipp or hamam.
The quality of our facilities makes many of our guests to choose this service as a way of relaxing and well being during their stay with us.
