Aparthotel Navila

Stayed here for our last few nights in Ibiza in April, and I doubt we could have chosen a better place to stay in this area. I believe we had one of the largest apartments, and I was very impressed- It was so big! All the rooms seem lovely, one seems to have a little private bridge over a path to get into it which is very cute. The room was clean and comfortable and very interestingly decorated, as was the whole hotel. There was a lot of communal areas, with TV's and such, all decorated in a similar style. The pool was located on the roof, and was closed out of season, but would be lovely in the summer. By far, my favourite thing about this hotel was the roof terrace. There was 2 levels to it, one decorated 'cafe style' with tables and chairs, and one with sunloungers. The stars you could see at night were beautiful, as were the sunsets and twinkly lights of the marina. The view was so vast it was hard to take in, as Eivissa is a very layered city , and this hotel was one of the highest. You do have to go on quite a trek to get to the hotel, and it is quite hard to find at first, but it is a very easy route to remember. You obviously have to park in the main town, although I did see some locals drive cars up the steep and twisty streets... Not something I'd try. The area is not very tourist-y in April, as most of the restaurants we had seen in the summer were closed, but there is far more going on than there is in this time in places like Es Canar. Eivissa is one of my favourite cities, and this hotel is the coolest I have stayed in. I would not recommend this to anyone with walking problems, and families with young children could find it some trouble. Overall, this is a lovely hotel in a beautiful area.

I was recommended to stay at the Navila by a friend. We had to stay in Ibiza for just one night after landing at 22.30 from Milan. My wife is 4,5 months pregnant and we have a little boy of 2. The lady who took the booking over the phone a week ago said there was an apartment available for the night of August 10th. She said that there was no need to provide credit card details: we should only give a call the day before to confirm. That is what we did. We arrive in Ibiza and provide the hotel address to the taxi driver. The driver did not know the address. He calls up the hotel and is told to leave us at the Restaurant El Portalon. We are picked up by a woman driving a rotten VW Golf. She drives us about 4 kilometers away from the hotel saying that the hotel was fully booked and the only room available was at this apartment close to the Pacha disco, in the modern part of the town. It was already midnight and our 2 year old was sleeping. The place was filthy, at the ground floor of a condo where you would not want to stay. The floor dirty with hair everywhere, the bed had no sheets, and there were some dirty sheets thrown on the bedside table. The cost for the joke was 130 Euro. I made some calls to look for alternative accommodation. Unfortunately no hotel had rooms available that night. We asked then to speak to Pepita, the manager/owner of the hotel to complain. When I spoke to here to complain about the conditions of the room, and about the lacking of bedsheets, she literally said to me: "I do not care that you do not like the room. This is the only room available in Ibiza tonight and the price is 130 Euro. We do not have any written contract so I am not obliged to let you stay at the apartment. In fact I do not want you to stay there any longer, you are requested to leave the apartment immediately or I will send a man to kick you out." Of course she was kicking out a family with a pregnant woman and a 2 year old, just because I dared to kindly complain about the complete misrepresentation that was given to us. Incredible. After some negotiations she sent us to another smaller apartment in the same condo which had a set up bed. Price paid black with no receipt Euro 100. I will report all this to the police tomorrow morning. I am not even sure that this lady is authorized to let these apartments. Please never come here.

I really enjoyed the vibe and energy at Hotel Navila. I went into it knowing that it wasn't a 5 star hotel chain with materialist things. If you expect a corporate America hotel, you will likely be disappointed. HOWEVER, if you are looking for an eclectic, interesting, homey, and safe hotel, this is your best bet! the staff was hard to reach at times, but were always a phone call or walk away. I loved that each of the rooms were different with their own view and decoration style. I loved staying there for over a week. I felt like I was staying in a local's home and that's how I like to travel. I like to be immersed in the culture. Sometimes it's good to be rustic and enjoy the simple things. Loved this place, I'd go back!

Room Tip: Two or three of the rooms don't have windows so I would avoid those. There are plenty of open sp...

I completely understand why this hotel has a loyal following. I have stayed here often.

Beds can be uncomfortable, kitchens unusable, water supply erratic, aircon poor, shower heads with no holder. 'Faded Glory' is such an apt description.

The hotel oozes charm. the pool is great and the location wonderful. It can be difficult getting the room you expected/booked. The management is generally poor, with so many repute visitors, they don't have to make a huge effort.

Looking forward to the day the hotel is refurbished.

Not suitable for children

Room Tip: Every room is different. You may not get the one you though you booked (more often than not)

This is probably the only place in Ibiza old town with a pool, and a very pretty pool it is too with fabulous views over the harbour. The rooms are (mostly) big (take care there are one or two rooms they class as doubles which don't have room to walk round the bed and you must walk sideways into the barely functional shower room). There appears to be a hardcore base of fans of this place right up to 2009 and I can see why, I personally haven't stayed here since 2007 but I know others who have simply because it is so convenient to have a pool area and be bang in the middle of the old town, and I must say I can sort of see why. Dampness in buildings is a way of life in the old town and this place is no exception, however whilst the potential of Navila is unbounded, the rooms unfortunately feel dirty, dark and grotty and the bathrooms the same. The beds seem clean but it is unlikely one would want to use the cooker or the fridge which have definitely seen much better days. Also, and most unfortunately, the old lady who runs Navila is (and this seems unanimous) a nasty piece of work who is unlikely to do you any favours and pretends not to speak English until you speak Spanish, and then continues being unpleasant - quite often until her son steps in and takes over. Avoid her at all costs. If you can put up with this, it's a beautiful building in an exceptionally lovely and convenient part of Ibiza and if you just need somewhere to lay your head with a lovely terrace and pool area with amazing views of the harbour then go for it!

This place has had its day. Never choose to stay here. The first room was dirty and smelled strongly of damp, the bed was broken, the kitchenette was covered in grease and the room was dark. Complaining to the owner and demanding to be changed to a better room was met with a shrug and a could not careless attitude: 'this is Ibiza, it is August and you are unlikely to find another place to stay'. Eventually we were moved to another room but at our own cost, €60 more to be exact. This room although cleaner was riddled with damp. Other guests complained of seeing mouse dropping in their rooms and a party of four who had booked two separate rooms we all placed in one room at the same cost. The upper terrace is a hazzard, there is no barrier to stop you walking straight off it and dropping 30ft into the street below. This place should not have a license to operate, is a health hazzard and is well passed its sell by date. We only managed to remove the smell of damp from our clothing after putting everything in the wash on our return home.
