“Fantastic food and service - dangerous bathrooms!”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

We arrived from a tour of the Baltic countries for 3 days relaxation and were not disappointed. Kuressaare is a great place and the staff at this hotel went out of their way to be nice and friendly. It was clearly enjoyed by lots of families with small children too.
Indeed, I had the best steak I have ever eaten anywhere, in the hotel restaurant and the other meals were all of a similar standard.
But the architect/planners were clearly incompetent. There are a number of reports on Tripadvisor pointing out the ridiculous design of the showers in the bathrooms in which there are no curtains or ledges resulting in flooded floors. What has not been pointed out is that the hairdryer plug - at least in our bathroom - was in a direct line with the shower so that spray could easily enter the socket if left uncovered. With the number of children around, such an arrangement is literally asking for trouble.
Nor is that all. Another reviewer has pointed out that partitions between the balconies of adjoining rooms have gaps allowing small children to squeeze through: indeed we watched from below as one family arrived and the first thing one of their children did was to squeeze through and get several balconies from her room before the parents missed her and called her back in a panic.
Those points apart, we had nothing but praise for the hotel and its staff. Without the design problems we would have given it 4 or even 5 stars.

Room Tip: Watch out for problems with the bathroom

Stayed here for 3 nights with the family. Great child focused stay, good food and wine, well priced treatments for the whole family. We have 2 daughters aged 4 and 5 who enjoyed the pools, play area, food, and their 'sparkling superstar' massages (12eur/30min or so). Professional treatments for mum and dad were roughly 40eur/70+ minutes, which is very good by UK standards. Can but recommend and will visit when back in Saaremaa

The only niggle was the room booking - I had 2 adjacent rooms booked via booking.com, however when we arrived I learned they also have suites available suitable for 4. I upgraded to a suite for double the cost, but ended up paying a 'cancellation fine' for one of the standard rooms which amounted to a single nights' charge

We stayed here one night in August - unfortunately it coincided with the maritime festival which was nearby and pretty noisy until late at night. That is not the fault of the hotel though. The room was pleasant, although I wasn't a big fan of the trendy shower which involved flooding the floor of most of the bathroom. However, the spa area is very nice (even if mobbed by kids) and the breakfast was excellent. It is around a 15-20 minute walk into the centre of town, and if I was staying longer, I might have preferred to be a bit closer to the centre, but it does have good views of the castle. Compared to other places we stayed in Estonia, I thought it was a bit overpriced but I guess Kuressaare is a big holiday destination and they can probably get away with charging a bit more.

We visited GO Spa on second week of aughust. On Saturday there was party at pool area and it just did not end ... People talking very loudly and screaming, music and so on... Impossible to sleep or open windows -the room was very hot as well. This is just bad news as it seamed like a family oriented classy hotel before. Next time we need to try another hotel.

Room Tip: Maybe suits are better ...

We stayed three nights on the island and tried 3 different hotels. This came out to be the best. Not only because we got upgraded to one of the suites on the 5th floor, but also because it was by far the one with the better facilities, the best breakfast and most important, the best bed. If we come back I would definitely stay in one of the suites. The extra space is excellent for families with children. Breakfast was not superb (you can have better breakfast in most 3-stars or higher hotels in Finland) but the it had the best choice from the hotels we tried and quality. The spa area is quite big, and it features several swimming pools, including an outdoor pool. Service was courteous and prompt throughout (we requested for a cooler with ice to take upstairs and it was provided fast and without hesitation, even though the restaurant was busy). If we come back to Saaremaa we already know where we will stay.

Room Tip: Worth upgrade to a suite on the 5th floor if you travel with kids.

Traveled to the island of Saaremaa, and stayed at the Georg Ots Spa Hotel, a very nice accommodation on the yachting harbor. The rooms were very nice and clean, the staff was quite pleasant and helpful. The breakfast dining bar was plentiful and conscientiously attended by the well trained staff, and the seating was spacious. One of a series of spa hotels in immediate proximity to the Bishop's fortified castle.

Room Tip: Any room is easily reached by elevator or stairs.
