If your on a budget the hotel bar is not the cheapest in the resort, if you like to sit and chill the Mar Belle just off the beach is very friendly and sell good clean man's portions food.

Room Tip: The front rooms over looking the pool are best with the high floors giving great views, the back roo...

We stayed at the Ereso between 24 August and 3 September with our three children aged 17,15 and 11 in two rooms next to each other. The hotel lived up to its ranking on this site and we thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. By way of summary:

1) The Hotel Itself

A comfortable, clean and modern 3* hotel which no doubt must be at the top end of the 3* banding. There are two excellent swimming pools and an outdoor bar nearby. The reception area is spacious and both check in and check out were smooth and efficient. The beach was no more than a gentle five minute stroll away. We tend to use the beach rather than the pool during the day so can't really comment on the ease or difficulty of obtaining sun loungers. When we used the pool on two afternoons we all managed to get loungers on one occasion and on the other we had a table and chairs very nearby. We tended to use the pool more towards the end of the day after coming of the beach when it was nice and quiet. A couple of times we even had the whole of the top pool to ourselves between about 6.30 and 8pm.

It's well worth hiring a fridge for 2e p/day and we also hired a security box for our stay.

There is a bar in the lounge tv area adjoining reception but it was never open. I suspect it only opens in the spring and autumn once the outdoor entertainment finishes. This was a bit of a shame if you wanted a drink in the hotel bar but didn't want to watch the entertainment (see later).

2) Our Room(s)

We were on the second floor at the back at the corner of the hotel. It had the advantage of being quiet but on the other hand there was no real view and being the corner room half of our balcony was taken up by the conrete divide with the adjacent room. That said, the room itself was absolutely fine and our daughters' room accommodated three beds with a reasonable degree of space. The A/C and the fan kept things cool and the shower was very powerful. The cleaning was adequate but not overly thorough.

3) Food

Excellent throughout with a terrific variety of hot and cold options. It certainly more than compared with that provided at hotels with a 4* rating. Despite having three fussy eaters none of our daughters had any complaints at any of the food the whole time and everyone enjoyed meal times at the hotel. The drinks to accompany lunch and evening meals were reasonably priced and if you bought a bottle of wine they would keep it for you at the next meal if you had not finished it. Even at peak times we managed to get a table for 5 almost straight away on all bar one occasion and at quieter times you could take your pick. A nice touch was the packed lunches provided when we went to Ibiza town for the day.

4) Staff

We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful throughout our stay and were always able to answer any questions we had. They are very much geared up for British guests and almost all seemed to speak very good English which us just as well given the embarrasing the lack of any effort made by our fellow Brits to even attempt to say a single word of Spanish to the staff. How hard is it to say Hola, Por Favor or Gracias?

5) Entertainment

Can't really comment on the daytime stuff as our daughters are too old for that but the evening entertainment left much to be desired. Some of the outside stuff brought in was decent enough such as Brightside, the African dancers and the parrot and eagle shows. However, the rest of it was pretty dire, the low point being the quiz which involved only questions about the hotel eg, count the number of sun loungers and stairs! We tended to go out quite a bit so it didn't matter but if the hotel is going all inclusive next year it will have to up its game on that. At the moment it didn't matter too much as you could take or leave it, however, whilst we've found all inclusive to work very well in Jamaica and it was good when we stayed in a very quiet area of Mallorca, I'm less convinced by it when you're in a town like Es Canar where there are other places to have a drink. If you're paying a premium for all inclusive then you feel obliged to stay in the hotel, at least most evenings. Personally I would've felt a little trapped feeling obliged to watch that entertainment night after night as we've in effect already paid for it, when you could take a short stroll to another bar. The hotel really ought to think very seriously about whether this is the right way to go.

6) Es Canar

Really enjoyed the town, one of the best beaches on the island which also offers pedalo, glass bottom boat and other activities. The loungers and shades are worth the money for comfort on the beach. The town has plenty of bars, shops and supermarkets and is accessible to many other places. We particularly enjoyed the bar in the town with the big swimming pool and tented seating area with great background music. Charlie's is also well worth a visit or two and the one opposite the hotel is also ok. Can also recommend the land train rides to nearby beaches and the evening trip to the hill top church and Santa Eulalia. Visiting Ibiza town and the old town in particular is something not to miss.

All in all thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, the town and the overall holiday.

stayed in last 2 weeks of august 2011. 2 parents 1 five year old. reception staff some smiley some probably a bit bored but polite nevertheless probably bored at speaking english to englanders who can't speak a sentence in spanish! room fine ours pool room overlooked the side of the stage. food OK fair bit of choice. they supply a packed lunch if you have a day out planned. pool for children which our daughter loved. mini disco at 9 which isn't a dance for small people. all the classics such as star trekkin and cha cha slide! the children love it. ents staff very committed and kevin very good at fronting it all but betty the most enthusistic. bar prices reasonable. es canar pleasant but unexcitable. good location for families of pre teenage children. excoursions would rate the pirates boat trip. steve the pirate very good!

Having stayed at the Ereso more than 20 times over the years both as a couple and as part of a group I feel I am well placed to write an honest review. We often stay with my father who is 78 and also with my children who are now aged 25,32,and 29 so have been coming since a very young age and still love it! They have even taken their friends there Several people we have met have been going for years too-as you can see from some of the reviews on here, so they must be doing something right..The service has always been fantastic with most of the staff being friendly and helpful. On the few occasions we have had problems (including one injury which needed medical attention) we could not have received more help..
The pools and surrounding areas are always clean and pleasant to sit around. The downside is the sun-bed hoggers who are up at the crack of dawn to put their towels out, but don't actually use them for hours! But this happens everywhere-very selfish!
Bar prices are very reasonable for a hotel.
The rooms are always kept spotless with towels changed every day if required. We tend to stay on the same two floors so have got to know the chambermaids very well and always have a chat with them.
The food is always very good-plenty of choice and good quality. I would agree that the dining room is not as enjoyable as it used to be, but I think this is because they have changed the layout-it is a bit more like a canteen as tables are in rows. It would be much better if they put the tables back as they used to be so that you are not sitting almost next to a stranger and listening to their conversation.
The hotel is in a great position-5 minutes from beach and close to bars and restaurants. Santa Eulalia is just a bus ride away with another lovely beach and really good restaurants. The ferry goes the harbour to Santa Eulalia from where you can change to go to Cala Llonga or even to Ibiza Town.
I have seen several people talk on here about buying drinks from the local supermarket to drink at the hotel. Would you do this at home? Buy drinks and take them to your local pub? Of course not-you'd be thrown out. Maybe the drinks would be cheaper at the bar if more people were buying them? They have to make money like any business and their prices are actually very reasonable for a hotel. I would agree that some of the evening entertainment isn't wonderful, but this doesn't affect us too much as we tend to go out. I hope they change their mind about going all inclusive as this is not good for those of us who do like to go out and enjoy the resort as we would have to pay much more for drink we won't be consuming!
With regard to the robberies mentioned, these happened on the town fiesta night so the theives probably came in especially to take advantage of most people being out taking part or still in the dining room. This sort of thing happens all over the world, even at the best hotels, and to be honest people should take responsibility for their own things by paying the 2 euros a night for a safe (which is NOT expensive-less than the cost of one drink a night) and double-locking their doors (although professional thieves can open these easily with a skeleton key). Does anyone really think that in this day and age locking your money in a suitcase is secure? Surely a locked suitcase is like a magnet to a thief? Good luck with the insurance claim on that one-no company will pay out if you haven't been sensible enough to hire a safe. The hotel does what it can-cc tv, watchful eyes at reception (where thay HAVE caught people trying to get in) and a night security man who patrols regularly, but you will never stop the determined thief. This rarely happens at this hotel but can't be totally prevented unless you have a security man sitting in each corridor and do we really want to holiday in a place like that?
Anyway-I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel very highly-we are going again at the end of September-can't wait!

We stayed here for 2 weeks in August. The hotel is lovely and clean. We got a safe as soon as arrived so had no issues with previously mentioned thefts.

We had room 623 which was super overlooking the sea and away from the noise of the enterainment.

The evening entertainment was poor (Brightside well worth watching though!) but the daytime activiites were excellent and my children aged 9 and 10 and my husband joined in with them. The pools are both lovely and clean. We always managed to get sunbeds together even if coming to the pool later in the day.

The food is excellent with a wide variety of choice, the only downside is the dining room struggles to cope with large numbers of people so it can be difficult to get a table at busy times and sometimes we were very squashed in on a small table with people constantly pushing past us.

Es Cana is a lovely small resort and I would recommend the coast walks in both directions for lovely views and pleasant beaches.

Overall had a super holiday in a lovely hotel and resort. We wont be returning again however as it is going to be going All Inclusive from next year which is not for us.

Room Tip: Room 623 fabulous sea view and large family room

The Ereso is everything you need for a chill out holiday in the sun. We had 11 days from the 8th Aug to 19th Aug on a full board basis. The food was absolutely fine but for a change of scene and to be waited on we did eat out on 2 evenings (I would recommend the Italian restaurant round the corner on the beach road). After 11 days eating in the same place it does get a bit repetative but the quality of the food was fine although you do have to pay for drinks at dinner time and with your evening meal. The rooms were a good size and were cleaned daily. We were on the 5th floor - 5 people in 2 rooms and were lucky we were facing the pool. I would recommend these rooms if you can get one. The entertainment staff at the Ereso were very good and the day and night activities were very good and an opportunity for kids and adults to mingle and make friends. The night time entertainment was mainly good but as it started at 10pm if it wasn't for you you could talk a walk into Es Cana. Entertainment always stopped at midnight so no issues with noise at night apart from odd occasions when you could hear people talking down by the pool area......(or so I was told by the missus as I was fast asleep snoring !!) If you need a sunbed you may have to get up at 7-8am to reserve which we did for a few days but on some days when we knew we weren't going down to the pool in the morning we left it and managed to get some beds late in the afternoon so overall not a major concern. The Ereso has Sky Sports so the main sports events are on the TV in the main bar area which means you don't have to go off site if you're a TV sports fan. Drinks prices were good at the Ereso - a pint of lager was 2.60 Euro but remember to ask for white rum instead of Barcardi if you want a cheaper Bicardi and Coke. Not much to do in Es Cana itself but it was pleasant walking round the shops and restaurants and bars. We stopped off a few times in bars overlooking the sea for a pint and a cocktail without the kids for a very relaxing time. We took a safety deposit box just to be sure of our money etc due to earlier reports of thefts but at 2 euros per day it was a small price for piece of mind. Talking to the reps and the staff the theft earlier in the season was one night only and on one floor and only where people did not have saftey deposit boxes. All I can say is we did not hear of any problems when we were there so problem seems to have been fixed but for 2 euros per get some piece of mind. Whilst we were at the Ereso we had no problems, everyone was healthy, we enjoyed the hotel and the entertainment and would recommend it to others who just want to get away and chill and not do alot else.
