“Excellent value break”
Reviewed 30 October 2010

I booked this hotel at only a few hours notice before an enforced work break. How pleasantly surprised I was with the hotel. For its rating, I have never seen such a clean hotel. I rise early, and before breakfast an army of cleaners beavered away in the public areas. Room was modern and very good for a single. Food was similar each day but choosing a med selection was good. Only complaints I heard were from little Englanders who still wanted their cooked breakfasts just like back home!!! The staff I thought were thoroughly professional and felt for them when having to deal with a few rude Brits. Mainly British guest hotel - PS. if the Scottish lady with English teen son & daughter who left on 17th would like to contact me that would be great would love to make contact.

If you are clinically obese and English then this is the hotel for you! I have never seen so many seriously massive people shovel food into their faces quite like this. The food is 5/10 for quality - chips with everything, although there is fresh salad each night. If you are half board, you will be served drinks by the rudest bar staff AFTER the HUGE queue of all-inclusive customers have been served, then you are charged 2 euro per soft drink for the privilege. The breakfasts - typical English fry-up given prominence - cheddar cheese, weird cold pork (?), stale croissants, etc. The bedrooms are clean, basic and small but the walls are so thin, you can hear the people snoring next door as well as all the babies and kids crying. The drunks coming upstairs from the all-inclusive bar have no consideration for people trying to sleep. The reception area is clean and staff friendly. Didn't even attempt to try the pool, bar, or evening entertainment. Es Cana is like Blackpool in the sun. We love the real Ibiza - this is not it!!!

Myself and my two sons 25 and 33 and their partners stayed here for a week. Weather was awesome untill last two days when thunder and lightening and heavy rain was the order of the day.
It was my first time to have single room which was only £10 more than a double room. I was pleasantly surprised how spacious it was. Also had a lovely sea view.
We were AI but we all found quality of food quite poor. It resembled a kids menu in a pub resturant. Things like chicken wings, chicken fritters, chips, sausages (tinned) etc. I found it hard to believe that tea or coffee weren't available at dinner times either. Though the alcoholic drinks were alright especially the lager which was San Miguel which is a brand that is Spains main lager plus its widely available over here.
The entertainment in Hotel was great if you had kids but not much on offer for adults. There were two lifts but either one was out of action on most days which was a paine especially with us all being on the 5th floor. We did walk down most days though. But walking back is definatly a no no. Can never understand why people get the lift when they're only on the first floor!!!
It rained for our last two days so had to spend most of time in hotel though we did go out most days as we had hired a car for the week. However the roof in the bar area had lots of leaks so whilst waiting at bar for drinks etc we did have to dodge the leaks. Though staff put towels on floor to stop people from slipping etc.
We all thought the AI should have started at 10am because after coming from breakfast theres over an hour to wait before we could get a drink etc.

Es Canar is a pretty little resort with a few bars and shops etc. We went to Charlies bar on a couple of ocassions where we saw two good acts one was a Robbie Wlliams tribute and other a Take That tribute. We also visited the Hippy market which was vast but not really our thing.
To sum up hotel. If the food was more selective and entertainment improved then I'm sure that one day one or all of us would go back.

We ( 2 grandparents 65 & 63, daughter 39 , son-in-law 39 , and 2 grandsons aged 7&9 ) were put in here at 48 hours notice by Thomas Cook, after the hotel we were supposed to be staying in in Santa Eulalia, decided to close a week early..........

The food, cleanliness and service were excellent for a 3 star hotel.

However.....

Should you like looking at scantily clad bodies of all shapes and sizes, absolutely covered with tattoos and piercings of all descriptions, or indeed want to show off your own collection of tattoos, then this is the hotel for you.

Should you also enjoy listening to 4 letter words at 3 am emanating through the thin walls from the inconsiderate drunken "people"(?) in the room next to you, who have no consideration for neighbours who are trying in vain to get to sleep, then this hotel is for you.

Overall, the hotel offers good value for money and is probably one of the best in Es Canar. The resort itself is a touch quiet, but has a safe, relaxing feel to it with lovely views, and other livelier parts of the island are easily accessible by bus/taxi.

Summary:

Food - Breakfast is probably the best meal on offer. Typical English of Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Beans, Tomatoes etc, and there is also plenty of ham, cheese, and croissants on the continental option. Lunch and Dinner are OK - they always have at least one edible option, but I have been to better 3* hotels for food. Main options are usually soup, salad, fish, pork, chicken, fries, with some ice cream and cakes. Snacks from 11am-12 and 17:00-18:00 are fries, burgers, sandwiches, and pizza. My advice would be to have one meal out at a local restaurant for something different.

Room - Despite the poor reviews, I actually thought the room was more than adequate. The bathroom was nicely done, and the space in the room was more than enough. The Balcony was a touch small, but apart from that it was fine. I, personally, wasn't disturbed by any noisy neighbours, but I am not saying this doesn't occur with the size of the walls (I think most hotels are affected by this). The room was cleaned 5 out of 7 days, and towels changed daily.

Location - Very quiet and intended for a relaxing break. Does have some nice scenery, though, and beach area is really nice. There are some bars and restaurants in the resort, and they probably get a bit livelier in peak season. Hippie market also ensures the resort is busy on a Wednesday - Market is worth a visit, but nothing you can't get at a market at home! Bus to St Eulalia costs €1.45 each way, and then you can get buses from here to all over the island - we went to Ibiza town for €1.85 each way.

Entertainment - There are games during the day for both kids and adults (darts, bowls, rifle shooting.......), which is a good laugh. Entertainment in the evening is very poor. Practically no adult entertainment, apart from 1/2 hour karaoke or audience participation crazy games. Kids’ entertainment is the same every night. Very disappointed in this aspect of hotel, but there are other hotels nearby (Panorama), that have some good entertainment you can go to. Charlie's bar on the seafront also offers some good acts from 10.

AI - We were all inclusive and the drinks were of reasonable standard. Hours of play are from 11am to 11pm, and you can have beer, spirits, liqueurs, soft drinks, water, etc. I found the lager to be pretty good, and better than some local bars.

Miscellaneous:
-Hotel is primarily a British hotel.
-I didn't observe any favouritism for the Half Board gusts over the AI. The bar staff at the AI area are pretty good and when there is a queue it seems to be handled well and reduces quickly.
-There are a lot of kids at the hotel. So if you're after a kids free hotel, better go to the Panorama.
-Room was facing entrance to hotel, so didn't get bothered by the dogs. Did hear a few barks at the pool, but not an issue for me.

In summary, we paid £310 AI for 7 days for 2 persons, so we can't complain as it was good value for money. Resort was more relaxing than lively, but very good holiday.

we really enjoyed our stay in the Hotel, the resort itself was very quiet, with about half of the shops and bars closed but i think that will be due to the time of year but the hotel was busy. The hotel is in an excellent position literatly 2 minutes (if that) walk fron the beach .The Hotel itself is very clean, the rooms are basic but very comfortable, i noticed in previous reviews that most people complained about the size of the TV in the room, admittedly they are small but who goes on holiday to watch the tv!!!! The food was good, always hot, a few choices each night, at least 1 fish dish, at least 1 meat dish, vegetables, chips,at 1 least potato dish, other hot dishes, plenty of salad and a choice of deserts includung ice cream and usually different meals every night, people commented that it gets repetative, but this happens at all hotels, there was always something on every night for children to eat as well, you ccan only get all inclusive drinks at one area of the bar, there is usually a que, but the bat staff got through it quiet quickly and were always polite and freindly, not sure how busy it would be in the summer though, the only 2 downsides i had to this hotel were the walls weren't very thick, a couple of nights we were woken up by the people in the floor above us in the early hours of the morning, laighing joking and moving furniture around among other things!!!! But that could be down the the inconsideration of other guests. And on our last night the person in the next room was snoring rather loudly, but a thump on the wall stopped that. The other down side would be the quality of the entertainment, i wasn't up to much, but we went to charlies bar just down the road and had a much better time, just because you are all inclusive it doesn't mean you have to stay in the hotel. I would definately go back to the hotel and would recommend it to anyone who asked.
