We loved this small hotel. The beach location is good- far enough away from the jetty and busy area, but close enough to walk to many restaurants and bars . The swimming and snorkelling was great- although on the last day there were a few too many boats coming and going . The beach sun beds were great, with food and drink service from the restaurant much appreciated.

Our rooms were gorgeous- clean, very spacious and nice decor . Breakfast was always good, with good choices and well cooked. We had a few lunches and a pizza diner- all really nice ( especially the home made pasta) . And best of all, the staff we're cheery, friendly and welcoming.

This is a hard review to write, we ate twice here during a short stay on Gili Trawangan, the first was 4* the second 2* hence my 3* rating. Position is good, you can eat on the beach next to the sea in a nicely covered area or in the restaurant/bar looking out at the sea. To be fair the food was good, not outstanding though the fish was particularly good and nicely presented. On the first occassion service was quite good and certainly friendly. On the second occassion the waiter tried hard but I wasn't expecting to explain what a gin & tonic was and then help make it over at the bar - several other incidents suggested the waiter was untrained - not his fault and he was really nice - all of this fiasco whilst the owner was at another table, not eating but discussing business over a drink, oblivious or disinterested. Not a good experience.

Positives: location & rooms
Negatives: Food, pool, staff, cleanliness

This review is very fair based on the price paid VS service received.

The hotel is in a fairly good location, it is based alongside the main strip and you can walk to the main restaurants and nicer beaches within 5/10 minutes. The rooms are a good size and offer everything you could want or need during your stay.
We were woken up on our first morning at 8.45 by the staff as they were starting to clean the rooms, I mentioned we were still sleeping and they still asked if they could come and clean, this I didn't find very professional.
Laguna Gili offer a B&B accommodation so we sat down for breakfast in the morning, which is chosen from a small menu. We ordered fried eggs and an omelette, which were brought 15minutes apart from each other. My partner's fried eggs were raw, the egg white was still runny. Generally, the food was very bad - which is a missed opportunity for any business which has a restaurant.
The pool itself looked clean, however the loungers were old and ripped - this wasn't a huge deal as most people go to Gili for the beach but still not to standards for any hotel.
The staff need some customer service training, but they seemed nice.
When I mention cleanliness in negatives, I am referring to things like towels for example. Everything is stained, especially the white towels have yellow stains which is a concern.

Overall, our stay was comfortable given we only slept and showered at the hotel. It is in desperate need of TLC if they expect to the charging top prices for the island. I would recommend spending some money on the restaurant/chef and replacing old and ripped furnishing and dirty towels and sheets.

Spent a nite here. Place near jetty, walking distance for food stall. Surrounded with cafe n bar for drinking & relaxing.
Room was ok but slow water shower, make it difficult to control d water heater. For a spacious room, aircond not enough to make it cool. You'll still feel warm. As for breakfast it's not meant for Muslim because I can see pork & ham in d menu.

We stayed at Laguna for 4 nights and overall would recommend this place to others.

Pros:
The room was tastefully decorated and spacious, and cleaned twice a day, with fresh beach and bath towels provided daily.
The grounds are kept immaculate and have a nice tropical feel.
The breakfast selection was good and you can order as much as you want.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
The pool is nice, although the water gets very warm from the sun.
The beachfront area, with lounge chairs and umbrellas, is great for relaxing.

Cons:
We had our aircon on 16 degrees and full fan for our whole stay, but the room still felt warm most of the time, I suspect because of how big the room is.
The Italian owners didn't seem very approachable or friendly to us. We walked past them several times but they never said hello or acknowledged us.
There is a daily 4am wake up call from the mosque, which we could hear from our room (number 9), but to be fair this affects most hotels in the area.
The wifi is patchy and unreliable (but again, this could be an island wide issue).
