We had an okay time at Hotel Vila Ombak - mostly we were disappointed because we didn't realize how incredibly small and rustic the huts were - they were barely big enough to fit our suitcases plus us. There was no mosquito net over the bed and we got eaten alive on our first night because both doors didn't close and seal very well. The hut felt unstable, walking on the floor you could feel it move. It was an interesting idea but the next day we asked to be moved to one of their regular hotel rooms as it was our Honeymoon and the hut was zero on the romance scale. The new room was okay and we appreciated being moved, but it smelt a bit damp and mouldy (kind of common in the lower accommodations we found) and it lacked any character. There were a couple of okay things at the hotel, the pool was certainly very nice, great temperature and lovely design, very jungle-feeling but very close to the beach. The other thing we loved was renting the bikes and riding around the whole island, they were extremely cheap and it was handy to have them right at the hotel. Food was just okay, drinks were over-priced. Overall we didn't really love our time at the Hotel and were glad to move on after our 4 nights were done. This isn't the place for you if you're looking for a quiet, relaxing or romantic time (go to the other side of the island), it's right on the main drag and the pool pumps top 40 pop music all day long and is usually packed with a lot of loud 20-somethings there to party.
