“Our Island Dream Came True”

After we had read the great reviews about Manta Dive Resort we decidet to stay there one week. Finally we extendet our stay for 2 days, because we just didn't want to leave. For us the Manta Dive Resort is the best place to stay on Gili Air (or even on the Gili Islands). If you wanna go diving around the Gilis, you will love it! And if you are just looking for a friendly and cozy place to stay, you will be very happy you have chosen Manta Dive Resort. Maybe there are cheaper places to stay, but after you have seen the room, eaten the delicious breackfast and felt the great mood, you know its worth the money!
We both did diving courses there (SSI Advanced Adventure, SSI Open Water Diver) and really liked it. The instructors are very friendly and professional and also the local dive guides are just great.
If you have any questions, the office staff can help you in any case.
One thing we didn't like so much were the fins, because they are without boots. After a week diving we could feel that on our feet. However, everything else is perfect and if you should have any problems, the staff is well equipped.
Gili Air itself is just amazing! Around the harbour on the main road it might be a little busy somethimes because all the resorts and restaurants are located there. But if you just go a little further, you will find your own quiet withe sand beach like on a deserted island.

Hotel has bungalows not far from the sea, so you can listen to waves from your terrace. Rooms are a little bit poor - there is no TV, no cupboard, just small table and couple of chairs on a terrace. But I think that it's enough for this island, all you need is nature and ocean :) Breakfast was good, but cappucino is for additional cost. Hotel doesn't have beach, and even no good places to lay on a sand, you'll have to walk somewhere. Pool is often has many divers.

We thought the accommodation at manta dive was really good value. The rooms are simple and on the smaller side but they are fairly new, really clean and they are really well designed so it doesn't feel small. Our room had an outdoor bathroom with a really nice hot shower. The included breakfast was pretty good too. We also did the introductory dive course and went on an instructor led dive with them. I would definitely recommend going with manta dive if you want to do a dive course or if you are already certified. They were so professional and organized. We had a group of only 3 people for our lessons in the pool and our instructor Dita was really great. He even taught us more skills than we technically had to do for the introductory course because we had some extra time. This meant we had more fun on the dive as we had enough confidence and skill to really enjoy it. Unfortunately our visit to gili air was not long enough to complete the full certification course but I would definitely choose them if you are considering this. Also the spot they took us diving was amazing and not far away. They do many different types of dives everyday so they would be a good choice for any skill level.

We really enjoyed our stay at Manta Dive. The rooms are clean and the staff helpful. We stayed one night in a Sasak room and shared the family suite the other nights. The water was slightly salty, but no big deal. We loved the diving too.

My girlfriend and I spent a week at Manta Dive and I must say, it is definitely one of the places that we are very keen on visiting again. If you arranged airport transfer with the resort prior to your visit, (highly recommended) a member of the staff would be waiting for you at the arrival hall of the airport and takes you straight to the resort regardless of the time of your arrival - which was a major plus and relief for us as our flight from Denpasar, Bali to Mataram, Lombok was delayed for almost 3 hours. From the airport, it takes approximately 45 minutes by car to the harbour, followed by a half an hour boat ride to Gili Air.

We stayed in a traditional sasak-styled bungalow, fully furnished with western fittings. It also has a outdoor bathroom. Fresh water is considered a luxury on the island, hence be prepared to get used to bathing with salt water, it's not as bad as one might think though. We could have gone with a slightly thicker blanket as it gets a little too chilly at night, but again, that's up to personal preference. If you're planning to get as far away as possible from technology (like us), this would be the perfect place as there are no TV and internet in the room. And if you are traveling from Malaysia/UK or any other country that uses a three point plug for your chargers/hairdryers/etc, don't forget to bring an international adapter.

The Gilis is definitely one of the nicest places for diving as it has a rich variety of marine life as well as beautiful corals. I took my SSI Open Water and Advance Open Water license with Pia Klemp and Rich Farmer - which are two of the friendliest instructors I've had the pleasure of meeting. They are very professional and also gives you a sense of security and fun especially for first time divers like me. I would definitely recommend these two instructors if you are planning to take up diving on the island. If you are not into diving, (trust me, you should.) snorkeling around the house reef in Gili Air is equally as satisfying as you are still able to enjoy the beautiful corals and reef fishes.

The locals are very friendly and most of them (if not all of them) are fluent in English which made the trip even more enjoyable. A week's stay is definitely not enough for us and we're hoping to visit again in the near future. It is a perfect balance of paradise and affordability.

Second stay in the last few months.

Rooms are great, spacious and comfortable and several brand new. Only downer is water is all saline but then that is true for everywhere in the Gilis so no criticism of the resort, more just something to be aware of.

Went in december and it was good, went back this month with a big group (took most of resort) and also very good. My daughter needed a dive refresher course and they were very accomodating and the instructor (Rich) was very helpful and went way out of his way to help. Many thank to Jon and Alex. Due to timing diiving later with him didn't pan out but he certainly put the effort in. Similarly us faffing around with dive schedules was happily accomodated and all there were very helpful whether it being helping my daughter out with finding meds or us switching dive boats with minimal notice (sorry but thanks if you are reading). Boats are of the local jukung outrigger type but plenty big enough and spacious and all the dive sites are nearby anyway. My daughter hates back rolls but the guys (esp Suno, cheers dude) were very helpful on helping her gear up in water. My youngest daughter doesn't dive but she came on the boat and one of the guys was happy to go snorkelling with her, managed to see a bunch of turtles and the odd ray so she was happy too.

Def going back, hopefully asap. Very nice and relaxed and very helpful and friendly staff, diving is rather good as well. Gili Air is very quiet but, while not tons of choice, food options and quality are better than you may likely expect. Our kids are difficult in this respect but no issues keeping them fed and watered.

The owner John was really helpful in finding us transport from Bali to Gili Air, picking us up from the boat, and even arranging accommodation for us in Gili Tranwangan afterwards. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was really good. Breakfast was great, with toast, eggs, cheese and a fruit platter, however, the juice was cordial. We also did some diving which we really enjoyed as well as the snorkeling just out the front. The hot water shower is great, however there is only salt water so after 3 days I really needed to properly wash my hair! We would stay again here, thanks!
