Currently staying here on a trip for 4 nights arranged by and funded by work
On the good side. The location is nice, the staff are great, the bar prices are low and the food is very good. There is a good gym, sauna and small pool
On the bad side. The rooms are comfortable and clean but it ends there
The rooms are very dated and poorly equipped. There is a tiny old tv with 5 channels and no remote
The bathroom is straight from your grannies house in the 70's. Coloured suite, wooden toilet seat that won't stay up and a shower connected to the bath taps complete with shower curtain that sticks to you
In fairness everything does work ok
By far the worst thing is the NOISE
I am writing this at 6 in the morning having had little sleep. You can literally hear the person next door turn over in bed! Snoring, coughing, text messages arriving, tv, light switches clicking, doors opening, toilets being used. The sound travels from all over the place
In addition people arrive in the car park from 6am slamming doors, pulling trollies and rattling golf clubs
If you're staying on a lads golf trip I'm sure it's great but if you need to get and relaxation avoid this place at all costs
It's a great shame as they are carrying out decorating etc but I can't see how they will solve the noise problems without rebuilding

We stayed for 3 days 2 nights on a golf break, it was our 7th visit and by far the best. Our format was one round on the championship Wensum course almost 7000 yards long, much to long for mid to high handicap golfers. But still enjoyed it as it was set up from the previous weeks EURO-PRO tour event a very tough challange. Night time was spent watching Sky sports on giant screens or playing pool and snooker and enjoying the bar.We also stay in other hotel/golf complex's and the food here is better than any other we have tried and paid a lot more for first class menu choice.
the next 2 days we Played the Valley course not short at 6350 but a real test for any golfer with no rain for 7 weeks the fairways were firm not rock hard greens and tees lush green well looked after a great course.
My oveall impresion of the staff was that nothing is to much trouble a pleasure to help not a hinderance like some other places

Room Tip: Room 76 is a great family room it is gigantic

My Partner and I were supposed to fly from Norwich Airport to Edinburgh but our flight was cancelled due to a technical fault, our Flight company arrange accomodation for us at Wensum Valley, the hotel was comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful, the Chef stayed late to cook meals after the kitchen was supposed to close for all of the gourp who were on our flight even though he was in agony with tooth ache, the hotel even arrange for the breakfast staff to open at 6.00am instead of 7.00 to accommodate our early departure, the golf courses looked great and as a golfer plan to return to have a game, It was a shame we were not prepared for this extra stay as the pool looked very inviting. In all definately a place to stay

On arrival the reception staff where most helpful and very importantly where smiling and happy in the job they where doing. I was introduced to the owner of the hotel who was most accommodatiing and took me to see the best fishing spots within the curtilage of the hotel and showed me the best way to get there whilst navigating the superb golf courses there (2 of them and both 18 holes) My friends had a great day on the golf course and I enjoyed an excellent days angling on the river wensum. The evening meal , service and quality of cuisine was very high. Magda and her team excelled themselves and all the while with a smile. Same at breakfast. The room was clean and modern. Basically a no frills hotel wand excellent value for money which is what we like. An easy going atmosphere which made for an excellent wekend. We will return. We recently held a Dinner Dance for 160 guests at Wensum Valley. The food and service was fabulous, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the night. We will definitely be returning. Some people also stayed and the comments about the accommodation and breakfast were very good.

A group of 13 travelled to the hotel for their New Years Eve Gala Ball. The rooms were clean and of a reasonable standard. We were lucky to be given the honeymoon suite which was huge with a spa bath although we didnt get change to use it. The walls are thin and we could hear the next door TV through the walls. The men played a round of golf while the women relaxed in the spa area which was pleasant and clean all included in the price. Although we had to walk outside to the function room this was undercover so not a problem. The ball was organized really well and the food was lovely. The DJ didnt get off to a good start but after some guests spoke to him the music did improve however this is personal choice I guess. There were Scottish pipers at Midnight which was a nice touch. The room was cleaned and ready to service breakfast at 7 the next morning and I was impressed you couldnt tell what had gone on the night before. Breakfast had a good selection and was tasty. We had a lovely stay thanks to the hard working staff.

have just returned from an overnight stay at this hotel and after having read some reviews was rather anxious! On first impression the hotel is especially unattractive - looks more like a secondary school. Quite strange! Our double room was ok but very dated - it was also away from the reception area which meant a very short walk outside , through a door, up some stairs, through another door , down a corridor and opposite the beauty salon!. However the hotel was hosting several dinner /dances and this may have been a blessing in disguise as it was far enough away not to be bothered by the music.
The dinner / dance we were attending was great - the service , the food, drink prices etc were all superb. They obviously know what they are doing in this area as there were several events happening all at once and it was beautifully organised.
Our room was very quiet BUT you could hear everything through the walls and out in the corridor - think we were just very fortunate not to have noisy neighbours!
Breakfast was great - a lovely choice and we were served at the table which is a lovely change. I had smoked salmon and scrambled egg!
Would i return to this hotel ? for a similar event yes I probably would as the positives outweighed the negatives. Don't think it would be a hotel for a romantice get away though as it just did not have enough charm or atmosphere.
