Stayed 2 nights 26/27 August and was happy with facilities, parking etc. The room was quite okay except for the bathroom which had ridiculous fittings, washbasin, toilet and stupid narrow bathtub that one had to get into for a shower.(Never can figure out why they bother putting bathtubs in every room in most hotels, I would say 20% with bathtubs would be enough for the number of people who would want one).Staff were good and breakfast was not great but satisfactory.Location is fine and I would certainly stay there again if I ever get back to Mukdahan.

This wasn't the best of hotel experiences for me. I was only using it as a 'Visa Run' but though I might have gotten better value. The good points are that it is central and close to the market. It does have a pool and the front desk staff were great, but the room was very average and the corridors were dark and had ceiling panels missing. It reeked of 'we don't really care'.

Room Tip: I wouldn't go there again.

As with most things when travelling in Thailand its a bit hit and miss... not this time. I stayed in this hotel some years ago and was reasonably impressed... now its even better. 700 baht for a clean, nice room with god hot shower and quiet air con and comfortable bed and breakfast... unbeatable... friendly staff, good welcome, good service and well positioned for everything Mukdahan. Plus a swimming pool! This hotel puts most hotels which cost twice as much in Bangkok to shame!

Room Tip: Just enjoy!

Parts of this hotel are bright and new, and others in serious need of a refit. Presumably the price you pay determines the age of your room. My stay was in the bottom range rooms and they were ok, but plumbing had some serious problems.

The staff are friendly and very helpful.

The breakfast (included) was good, with a variety of choices.

I stayed here for one night at a rate of 706 baht incl. breakfast through Agoda. Reception area quite impressive but bedroom a little disappointing. First sight of my bed revealed a brown stain which was quite off-putting. However, on closer inspection I think it was an ironing burn. Bed was reasonably comfortable and bathroom had hot water. I found ants around my toothpaste in the morning. On the night of my stay a group of Thais moved into some adjacent rooms and, as Thais do, they used the corridor as a common room and shouted to each other from their respective rooms. Thais do this...I live in a condo block in Chonburi. Breakfast was on the third floor and I found a good selection of Asian and "farang" food well presented. Conclusion...a busy hotel in a busy border city. At the price it wasn't too bad for one night. Nothing to write home about though.

OK I did not stay in this hotel, but I just checked it out and was showed to the all hotel. What did struck me when I entered the parking, lobby and later the tower is .... is this really a new hotel? Or an renovated hotel?

It is located just outside the city centre and has two buildings. The front building has about 4 floors and houses the cheaper rooms of 750 Thai baht. The second building is an high tower of about 15 floors and houses the "better" rooms starting at 950 Thai baht. Prices are incl. breakfast buffet. Rooms look good and modern decorated in natural style with wooden floors.

But looking a bit better the furniture does not look new .... I am wrong?

Well still I think a good price for the kind rooms and if you are staying on the higher floors you will have a great view over the Mekong river and Laos. The staff was friendly and service minded.

I had the pleasure to stay at this hotel for two nights while n Mukdahan mid-January 2012. What a beautiful brand new hotel and while construction was not yet complete, this will surely be one of the best hotels in Isaan. Rooms are extremely large with a small tiled balcony. Hartadwood floors in the rooms add a nice touch and certainly beats the usual tiled floors that are found throughout Thailand. Staff are extremely friendly and the hotel manager speaks beautiful English. Excellent location for walking to the Indochina Market and local attractions. Ample free parking. I look forward to staying at River City again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Mekong
