“Nice hotel + amazing entertainment but be careful if you go with Luxair”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 September 2013

Nice hotel, nice structure not far from Kos city. Amazing entertainment done by Mr Alex and his time, professional entertainers adapted to this kind of hotel.
Only thing, be careful if you go with Luxair because rooms available are not the ones described in the catalogue: we booked a front view room and got at the arrival the room with view on the bar (working lately in the night) and the toilets of the swimming pools... really poor service for what we paid simply because Luxair doesn't have in the catalogue sea front rooms. The hotel tried to arrange the situation offering us another couple of rooms which were also really poor and far from what expected (one room was the one reserve to guests living late who wanted to take a shower...) Finally we paid the upgrade and got room with swimming pool. If you can see the room before and choose it, I would suggest this hotel.

Room Tip: be careful to the rooms, prefer to pay and upgrade to have the rooms with private swimming pool. Onl...

The location is perfect: very large rooms, sand beach (which is not common in Kos), swimming pools. We had a room with view to the swimming pool, which was great as our son could go there and come back easily and we could keep an eye on him even from the small terrace. The food was very good, the service of high quality. At the bar, they have very good coffee. The animation team did a great job with the kids.
The hotel is also at 15 min bus drive from Kos City. The most facile way of getting there is the bus. It has air con, is not crowded, the price of the ticket is around 1,8EUR.

Room Tip: if you travel as a couple or a family of three, you must book the rooms with exit directly to the sw...

Stayed September 2013. Great hotel you wont be disappointed. The location is a bit out of the town but only a bus ride away. Our room was great, it overlooked the pool and evening entertainment area which if you don't like the smoking We could enjoy all the entertainment with out the smoke sitting on our balcony. You couldn't fault this hotel for cleanliness it is second to none. My only real gripe was the food and coffee could have been much hotter. Goergio the morning and evening waiter was great some times we would be 2 or 4 and every time he found a table for us also the animation team did have a hard time getting people to participate but when they did they all had a great time Leo and Alix were great fun for all .Christina the cocktail/bar staff was great always had a smile and very friendly but not over bearing which some can be. Would surely be going back at some time.

Room Tip: Room 116 was a great view of the evening entertainment

Stayed August 2013.

If you know Thompson Sensatori, think of it as a cheaper version of a similar product.

Family orientated resort for a relaxing break.

The hotel's Entertainment team are the ingredient that make the difference. Headed up by the charismatic Alex, the 6 strong team work hard to offer activities through the day and then host/perform low-key karaoke & quizzes in the evening - and they are brilliant with children. The kids club for 'drop-off' sessions is small however (12 spaces max), needs upgrading and is aimed at 2 - 7 year olds.

In the main hotel is the bar and large buffet restaurant, open for all meals with plenty of choice. We were 'all inclusive', often a trigger for poor service, but were impressed throughout our 10 day stay by the restaurant and bar staff alike.

There is also a bar & restaurant, open lunch & dinner, at the beach.

Accommodation is clean, well decorated & maintained and all rooms have air con.

The question of best room type/location always causes lots of debate & while all the rooms have their plus points if given the option I'd go for a ground floor or swim-up nearer the sea (400s or 500s). We were actually near the main pool and it was perfect, so don't worry too much.
Perhaps avoid 100-120, 200-220 & 300-320 simply because of proximity to the main building and hence a little noisier / busier.

Reserving of sun beds (despite the notices) was the norm - but it is everywhere in the world, so just play the game. There are plenty of beds however.

Spa was average. It's downstairs in the main building and seldom used. Usual facilities and range of treatments.

Reps from tour / car hire companies frequent the main lobby area and so arranging trip around/off the island is easy. Bus (€2) or Taxi (€12) into Kos town allows access to all the bars, restaurants and nightlife you'll want - and you will want to because as good as the Odysseus is, you will want a change of scene after a while.

It was good. And would I go back? Yes.

You won't be disappointed

We (wife, a 2 year old and myself) stayed 7 nights at the Iberostar Odysseus in the beginning of September. The hotel is very nicely decorated. It has a soothing upscale design, as apposed to some of the other "flashy/outhere" hotels you would come across in the islands. Our room was great and highly recommended - it was on the 2nd floor of the main building, which meant you are close to all of the facilities. Great thing about it (besides the great sea view) was, it had a small yard with grass, that our son used as a mini playground. Only downside was the proximity to the dining room, which could mean some noise (although it didn't bother us). We were on a half board basis and both breakfast and dinner were very good. very wide selection of food - Most of it was with good quality, although not upscale. Desserts are a big NO NO! We couldn't finish one dessert throughout our entire stay - Pastry chef needs to be switched ASAP.
Biggest question mark is location - on our 2 first days, we enjoyed the location - the proximity to Kos town is very convinient and weather was great. However, from the 3rd day onwards, there were very strong winds which made it very hard to enjoy the beach and swimming area in the northern part of Kos. From that point, we drove daily to the southern part of the island, which has great beaches - Paradise, Camel, etc'... and almost no winds at all. Would recommend considering staying in the keffalos/Kardamena area which is wind free.
Service wise - Most of the staff were friendly, but not great. We had a few issues with the room housekeeping and with staff who seemed warn out at the end of the season.
The resort has some attractions for kids but very limited hours. There are resorts with many more attractions to keep the kids entertained.
All in all very nice resort with good value, but could probably do better location, service and kids wise.

Room Tip: Our room was great and highly recommended - it was on the 2nd floor of the main building, which mean...

Had a lovely time, the hotel is quite away from tigaki and kos, you will need to get the bus or a taxi to either. The hotel is clean, modern and the staff are all lovely, thankyou to aris, ilias for helping make our holiday. Also a special thankyou to kostas and the guys on reception for there help. If you want to relax this is the place. The entertainment team I feel have got it just right they dont pester you, they will approach you and ask if you want to join in then if you want to go you can. We had a great time and would definately recommend this hotel.

Stayed at Iberostar Odysseus between 29th August - 5th September. Found the hotel excellent. Contempory, modern decor very clean and spacious. Stayed in a swim-up room. Lovely room but the terrace leading onto the swim-up got no sun till 5pm. In fact anyroom that faces towards the sea will not get sun. If this a problem make sure to book rooms that face inland. Our room number was 426. Food was excellent. Very wide variety, nicely presented at every meal. Staff were attentive and helpful. Snacks were available midmorning and mid-afternoon. Tried the italian theme menu at the beach restaurant but, to be honest, preferred the buffet. The hotel is quite isoloated, there is no local village or shops you can walk to. The bus to Kos stops opposite the hotel (it is a circular so you get off at the same place you got on) Very cheap and reliable. Takes about 15 mins to get there. Kos town was lovely and the buses run till late at night if you want to go in the evening. Entertainment, to be honest, is not great but they do try really hard. The entertainment staff are great and very funny. There is stuff going on most of the day if you want to join in but it is the evening entertainment that perhaps lets things down slightly. Weather was cloudless blue skies all week and very hot but unfortunately there was an extremely strong wind blowing constantly which made keeping your sun parasol up very difficult and making the evenings abit chilly. Don't know if this is usual or just was bad luck. Would certainly return here but would probably just book a standard room unless we could guarantee one that got the sun. Takes about 40 - 45 mins on the transfer from airport. Heard awful reports about Kos airport and it is a bit strange but we had no problems. You have to queue outside and they let in a few people at a time to check in. There is cover to stand under and seats and we found the process to move quite swiftly and efficiently. ||The departure lounge is not large and would not like to be there for any length of time but again our stay was short and we were soon boarding the plane. Travelled with Thomas Cook found them very satisfactory - nice cabin crew both ways. Plane not too bad at all
