“Excellent Hotel which we got for a bargain”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

Stayed here middle of May, on arrival check-in was quick and we was given a room overlooking the swim up pools. Rooms are large and modern with a TV and mini fridge which is filled daily (if AI). Bathroom includes bath and shower.
The hotel grounds are quite large and we never found a problem finding a sun lounger. Large plastic cups are provided near the pools.
Almost everything about the hotel was very good. The food was plentiful and of a very good quality. A must try is the pork ribs they do. My only issue with the restaurant is that even this early in the season, we had to queue to sit inside or eat outside. Eating outside was an issue on 1 night when it was extremely windy. I imagine in peak season sitting outside will not be an issue however I imagine the queue to sit inside will be larger.
One other small issue is the bar. There was only one open when we was there, and this had a lot of seats across the front making it hard to ask for drinks. There was also only 2 people behind the bar and around 6 people waiting, which meant they were seen to first and you would have to wait. Maybe have more people behind the bar?
Beach was a little rocky but very clean. Some building work to the right of the hotel but no noticeable noise, in fact the noise from the cows on a nearby field was louder than the construction sight.
All in a very good relaxing break. I would definitely stay here again, and was looking at going back in July, however the price had more than doubled to what we paid, and in my opinion would not be worth it, can go to the Caribbean for the price.

Just arrived home from our stay at Astir Odysseus and had a very relaxing holiday. The hotel is a bit more isolated from other areas in Kos. In fact when you do approach from the roads there are many half built building sites, and rubble piles. But when you come through the gates the hotel complex sprawls out in front of you. The reception and interior of the main part of the hotel has just undergone a revamp and I must say looks very good. Think hip hotel with long flat sofas and minimalist decor. Very nice first impression.

We travelled as a family of four and booked a junior suite. They were quite spacious, but not as large or luxurious as I was expecting - with one bathroom, comfortable beds and great air conditioning (much better than other hotels we have stayed in). There were three beds in the main room and 1 sofa bed in the living area (they call it an 'area' but it was very small and a bit dull). Main issue is the doors for the room, wardrobe and bathroom all seem to open next to each other - which does lead to a bit of a complex tangle. The balcony is large, with some comfortable chairs and table. Only let down by the planter area between the balconies - ours was growing a tall weed, rather than a nice flowering plant.

The hotel complex is big and supports 2 pool areas with bars and 3 restaurants (although the beach one was closed for refurbishment whilst we were there). The beach area is ok with some fine sand but mainly pebbles, sun beds and umbrellas. The pool by the sea is very large and long and has plenty of sun beds. All finished off with some nice decking.
There is 1 towel station by mini club to get fresh towels whenever you need them. We had no issue with finding sunbeds at any time of day (but we did go out of busy season).
The day time entertainment was ok, usual shooting, darts, volleyball, boules etc. Did break up our day and was a bit of fun. Special mention to Gill - who was very good.

The main restaurant is great, much better than other AI hotels we have been to. The food is delicious - very good quality - 3 times a day. Greek night was the best with some lovely Greek cuisine. The wine incidentally is very good and very drinkable!
There is 1 main bar around reception - and the waiter service around the bar was very good.
This does bring me onto the drinks. Excellent. The cocktails were all freshly made rather than ready mixed and tasted great. Makes a real difference. Also a mini bar in the room with water, cans and beer ( replenished daily).
The entertainment on an evening was round the main bar - outside venue. They were a bit amateur to be honest - but tried hard so fair play for that. Not much in terms of 'bought in' professional entrainment that we saw.
This is however, more of a couples / adults hotel than a family hotel. There are not many kids about (which may please some). Even though we went in half term our kids didn't find any friends - which was a bit of a let down for them.

A major positive for this hotel is how clean and tidy it is. The staff work tirelessly to keep every area clean and it really shows. The room cleaning was also very good, kept our room very clean for the whole week. Free wifi also available throughout the hotel.

Kos Town is only 10 minutes away by car and well worth a trip. We went 3 or 4 times as there are plenty of archaeological sites, a castle, bars, restaurants and shops. Tigaki beach is only 7 minutes away which is the longest beach on the Island. Shops and bars here as well. Zia is about 20 minutes away by car - must do this in early evening to see the beautiful sunset.

So in summary a very very good hotel which deserves its high trip advisor rating. I would give this hotel 4.5 if I could (leaning towards 5) as the junior suites and entertainment were a little less than I was expecting. But the acid test is would I return? And the answer is yes!

My wife and I have just returned from a weeks vacation at the Astir Odysseus .
While being a very good resort and maybe a 5 star by Greek standards. I would rate it more a good 4 star .

On arrival in the early hours we were greeted at reception with sandwiches and fruit. With the all inclusive package fully explained. Free Wi-Fi and the use of the room safe was a pleasant surprise.
We were then speedily transported to our pre-booked swim-up room ( 512).
At night and due to our route to the room the resort seemed large but viewed in the daytime it wasn't really.

Our room was in a good location in the Venice pool area which half circles round the swim-up rooms.
This area is half way between the main building and the rear beach pool area.
Being central we could easily access the facilities in both areas.
Our room was spacious and clean with all the extras you would expect. The bathrobes and slippers were also a nice touch and useful if the tiled floor became wet after pool use or from staff cleaning.
The swim-up area was wood decking with a comfy chair and small sofa. We were able to enjoy the sun here from early morning until late afternoon, if this was our preferred choice.
The swim-up rooms are well worth the extra and are good value compared to other resorts with similar in the area.
The rooms were cleaned and the bedding changed daily. With fresh towels and the mini-bar restocked if required.

The standard of meals and drinks on offer was very good for an all inclusive package.
Only towards the end of our stay did there seem a slight drop in the quality of choice but this may have been more to do with our personal preferences.
Only the main Achilles restaurant was open when we stayed the smaller beach diner (Argo) was closed in preparation for the main summer season.
Both the restaurant and bar staff are excellent in attitude and service which was top notch !

There are two pool areas not including the Venice pool for the swim-up rooms.
The pool next to the main building was very popular and offered very comfortable sunbeds.
The beach pool although more spacious offered sunbeds which were fairly standard.
Although the hotel make an appeal for people not to reserve sunbeds ,in truth this is ignored.
When we visited there were always sunbeds free even in late afternoon.
Although I could see this being a problem at the height of the summer season!
Access to the small beach is via the beach pool and this was a major disappointment.
This area of the hotel really needs looking at as it is bit of an eyesore, certainly not as illustrated in the photos on the website.
Towels for the sun loungers are supplied so there is no need to take your own.

An other area of disappointment was the entertainment , although the team try hard it is pretty basic.
For some holiday makers the location of the hotel is pretty isolated between Tigaki and Kos town with transport being required to easily visit both.
So I would have thought that the hotel would have made sure the entertainment especially at night was of a good quality.

On the surrounding area, the small resort of Tigaki is 5km from the hotel with a scattering of shops and bars etc. The beach is the highlight here and worth a visit.
In the opposite direction from the hotel about the same distance is Kos town which offers many excursions , restaurants & bars, shopping etc.
From the hotel the local bus will take you into town for 2euro and return you for 1.5 euro?

We found some of the excursions in Kos quite costly for what you got !
I normally go scuba diving where ever I am on vacation but at 90 euro at(Llamis Diving) for a day trip with two dives ! I thought this too expensive !

I would recommend the bicycle hire from the hotel. We tried this for a day and it was so stress free compared to driving a car or a motor scooter. I wished we had done this sooner !

All in the hotel and our vacation was good.
I would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Kos bearing in mind the few disappointments I have highlighted which to some , may not matter.

Room Tip: Book a swim-up room its worth it ! All the rooms number with 5 as the first digit face inland and n...

Stayed here June 2014.
Lovely hotel although a bit disjointed as there was some waste land to the left with goat's and sheep which was quite amusing and what looks like land that's being developed to the right which was in the way of my so called "sea view".
However the room was nice, very clean and surprising quiet and noise at night was not a problem.
The restaurant was spotless and the food was a high standard the staff all work so hard. The a'la carte was also very good and well worth booking.
The house wines very of a high standard and beer and cocktails also good.
The hotel shop was small but very reasonable and the lady who runs it really nice.
The animations team were good and did everything from towels, mini club, aqua aerobics, pool side activities and evening entertainment. Kasha and francesca were great and my daugher loved them.
We really enjoyed our stay, if you want a quiet get away from it all hotel then this is for you, if you want a lively nightlife then it's not, a bus into kos is 2 euro and right outside the hotel and a taxi back is 12 euros.
I hope you find this useful.

We spent 1 week at the Astir Odysseus and I really loved this place. As we planed to relaxe during our time there we booked a room with shared pool. That means you just went out of your room and could jump into the pool directly from your terrace.

The room was not really nice and the housekeeping did a great job all week long. Also the restaurant was awesome. We booked halfboard for the time there and it was a fantastic buffet every evening. The breakfast served something for everyone and with the friendly service it was always the best start and the perfect finish for a day.

As the hotel is out of town we hired a scooter for one week and you can explore the island without any problem.

I highly recommend the hotel and hope to come back one day. THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT TIME!

Room Tip: Get a room with sharing pool!

From the movement we arrived, the staff were friendly and so so helpful. The reception staff helped us with our bags, and delivered them to the room. The bar staff, especially Aris, remembered our drinks throughout the week, and even delivered them to our table wherever we sat. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, and it worked. The restaurant staff were attentive without being overbearing, and made sure we had wine and water at every sitting, and a full supply of coffee and tea at breakfast. The room we had included a private pool, and everyday the room was spotlessly cleaned, beds made, fridge stocked, and towels replaced. A big thank you to the domestic staff.
The setting is on the coast overlooking the sea towards Turkey, and affords great sunsets from the beach, at the bottom of the complex. It's only a short drive from the airport, so you don't spend hours on the bus either.( 20 minutes). The hotel has facilities to hire bikes, motorbikes and cars, and it's worth hiring one at €5 to take the very flat road along the coast to Tigaki, or even 20 minutes to Kos town. The evening entertainment is great, with no pressure to get involved, but there if you want to.
In summary, the hotel is spotless, the staff are fantastic, the food is great, the pools are plentiful and clean, there are more sun loungers than people, and if the management are to believed, in that they've only taken this hotel on this year, then they've done a great job, and things can only get better. We came here with Jet2, and got a great deal.

Room Tip: We had room 426, with a private pool. Very private and close to everything

We have recently come back from the Astir Odysseus in Kos and had a great time. We booked a swim up pool and it was lovely. The hotel is spotless and the pools are big and spacious with plenty of room for everyone. Although the hotel was full it still felt really relaxing and the staff couldn't do enough for you. The animation team were great, really friendly but not pushy if you didn't want to join in with the daily activities. There isn't anything nearby but the bus stop is just over the road and the buses are regular to Kos town. You could get fresh towels every day for around the pool which was great. The food in the restaurant was lovely and we didn't get bored as there was always a big choice at meal times. I would highly recommend this as a good hotel for all ages but if your looking for night life outside of the hotel then look for something closer to the town. For us as a relaxing family holiday with first class service then this is the hotel for you.

Room Tip: All the rooms have a great outlook, either the pool or across the sea, you won't be disappointed...
