Review of Tropical Sol

We stayed here one night and were glad to leave the next day. Very small rooms and smaller bathroom BUT lots of coat hangers. Canteen style breakfast that was awful, just a lot of mediocre things thrown together, the usual breakfast cereals but without milk to put on them. Clear your own table and take it into the kitchen. The hotel rooms need some TLC and it would be better if it had a lift.
The balcony was covered mosquitoes so you could not open the door, fortunately we had paid for air conditioning so it was not necessary. I feel I should mention that Tigaki does have a mosquito problem so do take the necessary sprays and coils as you will need them.

+ friendly staff, excellent location to restaurants, shops and the beach and fairly good breakfast however pretty basic range.
- lousy internet connection, a bit small pool, not much to chose from the hotel restaurant.

Over all, especially as a vegetarian, I was very happy with the foods that the restaurants served in Tigaki. I truly recommend a restaurant called Sagittarius, 5min walk from tropical sol, which had an excellent variety of veg food!

We stayed in Tropical Sol in August 2013 for one week and we absolutely loved our stay! The rooms are basic, but very clean and decent. The hotel is located on the main street lined by a lot of restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, grocery stores and travel agencies, so you are close to everything. Just 5 minutes from the hotel is the amazing Tigaki beach with its white sand and turquoise water. The staff is very nice and helpfull. Hotel has very nice facilities, especially coctail bar and terrace - breakfast on the terrace was a lovely way how to start our day. The breakfast choice was not that great, however compared to other facilities in Greece it was above average. All in all we got what we were searching for and much more and we loved our holidays in Tigaki!

By the way if you go to Tigaki make sure that you visit the capital city of Kos - it is a precious mixture of history, fun, shopping and harbor!

The hotel is on the main road of the Tigaki village. It is close to the beach. Around there are a lot of good restaurants and shops for shopping. We arrive early just after the breakfast. We understand that the lady at the reception was not so happy for our arrival ! Our room was at the 2nd floor. We ask for the the elavator and the lady answer us tipically that... the hotel has nt elevator. There was nobody to help us with the baggages. The room was quite small and the bathroom too. The positive was that was clean enough. There was noise from the stairs with all the people who go to their rooms. The aircondion does not working well. The breakfast was incredibly poor and the stuff doent care and does not interested to replace everything that ends. The pool is big but not enough clean. We try to eat a snack from the pool bar but the quality was poor again. The prices at the pool bar was reasonable. If you want to stay at Tigaki, search for an other hotel. In the same street i suggest the hotel MoreMeni with restaurant and pool.We tried it and we are very happy for this.

Good standard hotel and is at the heart of the resort. 100m to beach. Good bar facilities. Excellent pool which has the sun all day. No probs getting a sunbed. Extremely hot around pool in July so we went to the beach most days for the breeze. Pool bar serves food / snacks & drinks at reasonable prices. Only negative point is the hidden extras. €7 per day for aircon and the ridiculous charge of €4 per day to use the fridge in your room (we didn't bother with the fridge nor the €2 per day charge to use TV in our room) There are better, more sophiticated (and pricier) hotels on the outskirts of Tingaki, but for a centrally located standard hotel The Tropical Sol is ideal

Room tip: Rooms on the front can be noisy (traffic) unless you close all windows. However, the view is better from the front. You'll need aircon if you close the windows at night

We stayed at Tropical Sol for one week in August 2011. When we first entered the room, sheets were not very clean. I asked the reception to change them. They were not happy, but they did it. Everything was clean for the rest of the week, so it may have been an incident. The room was quite small but with a balcony. The bathroom was ok. We didn't understand if the air conditioning was free of charge, but we didn't need as the room wasn't so hot. Breakfast was greek + continental, so you have a lot of choice. The hotel has also a swimming pool. We didn't try it but it seemed ok. The beaches are not far and you can reache them on foot. There is a good number of restaurant close to the hotel, so no problem even for dinner. I suggest Nisiotiko, if you want to eat tipical greek food.
