Puerto de Mogan is a great holiday destination if you want some peace and quiet. It's a nice and relaxing area (apart from Market Day on Friday) with plenty to see and do. The Hotel is lovely decorated, very up to date and in touch with the fishing community. We stayed in Room 101 which could be a little noisy in the morning with everyone walking past and into the building for breakfast. And the room we were in looked out onto the marina was super - a real treat to see the sun set with all the lovely boats in the marina. As a young couple travelling, it was slightly off putting that there were a lot of older couples and groups staying at the hotel as we felt a bit out of place.
Breakfast was super, a great choice of food for all ages. I would say that the evening meal was good and there was a variety of food to eat but I think that if we had not eaten out a couple of times then we would have gotten very bored of the food. Also, it sometimes felt like a canteen when it got busy. Did not feel that it was a very formal sit down, with some wearing shorts and tshirts at night when the hotel requests trousers and shoes.
The pool is and outside area is lovely with sun loungers, however I have to agree with the other reviews and say that it was very annoying that some people would leave their towels on the loungers when it specifically says you are not permitted to reserve them (especially when they don't appear to use the sun loungers until 11am!)
The service we received during our stay was superb! Receptionists were ALL an asset, all speaking a variety of languages to accommodate and were very helpful.
Safety deposit was two euros per day and a six euro deposit. And for those reviewers that complained - surely better to pay twenty euros for a weeks visit to know that all your belongings are in safe keeping.. Especially when the maid forgot to lock our patio door (which looks out onto the front of the hotel) and anyone could have walked in.
Surrounding area is super, definitely recommend going to Aqualand, a bit overpriced (and DO NOT buy the beer, a total rip off if you want a day out on the water slides) but it is a nice get a way for the day. And if you venture to Playa del Ingles afterwards, you will definitely appreciate the peace and quiet you get when in Puerto de Mogan. But there are definitely a good few more commercial things to do in Playa del Ingles and it costs approx thirty five euros for a taxi from there to Puerto Mogan at night time.
Bus drivers are maniacs, so if you are suffer slightly from travel sickness I would recommend a sick bag or not eating straight before the bus journey (or at least until the new motorway opens!).
I would definitely recommend going on the glass bottom ferry (which really isn't that glass bottomed) to Puerto Rico / Anfi / Arguiniguine. Puerto Rico has lots of lovely little cocktail bars and pubs which we thoroughly enjoyed. Anfi is very picturesque and looks very posh. And Arguiniguine is less so, with its dark black sandy beach and is a little more "run down" in appearance than the others. But it is a worthwhile trip. Cost us twenty euro return for two to puerto rico and then same again to arguiniguine.
Overall a lovely hotel and a great area. Definitely having Post Holiday Blues and would love to return some day soon...
