We just returned from a super stay in this hotel. It was our third trip and each one has been a most enjoyable stay. We love the location, the very good staff, the facilities and the climate. I would like to mention Sarah the excellent class instructor. She offers high quality sessions for pilates, Yoga, Power Walking etc. She is very friendly and very good at her job. If you visit you should try her sessions. As other reviewers have said the meal times are very frenetic at times and some food sections can run out and they take a while to be replaced. Also the breakfast tea is poor quality and the hot water is just not hot enough! These are minor issues and we do really enjoy our visits. I recommend you try the boat trips from the harbour and also try the restaurants in that area. We swapped dinner for lunch so we could eat out for a change. In summary this is a very good hotel and we will be back in 2014.

Room Tip: Bring your own tea bags to use at breakfast!

Firstly, I do not think there is a more beautiful place in Gran Canaria than Puerto de Mogan and if you want to stay there then the Cordial Mogan Playa is the place to stay. We stayed there at the beginning of February and were not disappointed. The rooms are large and spacious with a wonderful bathroom with shower. The whole hotel is clean and tidy. We stayed half board and both breakfast and evening meals were buffet. Both meals have a large selection of food and I thought of a high standard. Whilst we were there sunbeds around the pools were always available. I am not sure if this will be the case in the summer months. Staff were helpful but unobtrusive. It is just a short walk to the town and beach and both are excellent and you also have a harbour were you have a regular service to Puerto Rica ( a pleasant boat ride to a rather tacky place although the cafes on the beach are quite nice!) I would certainly recommend a stay at Cordial Mogan Playa and hope to return next year.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Cordial Mogan Playa and it is the first time we have returned to the same hotel and location for our Winter Sun holiday; that alone speaks for itself. We were not disappointed. The hotel facilities are maintained to a very high standard. All the staff are polite and helpful. We stayed Half Board again and enjoyed the wide selection of food. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for all ages. Don't go to Puerto Mogan if you want nightlife; it is a delightful peaceful haven and is a great location for relaxation. The motorway extension to Mogan opens in March 2013; we hope that doesn't spoil this idyllic location. We just wish it was only 2hrs away instead of 5hrs; it would be great for a long weekend break to recharge the batteries! We are already planning a return.

Room Tip: Ask for a south or west facing room above ground floor level.

This was our third visit to the Cordial Mogan Playa in as many years. Much has been said in these pages of the virtues of this hotel both by me and numerous other subscribers. I agree with most of these comments. I do, however, have some sympathy with the very few contributors who point out some of the hotels deficiencies. Very little in this life is perfect and the CMP is no exception. The restaurant is an example of one of these deficiencies, but I am prepared to accept that it is impossible to please everyone, and can appreciate how difficult it must be to cater for so many people all of whom have their own particular idea of what constitutes a good buffet meal. With better supervision of both waiting staff and of the supply of food to the serving counters some of the restaurant’s problems could be eliminated. The balance of food quality and flavour over quantity and variety also has to be addressed.
Overall, though, I have to go along with the majority who admire the good things this hotel has to offer - the beautiful gardens, its stunning swimming pools, its friendly staff who try to make your holiday as pleasant as possible and who sort out any problems as cheerfully and as sympathetically as they can, its evening entertainment (mainly good!), its proximity to the pretty little village of Puerto Mogan and the grandeur of the islands mountainous interior. But above all you must surely appreciate its wonderful February weather and the time spent in such beautiful surroundings when people at home are enduring the harshness of a North European winter.
I look forward to many more holidays at this still excellent hotel.

Excellent hotel and beautiful little harbour town. Can't speak highly enough of it. Lovely rooms, clean and spacious with views over the gardens or pools.
Food was excellent with a great choice. We stayed half board and were not disappointed with the carvery.
How many hotel managers take the time to come and say 'thank you' to you on your last night? This is the only one where I've ever experienced that. Their attention to detail is superb.
We'll certainly go back and will be highly recommending to all our friends.

Room Tip: If you like the sun on your veranda ask for a south facing room. The room we were in faced north, an...

We stayed at Cordial Mogan Playa for five nights; we had a great time. In contrast to the uninspired flats and towers found in other villages in the south of Gran Canaria, this hotel consists of many smaller buildings, which have a very nice architecture. All buildings and facilities are connected by nice walkways, surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens.

The hotel has two very nice swimming pools, a small but good equiped fitness room, several bars and restaurants. There are also a lot of facilities we didn't use: a spa, tennis courts, squash, a room with video games and an archeological site. The terrain is quite big, it takes at least a couple of minutes to walk from the main entrance to the other entrance, which is close to the center and harbor of Puerto de Mogan.

The breakfast buffet is impressive. The pool bars serve good lunch dishes at reasonable prices. We didn't try the buffet restaurant at night. We ate at the à la carte restaurant once, which pretends to be one of the best restaurants of Gran Canaria. Since we had only 5 days on the island, we cannot confirm if this is true. However, we were not very impressed. The food was okay, but seemed not very inspired. The waiters were a bit formal and did not contribute much to the atmosphere.

The hotel room was nice, spacious and very clean. We had a nice view on a cactus garden, a part of the village and the mountains. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. On the last day, we had to leave early, before the breakfast buffet opened. We could grab a cup of coffee in the restaurant, and there was a "pic nic" box with a croissant, sandwiches, juice and fresh fruits for us. Good service!

All in all, this is a very good hotel. It is not cheap, but we got great value for our money.

Room Tip: I guess there are no bad rooms in this hotel. We had a nice view from our room on the 2nd floor; I g...
