It was a noonday walk so it was a bit hot. a nice sun hat would have been an added help, but even if I wasn't able to bring one, it was all worth the walk! Loved the cultural feel and the eager tourists on queue in the food stalls waiting for their pork buns and cold drinks. I tried a few. I had the classic pork bun and generous sips of my cold bubble drink. Walked around, enganged and talked with some of the locals, and had a great time!

I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of this village and ambling around the many laneways. It's best to avoid the main road to avoid the tourist streets. The back streets are sublime and needs a half day or more just to explore.

We took first morning ferry from Hong Kong. Crossing time approximately one hour and best to buy return ticket (alternatively buying one way return in Macau is more expensive) Macau has a local currency, however Hong Kong Dollars are accepted, but change is given in local currency. At the end of the trip one can be left with quite a bit of local currency. Watch it?
On arrival many "tourist helpers" offers their services. It is generally a rip off. Best to cross the road and take courtesy bus to Taipa (casinos, hotels, shopping malls). After viewing all this best to take one of the courtesy busses back to arrival point and take another courtesy bus to Hotel Lisboa and spend another half of the day in much more interested part of old Macau. It is really amazing to see what remains of Portuguese culture/influence in this corner of Asia.

Its quite accessible from the skybridge near Venetian and Galaxy. Go on the travellator that will bring you near Taipa Museum.

We went to the restaurant with famous crab porridge and sat at the second storey. The porridge is quite good but can be pricey. We were happy to find out that the other dishes such as fried noodles, tofu and stir fried vegetables. There are also other traditional eateries there.

Cool village to walk through with lots of character. Lots of stores many selling touristy stuff and many places to eat too. Within walking distance of Venetian and Galaxy hotels.
