We enjoyed exploring the area of small cobbled streets and dining at several of the small local restaurants. The Portugese tarts were excellent.

Touristy walking areas with food and souvenir stalls

Nothing much, but considered less crowded than St Paul's Ruins.

Get away from the mega casinos and wander through the streets to discover shops and restaurants. Rua do Cunha is a popular pedestrian street where you can try Lord Stow’s Portuguese egg tarts and crab congee at Seng Cheong. Taipa Village is a worthwhile place to see during your visit to Macau.

Taipa is not as well known or extensive as the older historic centre of Macau with its old fort and ruins of St. Paul’s. However, Taipa in the dozen or so blocks located around its Parque Central de Taipa is a welcome quiet refuge from the enormous casinos that have been built in the rest of Macau and adjacent Cotai especially. There are dozens of good restaurants offering Portuguese, Chinese and Macanese foods usually quite reasonably priced. It is well worth a couple of hours to stroll and eat or drink.
