Went there on Christmas, and the lights are beautiful with the flower displays near the old Taipa houses but nothing much to do and see but we went there to try see how it was when Taipa was still a fishing village. There is a very small body of water now which they say used to be part of the sea before the Cotai Strip area was reclamed. Its nothing now except a sad overgrown-with-grass area, and it looks creepy at night. We just took some pics then used the walkalator to go to the Venetian. These walkalators are brilliant in guiding people towards the gambling and shopping strip.

Ideal place to shop for Beef/Pork Jerky in Macau.
You get to try Portuguese cuisine here too.

An easy stroll even with kids.

Getting there :
Bus -Look for the bus that says Taipa village (sorry folks it was our first time to stroll around Macau)
We walked our way back to Cotai strip, where we stayed. Thanks to Google Map for helping us with directions

Taxi drivers in Macau aren't that friendly. So we went around riding busses.. then a lot of walking....

It’s a nice place to take your time to stroll, see and smell. Variety of foods from the authentic Macanese cuisine to Portuguese cuisine to the not so local - Thai, Korean and even Japanese restaurants. Various shops selling Macanese tit bits. There was even a lighting show at a temple since it is the lights festival this month.

There are restaurants if you prefer other food variety and price provided by the chains of malls and hotels in Cotai, There's Lord Stow egg tarts which are cheaper than the store in The Venetian. Not forgetting a shop(Pastelaria Fong Kei unit 14) at Taipa which sells wife and almond biscuits. Expect queue thou.
