This new property is part of the Sands Cotai Central development. I stayed there on the night of April 17, 2012, which purpotedly was the first day that the hotel took reservations.
Traveled from Hong Kong by ferry, then boarded the free shuttle bus to Sands Cotai Central. The lobby was quite nicely executed. I felt the ambience was a cross between an ancient Chinese palace, and (weirdly enough) an ancient Chinese tomb - like the idea of the Terracottas.
Due to the way the Sands complex was laid out, the reception area, lift lobby, and the restaurant for breakfast (called Grand Orbit) are quite separated. For example, after arriving at the ground floor, one needs to walk around 5 minutes, pass some shops before one can reach Grand Orbit, which is literally separated from the hotel. It is not that big of a deal, but some might feel strange having to "exit" the hotel to have breakfast.
The rooms are very nice. I enjoyed the overall color tone. During my stay a light bulb or two was not working but they were quickly fixed. Another area worth visiting is the pool, gym, sauna & steam room facilities. All top-notch.
For those who are brand conscious I'm happy to report the complimentary bottled water is of the "Fiji" brand. Bathroom toileteries are the familiar Acca Kappa collection.
Did not splash out enough to stay at Executive Floor so can't comment on the lounge. Neither did I try out the hotel's restaurants. Will leave this to other advisors to comment.
Given this property is entirely new, almost no hiccups were encountered, which meant there was sufficient staff training, and the Cornad experience was well delivered.
